NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS REAL LOVE
ksholl-537-20932918 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a great misrepresentation of real love. Enjoying a kiss does not make you "fall in love." That's lust....or desire. If Kayla is going to love Dustin, she should love him because he's a kind, decent human being and DEMONSTRATES love towards her. Love is an action - not words. So when Kayla begins to question the end of her relationship with her fiance simply because of the way "he sounded" when he said "I love you," she is clueless. Her fiance treats her like dirt. That's not love.

Amazingly Awful
lucygirljohnson-4611230 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie entirely banks on the viewers either not being that smart or not paying attention. The story itself is of course played out and cheesy. One girl choosing between two guys. One is a jerk (with an awful British accent that seemed more like a last minute unnecessary choice) and one is the sensitive type who plays with dogs. In the scene before their montage of the couple's time together they are wearing the same thing after supposedly 4 days have past. During said romantic montage they can be seen at an amusement park being romantic, however at the end of the movie in a scene that is supposed to be "a year later" they are at the same amusement park and are wearing the same things. It is painfully obvious that they didn't want to waste more money on location to do a wardrobe change. The only reason I gave it a 5 instead of a 1 is the fact that it's so bad it's comical. If you are looking for a fluff movie with no actual redeeming value, you have found the right one. Perfect movie to watch while multitasking or if you just appreciate cheesy cinema.

"The elevator is stuck for good this time, it hasn't moved in 30 minutes"
ScoobySnacks6619 December 2018
That's just one of the many brilliant lines from the script of Merry Kissmas. That morsel of brilliance was followed by "Thanks a lot elevator, you brought the most incredible woman into my life and now you're stopping me from getting to her" Do I really need to say anything more?

It gets four stars from me because I don't take these movies too seriously and Dustin and Kayla did have a bit of chemistry. Oh, and Mr. Barkley was cute.

Worse than any Hallmark Channel movie
cdp722716 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
i wanted to like this movie, I really did. I enjoy watching sappy Hallmark movies, but this was just too much. Why did she get engaged to the director guy? They refer to the magic they used to have but you never once saw it. The girl must have pretty low self-esteem to put up with the crap her fiancé dishes out, for two years. I'm glad her "friends" are encouraging her to move on, but I'd never want a friend to immediately start dating a guy (who is still catering her engagement party, and why is it still happening???). There's so much of this movie that's all over the place and just doesn't make sense. I fast-forwarded through a lot of the ending, I just couldn't take it. (I hit Play in time to hear her say "what, can't you handle a strong woman?" I wanted to scream! If she was strong, she would have dumped that fiancé a lot sooner!!) Btw, this had 4 stars on Netflix and I'm wondering if I can ever trust their rating system ever again. I feel lied to.

Love and hate it
cuteymunchkin22 December 2017
So there are a lot of things I didn't like about this movie. Like the fiance guy, the annoying store lady and the girls wishy washiness. But what bugged me the most is that they filmed a scene in current time and a year later using the same day. The actors were dressed the same, wearing the same jewelry, hair and even same handbag. It took away from the movie for me. All in all a typical rom-com with very good looking actors which made it all the more enjoyable.

Cheesy plot, terrible acting
alipoopink23 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I had to sign in and get an IMDb account just so I could write a review of how rubbish this movie is. The story line does not work, there is no reason to believe she ever liked the choreographer guy and the other male character, Dustin, is pretty irritating - a cheesy wimp that needs to stand up for himself. She seems to move from guy to guy but it always ends up being their fault not hers. Also, I don't really understand why this is a 'Christmas' movie, apart from the nutcracker references. I usually like simple straight forward Christmas movies but this one is truly terrible. A couple of hours of my life that I won't get back

Predictable but cute in parts
phd_travel7 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This Christmas movie is a predictable. But there are a few redeeming parts. It takes a bit of time to get there. Throw in some cute puppies in between.

A pretty choreographer (Karissa Lee Staples) kisses a chef caterer (Brant Daugherty) under a mistletoe in an elevator. She is engaged to a rather inconsiderate choreographer with a fake British accent.

It's rather predictable who she will end up with - they make a cuter couple. Karissa is pretty though her character's fickleness is a bit contrived. Brant shows a different side in a romantic role a opposed to the villain Noel Kahn of PLL. The actor who plays the choreographer doesn't look like a dancer at all and the so called Nutcracker is pretty bad. Doris Roberts of Everybody Loves Raymond has a small role, one of her last appearances.

Hallmark doesn't really have to make so many Christmas movies each year until they find some more original ideas.

A mindless Holiday movie that doesn't even have Holiday feeling
ComedyFan201022 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I often look over Christmas movies having no real story or thought because this is what most Holiday movies are like and they give you that special cozy entertainment feeling for Holidays. But it didn't work for this one because it is both mindless and has no Christmas feeling to it. Putting in a few Christmas trees and get a Santa for a few scenes isn't enough.

The movie is a dragging story of a women choosing between a bad guy who is so obviously bad for her and a real caricature and a super great guy so we know who she will end up with. And while it feels dragging over the 1.5 hours their relationship progresses way too fast. I don't know how they managed that.

The one good thing about this story is the cute dog who wasn't in it enough to save the movie.

The worst was the role of the most recognizable actress in it. Doris Roberts plays a silly role that mocks older women. Ah well that horrible old woman kissed the good guy but soon after he kissed a REAL woman in that elevator (his own words). So sad that this talented actress was used for this in one of her last roles.

Better than Reviewed!
kwc-1813925 August 2022
I don't get the low reviews but I loook at movies differently than others. I pay close attention to the chemistry between the leads then how the supporting characters fit within the two leads. The script was somewhat weak and the remark about former "I LOVE RAYMOND" mother who I love was unacceptable and the director, script writers should be ashame of themselves to call any woman not a woman and it doesn't matter, old, young or anything else. What I don't understand is it really that difficult for women to choose clear love in front of them or was that just a movie thing.

Simple Holiday Fare
kall66954 December 2016
Here is what I like for the holidays: Movies that are fun, have loads of sappy Christmas traditions, cute characters, no big meaningful stuff, and no lame sad music in the background (HALLMARK CHANNEL!!) This one succeeds. I don't have to think too hard. Too many Holiday movies go for the "deep" serious stuff and focus on redeeming one of the characters. This one is simple fun. It's great for watching while wrapping presents. It has a villain we all love to hate, cute star-crossed lovers, slight conflict that is overcome by the end.It doesn't have any overwhelming meaningful purpose! The biggest fault I find wit hit is the dreadful "faux" accent by the choreographer. Really? Toss the lame accent and just speak in plain English. It's hard to listen to and makes the character look even more shallow than he already is. Yeah. It's been a really lousy year (election 2016) and we all need some silly fun!! Lighten up people!

Worth watching even though many give it bad ratings.
tooterbears14 November 2022
The worse part about this movie is the title, 'Merry Kissmas". I almost did not watch it because I had a hard time getting over the stupid title. However, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie. The love interest between Kayla and Dustin was full of genuine chemistry . On the other hand the chemistry between Kayla and Carlton was forced which was consistent with the storyline. These Up/Hallmark type movies always have a "dumpee" in the plot.

The main critique for me was that the Nutcracker banner on the venue looked like a high school sports banner--something the director, Carlton did address and the ballet dancers looked like first week dancers even though Carlton was suppose to be a world class director.

I love cheesy Christmas movies and I thought that this would be another one that I would either end up liking or loving. I could barely stand 40 minutes of this torture. The acting was horrid. Save yourself the time and find something better to watch.

One of the worst budget xmas movies out there...
MIamiReviewer27 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I spend a lot of December watching low-budget xmas movies on basic cable channels. I have very low standards. This one was painful. The protagonist woman started out charming enough, but became pretty unbearable as she stayed with her horrid boyfriend until almost the end of the movie. The movie lacked any real plot whatsoever, other than the basic premise of a woman needs to choose between two men. The rest was pure filler, sinking to such painful tropes as a fun-filled cookie-making session and a non-sequeter trip to the dog pound to play with puppies. Seriously??This might be the worst one i saw this holiday season....

A bit of Holiday fun.
grumpy-2748315 October 2018
Yes, this is by no stretch of the imagination a brilliantly written screenplay and the acting is a bit better than the wooden nutcracker but it's a bit of fluff and nonsense for the Christmas holidays. This is the perfect style of movie to have on in the background while putting up the Xmas decorations, so sit back and enjoy it and have another eggnog!.

Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong I love me a low budget Christmas movie, but this was excruciatingly painful to get through. Between the horrible fake accents, a story line that makes no sense and my girlfriend swearing at the tv. I give this movie a 1/10 and that 1 is for all the adorable dogs in the film.

Bad screenplay
MickyG33311 January 2024
6.4 stars.

This film has a lot of potential, but the screenwriter, or maybe the director, probably both, wasted resources cranking out a pretty lame end product. I like all the actors, the lead female is quite amazing and every guy wants to kiss her just like the lead male got to do several times. The kisses were actually done very nicely, so kudos for that part. What's wrong with the movie is easily ten-fold. First the writing is atrocious in that the interactions are awkward and strange at times. You can see the actors are doing their best to make the most of the bad writing. The screenplay is bad. The directing is bad. The music is not great either. The editing even has its share of issues. All around this is a B grade movie if not worse. I don't think there is a category for anything worse, because B grade means it's usually bad, sometimes laughable and even so bad it's good, but in this case it's sometimes okay, mostly just bad, a few parts were good. The actors are all adorable and that's the only redeeming quality. I wanted to like it for the performances alone. The producers hired the right cast, but they should've left this script in the recycle bin (where I know it must have been tossed at one point, but someone pulled it out for some reason).

Real Hot Cookies!
adamjohns-4257511 November 2020
If it wasn't for David O'Donnell's completely over the top and appalling British accent, this film would be very good. It's annoying, because I've seen him in other films and really enjoyed his characters and his performances, but this did make me question his choices. It's a good job he's pretty. Which, fortunately, so is Brant Daugherty, the other male lead. He can cater to me whenever he wants and you can associate with him because he plays the part without being panto. I think it helps me enjoy a film if the cast are appealing in a physical way, not just because I'm shallow, but because I can get behind the need and desire that each of them has for the other. I can see why they would fall for that guy or this girl and although physically it would be difficult to choose between David and Brant, the chef has a much more attractive and fun personality that you can easily fall for as the viewer too. You can also see why the guys would fall for her charming, quiet, but ambitious qualities.

I believe that this is a semi-sequel to "A Christmas Kiss" and "Another Christmas Kiss", but you don't need to have seen those films to enjoy this one. If you have seen them, then you'll know all about the tricks of the magic elevator.

It's a typical seasonal love story, full of the morals and other things you come to expect from these films. Charity work, being kind to your fellow man, etc, but it's not overly about Christmas itself, which it could perhaps have done with.

Worst movie I've ever watched.
sanaipatel16 September 2019
This movie is so badly written. Do the actors read the script before signing in these things. Did they realise how non sensical, unrealistic and stupid the plot is. Noel Kahn is better than this role.

Elevator Romance
Christmas-Reviewer5 February 2018
Review Date 2/5/2018

PLEASE BEWARE OF SOME REVIEWERS THAT ONLY HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW. I HAVE OVER 400 REVIEWS OF "CHRISTMAS RELATED FILMS & SPECIALS" WHEN ITS A POSITIVE THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE PRODUCTION. NOW I HAVE NO AGENDA! I REVIEW MOVIES & SPECIALS AS A WAY TO KEEP TRACK OF WHAT I HAVE SEEN! I HAVE DISCOVERED MANY GEMS IN MY QUEST TO SEE AS MANY " C H R I S T M A S " MOVIES AS I CAN.

Now Someone keeps reporting my reviews. I guess they are jealous because I do tell the truth. I want to point out that I never make snide remarks about actors weight or real life sexual orientation. If there acting is terrible or limited "I talk about that". If a story is bad "I will mention that" So why am I being "picked on"? IMDB? When one of my reviews gets deleted IMDB will not even tell me what someone found offensive. Well on to this review.

The story of "Merry Kissmas" is that Kayla and Carlton are on the verge of a break-up, mainly because Carlton treats her more like his assistant than his girlfriend, but they agree to wait until after Christmas and Carlton's new show to address their relationship. Then Kayla has an impromptu kiss with Dustin, and she thinks she has finally met her true love.

The story is almost like a "Cinderella" story but this is not a film where a woman needs to be rescued. What this film is about "You have to figure out what you want in a relationship" "You have to be your own Prince Charming".

I like the fact that this film makes you care for Kayla. Even at time you see she is making the wrong choices you still like her.

I will watch it again.

An un-merry kiss
TheLittleSongbird5 February 2019
Love the fun and nostalgia Christmas brings, and cherish all the time spent with family and friends every year. As well singing all the Christmas songs and carols and re-visiting as many of the films and special as possible. Recently wanted to see some different and new Christmas films to stretch my horizons beyond the ones traditionally watched every year. Feelings have been extremely mixed doing this and even when trying to take them for what they're meant to be quite a good deal of them have been lacking.

Of which 'Merry Kissmas' has stood out in a bad way, in that it was one of the worst. Did watch it expecting some cheese and schmaltz (as long as it wasn't overdone), but was not expecting to bombarded so excessively by both that it made for uncomfortable viewing. And then there is the further problem of pretty much everything done on an amateurish level, this was another example of a film when there was the serious temptation to turn it off ('Christmas with a View' was another festive film to make me feel that way) but stayed with it to be fair. Absolutely hate judging films unfairly or on a biased level, have always really tried to make it my duty to not do it.

'Merry Kissmas' has only the scenery that was good. Which was wasted by photography and editing suggestive of somebody who was not sober. Nothing memorable about the music, which sometimes was placed questionably. 'Merry Kissmas' felt very disorganised and sluggish in the direction, like the director didn't know what to do.

As was the script, as well as being heavy gratingly so on the cheese, soap, cringe and schmaltz, it was as others have said jumpy and borderline incoherent. The story is the same, on top of being very dull and predictable, next to nothing made any sense and was ridiculous. There is no charm or warmth, very little Christ-massy and some of it had a mean-spirited edge. This was apparent early on and one does struggle trying to stick with it, while the ending is hard to stomach.

Either the stereotypical characters were dull as dishwater or were insufferably irritating. Particularly hated the lead character, such a distastefully unlikeable character that never grows. There was no chemistry between the leads, with the actors looking like they hated each other. This is something that is apparent with the rest of the cast too, everybody seems so distant and disconnected with each other. The acting is a mix of going over the top and robotic, almost everybody looked comfortable as their characters and it made me uncomfortable watching them. Doris Roberts is the only one who tries but she isn't enough to compensate.

Overall, no merriment here, merry is the last word to describe what was an utterly joyless experience, even when trying to take it for what it is. 1/10 Bethany Cox

The worst
fayeaurora18 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I like to watch cheesy, romantic movies every once in a while but Merry Kissmas is truly the most cringeworthy I have seen. I never write reviews on here but I feel like I need to warn people. The acting is terrible, and at the end she says he's her best friend but they know each other for only what, a few days/one week tops?

Horrible plot and acting!
aliceabucater25 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The movie was just awful! I mean, why would an engaged woman just a random guy in an elevator?! And if she's so unhappy, she should have just cut off the engagement! Also, most of the scenes were SO irrelevant to the actual plot! And they put in the wrong kind of "mood" in the wrong scenes. E.g Half way through the movie, they're talking about how the girl is getting out of her toxic relationship, and it felt like it was the ending scene! Overall, horrible movie. Please don't watch this movie!!!
