This show is defo better than 6.2
fallguy_jack1 November 2016
I just binged watched this, putting off two prime nights of my regular favs because this had it's hooks in me before they started. I took to writing this before watching yesterday's ep 2 (s7) of The Walking Dead!

I don't know about most of the other reviews- this show is in no way a 1, nor a 10. But it's certainly engrossing, like a book you can't put down.

It has humour, def some funny moments, but I would not call it a comedy because that's not where it's real strength lies. Nor a romance cuz I find those boring (usually). It's more like; half a study, half art.

As a guy, a show about a "throuple" that realistically(ish) explores that kind of relationship is intriguing because come on, that would be awesome for so many reasons. Don't know if I would want to be married to one of the girls, but this show had me seriously considering how to handle what was (previously) mostly fantasy in my head - and that's it's strength.

Not many shows can make me ponder like this one (not just fantasy but society), especially while being entertaining - and that makes it mighty... even if imperfect.

This for all the seasons but don't watch beyond 3

I only really finished it as I hate dropping a show half way through. In a way I wish I had as season 4 was poor and season 5 I was relieved to finish. No spoilers, but it started off very promisingly but the writers seemed to run out of material.

Cute but some bad writing
tsalbeci14 November 2020
It's a very charming show with many likeable characters and witty dialogue. The whole premise is also kinda interesting and you feel for the people in the show. Where it falls a bit short is in the constant back and forth in our "throuple" where they never seem to be able to make up their mind and keep making weird decisions. Also for some strange reasons some characters suddenly disappear from the show without any explanation which I guess is because the actors got a different job somewhere else.... In summary it is a descent feel good serie

Highly Underrated Show
This is a great show that has wonderful writing and great character development, including the characters that are not at the forefront of the show. All of the actors do a great job with the material and are extremely likable (or unlikable as it may be called for.) I am very hopeful that Audience (& AT&T) chooses to continue to produce such fresh content. They've taken something that could be construed as very abnormal and have boiled it down to a narrative that almost everyone can relate to. Complacency, guilt, desire, love, commitment, feeling lost, evaluation of your life - all these things in this package. If you aren't watching, you should.

I would say... typical
daniel-schwier27 September 2020
Typical American. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the show. But what I cannot really stand anymore ist this everybody is attractive, has a nice apartment and is always well dressed. I'm not an American but I traveled the country a lot and what you see on the streets is so not what you see in shows like that and that's kind of annoying (at least for me). Add some fat people, some trash on the streets and visible wiring inside the apartments, it would make the story (not bad though) more believable.

Unexpectedly Loved it
karjens4 May 2016
I saw the previews for this and had intended to skip. I don't personally by into the polyamory thing as I don't see anything but heartbreak ahead for someone. Still one night I was surfing and it was on and I was hooked. 1st of all, I knew the girl who played Izzy looked familiar but had no idea she was Chloe on Rookie Blue. I must say I love her much better in this.

As for the show itself, the writing is incredible. I find it light hearted, authentic and just wonderful. The acting is sublime and the chemistry between all of the characters, not just the three main characters, is better than just about any television show I've seen. Even the characters I want to kick in the teeth, (ex: Stalker Andy, Nosy Lori and her daughter) I love because they're so well written. And I won't lie, the chemistry between Emma and Izzy is magnetic, IMO there are way more feelings between Izzy and Emma than either woman with poor Jack.

This is not a 'sex' show. There are intimate scenes but it's not Game of Thrones. There's no naked people so if that's what people are looking for they will be disappointed. This is a story about unexpected desire I guess (I wouldn't call it love in this stage of the game) and following your heart and while I can't relate at all to the "three-way" idea, nor do I want to, I can relate to complicated feelings. Just enjoy this for what it is. A rather sweet story about relationships of all kinds.

Love it!
millynew30 March 2016
I believe is one of those pearls that I hope will last for a very long time. I saw the trailer and it seems interesting and… well... it is so much better! Loved the first episode with so many twists and such heart. It seems real in so many ways and original in others. It feels pure and honest and and sooo sooo sexy. I stayed on the edge of my seat to see how all would unfold and it was just great! And really exciting!!! I thought they would air two episodes in a row but they didn't and I was so disappointed!!!! Can't wait for the next!!! As I said I believe is one of those few pearls in TV and I hope will last for a very long time!!!!

Love hate relationship with the show
bryndyer10 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The story between the three main characters became boring to the point where I wanted to stop watching altogether. What saved the show for me was the other storylines with Nina and Shaun and Dave and Carmen.

Save yourself. I couldn't
snehratnachoudhary15 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, I don't even know where to begin. So, let's start at the beginning.

Jack and Emma are a perfectly 'normal' couple and he takes his dumb brother's advice who later ends up getting divorced btw to hire an escort. Enter Izzy. The girl that Jack finds easy to talk to and suddenly they're making out. Goes and tells his wife and she decides to meet her and then it's revealed that she is bisexual and makes out with Izzy too.

Their sex life is saved. The end.

You thought? After the first episode, everything that follows is a slow trainwreck that makes absolutely no sense at all.

Izzy decides she's in love with them. Izzy who has never been with a woman before or in a romantic relationship (as far as we can tell) suddenly is in love with 40 somethings.

Let's assume that she is, in fact, in love. That does not change that each of them want fundamentally different things in life evidenced by the fact how each of them up and leave for a couple of days to a couple of months or more at different points in time.

The dynamic is inherently flawed because they didn't come together at the same time. But this show proceeds to shovel twists and turns which are completely unnecessary failing to acknowledge what any of them truly want.

Emma walks out on two jobs that she loved. Same goes for Jack. They ultimately bend over backwards to please Izzy which makes 0 sense.

Even the show questions their relationship. Polymonogamy is a contradiction in itself. Izzy never gets to have all of those firsts that Jack and Emma did and is clearly 20 years younger so she will be stuck with them. When she's 40, they'll be 60 and no longer in the dating pool.

But hey, who cares right? We made a show on polygamy so let's make it as silly as possible.

I dunno why I kept waiting for it to get better but I legit lost hope after the second season. Anyway, save yourself. And watch Dark or something.

Simply wonderful
Splinter9012 July 2019
Four seasons in and I am still completely enthralled by the beautiful romance that is the Trakarsky-Silva thrupple and their surrounding quirky band of friends and family.

Each season has managed to consistently add great new side characters to engage with the thrupple. On top of that, I love seeing the thrupple deal with all the challenges that polyamory entails.

This show is about a bored suburban couple who could not have kids so they adopted a hot twenty-something year old. Its hilarious watching the chaos if im honest, i love the supporting cast they all deserves their own shows their story arcs are infinitely more interesting.

Easily becomes boring
gilmaril10 November 2017
The main situation gives a lot of opportunity to show the possible dynamics of polyamory, but it does nothing with the opportunities. All the main and most of the support characters are shallow, childish and so naive. This is the main source of the conflicts, but no worries everything can be solved with a fair amount of weed, alcohol and sex. I can't say that the characters are not lovable, and it is clearly that the attractiveness took a great part of casting, but the characters motivations and problem solving capabilities are so simple that it hurts the brain.

Better than I could have imagined
susanmshep6 August 2016
Love this show! Just binged watched last night. I was skeptical about the premise thinking it would be slutty, totally isn't. Has so much heart, couldn't stop watching until the end. All the actors are so real, even the non-leads are awesome, could be leads in their own right. When will it be back!!?? Aahh! Can't wait!!! Should be in awards discussion. Why are there not more shows like this on TV? Follows the romantic comedy structure of 80's and 90's movies that I miss so much. Thinking Nora Ephron whole time I was watching. The dialogue is sharp, fast and witty. I would and have recommend this show to all who love relationship driven TV and movies.

funny romantic and definitely entertaining
Logomark89015 February 2018
This is a heavily underrated show. it is sweet romantic and light hearted comedy which is simple and different as it deals with you know "throuple". it deals with challenges in polyamory in a subtle and funny way. best thing about this show is this is not dark like other shows which deals with extra marital affairs. it takes on the subject sensitively and humorously. it is little realistic and little cinematic .Priscilla Faia stands out. she is adorable and sexy who can emote well. all the characters are likable and played well. if you are looking for entertainment this one is for you. episodes are short 30 mins wished they were longer as this show breezes through time. kept me hooked from start. wish this show continues for more seasons.

Warning: Spoilers
As much as I loved the initial seasons, season 5 was worst and horrible. People stop making more seasons. Don't spoil an excellent series for me. You don't have more story, stop making them chase each other all the time. They can't end up together. season 4 was already the end. As much I love this I can't help hating the season 5. End it. Move on. It's over.

In my personal opinion, it's an amazing TV Show
ajrowfield30 May 2016
I am going to keep it short. I went into this with nothing much of an expectation. Turns out this is one of the best shows I watched in a long time..in 2016 at least. I mean the situations that were depicted felt so real.. you know for a comedy show. This is the genre that I prefer - and this is the type of TV show that I like the most.

The storytelling along with the background score just makes it wonderful. The scenery is also wonderful. It's set in Portland. Talking about the characters, I don't think that there's a single one whom I dislike. All in all, an amazing show. Don't let the ratings fool you. 7 stars!! It should be at least around 8.7 in my opinion.

Just watch it and enjoy. Hopefully you will like it.

Love the 3 main character, hate all the rest!
melissagg-029497 April 2020
I somewhat like it, the story is funny, some different chick-flick, but I HATE the rest of the characters, I really like Emma, Izzy and Jack's characters but its so annoying that all the rest have the exact same stupid personality, Emma's best friend, Jack's brother, the daughter of painful neighbor, they are all sarcastic, rough, and ) funny at all... you could have been more creative on the rest Netflix, this made my rating drop from 8 to 6, sorry not sorry

Honest, funny, poignant, & real
jljlightshadow-161488 August 2016
While You Me Her definitely simplifies some of the topics that a lot of polyamorous relationships encounter, all in all, this is a well thought out, honest, real look at what polyamory looks like. There are definitely some "that would never happen" moments, but not as many as one might think. It gets complicated, but like any relationship, there is humor, there is friendship, people get hurt, they make up, & at the end of the day, what matters most is love. I think the story lines really show that, & I hope that this show gets renewed & sticks around for quite a while. I also really like the fact that rather than turning this showing into something trivial, this show has depth, & really starts to make you think about relationships in general, & how they affect all of us.

It gets boring... But there is salvation!
thaygoulart2022 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I must applaud the psychological discussions throughtout the show, especially when Nina and Izzy talk (Izzy's father as well). They enrich the show, bring new perspectives, they help make the drama smart and more entangled than it already is, which is great! After the 2nd season the storyline gets boring with the throuple... What kept me watching was 1) once I start something, I finish it 2) adjacent storylines that developed throughout the show 3) the throuple. I must say, Nina's story and how she overcame her fears, Izzy's father confronting past and present, the Amari family sticking together after up and downs... That kept me going. Beautiful to watch. OH THE END! DIDN'T LIKE IT! SO ABUSIVE!!! Couple did not respect Izzy's wish AT ALL, she said "no" an entire weekend and still, they couldn't care less so she gave in. Abusive ending to me, not a happy ending at all!!!

Boring !
Jadetw25 December 2019
Thought the concept sounded good, and i'm really not someone to try new shoes easily. But oh my god the lead male is incredibly boring. So much potential but the story line was unrealistic and rushed - why did it take approximately 30 seconds before Izzy the escort decides that HE is worth telling her full name to for the supposed first time ever ??? Just uncomfortable and boring, pass.

Charming not sleazy
whynot-4463215 August 2016
I was worried that this was going to either be sleazy or boring when I saw the ad. However I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the first episode. It was funny and charming. I was hooked. As I further watched the episodes it would get slow at times in telling the stories, but remained funny and I never lost my concern for the characters. I am looking forward to the next season and see where the story leads. The other characters really help the characters as well, filling the story nicely. I only rated this an 8 because sometimes the story would move slower than it needed to. I imagine that's because they had to fill time. I hope this is not an issue in the upcoming seasons.

Being overstyled makes is unrealistic....nothing new tbh
nikkivanbaren15 August 2019
I love this storyline, the actors, the setting. It's cool, new, interesting and inspiring in many ways. But the fact that they wake up with perfectly styled hair ALL THE TIME, is just so distracting. I don't know why American series always do this. You can actually imagine them sitting by the hairstyling right before they do on set and crawl into bed to wake up with perfect hair, or do shopping, or walk into the office. The female mail character has gotten the same hair now in season 3. She was the only one that look slightly realistic and now that character is ruined too.

Also in the appartment you never see any real mess, any books or clothes lying around (expect during sex ofcourse).

So I guess it's too American and mainstream for me and I can't get into it. I feel like there's just one styling who does series and they all look the same. I thought this would be a bit more down and dirty (aka realistic) but nope.

A Car Crash of a show!
adamandjenny1 November 2020
The story started with potential, but the 'throuple' are such awful actors that its just cringworthy! I liked every other supporting character but the main 3 are horrific! The storyline wasn't strong enough to distract me from them.

Oddly charming
mbooker-45 April 2019
"You, Me and Her" is a mixed bag which isn't going to be for everyone. I've enjoyed it enough to watch all three seasons and am looking forward to the fourth season. Some non-spoiler observations: 1. The two female leads, Emma and Izzy (Rachel Blanchard and Priscilla Faia), are wonderful. When they turn on the charm, they sell every scene they're in. 2. The male lead, Jack (Greg Poehler, brother of the SNL alumna), doesn't make as strong an impression, mostly because his character is written as perennially anxious and insecure. As is noted at one point, he looks like he should be Greg Kinnear's younger brother. 3. The overall arc of the show is that the characters get together, split up, and get together again. Wash, rinse, repeat. What makes this mostly work is that you get a powerful sense that the characters are truly in love with each other. 4. So much alcohol...and pot. Mostly alcohol. I'm not sure how any character in the show still has a functioning liver. 5. There are plenty of great side characters. I think that the character of Nina gets overused, but the characters of Carmen and Dave are well-developed. There's also a "Gladys Kravitz" in the first season who feels like an old sitcom throwback character. 6. The TV-MA rating is peculiar. There's no nudity despite the overall sexiness of the show and no particular violence. There is a *lot* of sexual language and the theme of polyamory seems to have pushed the rating as high as it is. 7. The show is strongest, IMO, when it enacts the practical problems of three adults trying to live in relationship. What happens when they each want to live in different cities? This is tricky with two people; with three people the problems grow geometrically. There's a scene where they're trying to decide where to sit in a car. That mundane scene feels nicely grounded and typical of the day-to-day challenges of people in relationships. 8. For all of the chaos and dysfunction in the show, there are touching scenes that give it heart and an emotional core. The third season finale is particularly moving.
