slow

This film takes on some very serious issues in our sosciety, bullying, violence and focus on youth mental health issues. its a very direct and not always so good acted flick, but the principles are there, and i ended up with a large portion of empathy towards the aspergic girl.

just beware that this flick demands that you are either interested in the team, or youll need at least to be in the mood for some sad sad realities to enjoy this. the grumpy old man recommends

Terrible movie, don't waste you'r time.

Terribly written and so slow it actually made 2 people fall asleep. I get what they were going for but they really missed the mark. It was a pretty annoying movie. The writing sucks, the acting sucks, the directing sucks. Do you get the idea that this entire ting sucks? When you see people leave mid way its a terrible sign

What a powerful film! Acceptable Damage deals with big questions about society and isn't afraid to show the complexity of a situation, particularly when looking at the background of the character Rabbit. Very moving and very funny at times too - I went through a full range of emotions while watching this.

Thought provoking & moving.

I am still thinking about the screening of Acceptable Damage by Fiona Whitelaw. A moving, thoughtful, challenging study on invisible disability. Authentic, inclusive storytelling which is representative of the society we live in. It effectively 'holds up a mirror' to reflect where we are failing people. Food for thought.

Powerful UK Anti-Bullying Drama

The cast and cinematography are great in this indie UK anti-bullying drama. More people need to be made aware of these issues. Soundtrack is top-notch too.

A gritty but beautiful piece of filmmaking!

Acceptable Damage is a drama that is full of heart. The characters are realistic and believable, which is a credit to the actors involved. The performance of the lead actress who portrays an Asperger's sufferer is especially poignant. The story deals with important issues such as bullying, delinquency and mental health in a non-condescending manor. The writing, cinematography and direction is exceptional.

Important story, poignantly told

Katy is played beautifully and really wins our heart, her relationships with her mother and her 'friend' are both beautifully captured. It's counterbalanced with relationships that show the cycle of bullying and abuse; the bullied becomes the bully, the girl used as a plaything become abusers too... The story is powerful, poignant and heartbreaking, complex relationships beautifully layered. It's not a fast paced film, it slowly works toward a shocking climax and lingers on well after the film is over.

Tough material from committed filmmakers

A powerful film, broaching difficult territory. No doubt some considerable bravery was required from the production team and actors alike to undertake this. I thought there were some touching moments, and I liked it a lot.
