Andy Muschietti & Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs are on board the Pennywise prequel project from Warner Bros. Television, with Muschietti set to direct several episodes.
“Welcome to Derry” will kick off its story in 1962 in the time leading up to the events of It: Chapter One (2017). The series is also said to include the origin story of Pennywise the Clown.
“This is a book we love a lot, and we felt that there was still a lot of story to be covered,” Andy and Barbara Muschietti tell EW. “It’s so rich with characters and events, we thought we would do justice to the book and the fans by going back into this world.”

We are nearing closer and closer to the the release of Star Trek: Section 3 on Paramount+. The made-for-streaming film will depict the rise of the black-ops section of the Federation and how they became the evil force fans will surely remember them being. The group will be led by Philippa Georgiou, a former empress.
The movie will wrap up the story that Star Trek: Discovery started in season two, teasing the unethical agency's growth and development over the years, only instead of a show, it'll be a single film. The film is set to see Michelle Yeoh reprise her role as the empress from the Mirror Universe, Philippa Georgiou. She'll lead a group of miscreants into a scenario that we're not entirely sure of just yet.

It seems like everyone has a podcast these days. We have Deep Space Nine's Cirroc Lofton's 7th Rule podcast, The Delta Flyers', hosted by Voyager stars Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeil. There's also the D-Con Chamber podcast, hosted by Enterprise stars Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer. There's a podcast for everyone and thanks to Gates McFadden, that remains true.
Each of the above podcasts serve a unique purpose. The 7th Rule talks a lot about Deep Space Nine, among other current Trek-topics. The Delta Flyers was an episode review podcast built around Voyager but shifted ears to Deep Space Nine after Voyager ended. The D-Con Chamber podcast focuses more on Star Trek stars, while being morer of a "late-night show" for Trek fans.

It's amazing the things artists can create when it comes to the aliens we see on Star Trek. Their unique talents are on display when we see an Andorian, a Kelpian, and a Lurian. Star Trek: Discovery was particularly known for its vast array of aliens, and that was thanks to Glenn Hetrick who is CEO of Alchemy FX Studios and a special makeup effects artist/designer.

Jeri Taylor, the Emmy-nominated scribe, producer, director and showrunner behind Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager (which she co-created), has died. She was 86.
“My mother succeeded in a male-dominated industry,” her son Andrew Enberg said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “but she did it without being super aggressive. She did it with compassion and kindness. She was like a den mother to everyone.”
The industry veteran died Oct. 24 of natural causes at an assisted living facility in Davis, Calif., Enberg said.
Throughout her decades-long career, Taylor spent more than ten years bringing to life episodes set within the Star Trek universe. In 1990, she began writing for Next Generation Season 4, eventually working her way up to co-executive producer in Season 6. She was the showrunner of the Patrick Stewart vehicle in its seventh and final installment, for which she garnered an Emmy nom for Outstanding Drama Series.

Whether or not we ever actually see a new "Star Trek 4" at this point remains to be seen. J.J. Abrams rebooted the legendary sci-fi franchise for the big screen in 2009 with a brand new cast and a brand new timeline, dubbed the "Kelvin Timeline." That cast, led by Chris Pine's Captain Kirk, has been waiting in the wings since 2016's "Star Trek Beyond" for another go-around. If/when that happens, Zoe Saldaña has one request for her return as Uhura.
During a recent conversation with Variety, Saldaña discussed the potential "Star Trek 4," which is being written by Steve Yockey ("The Flight Attendant") last we heard. While plot details remain under wraps, Saldaña explained that she wants to see her character, Uhura, take on a "leadership role" on the Enterprise, or within Starfleet in general. Here's what she...

Star Trek is set to debut a new show in either late 2025 or early 2026. The show is called Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and will not only feature a young cast of newcomers, but will be tentpoled around series lead Holly Hunter and main villain Paul Giamatti. They'll also feature returning stars like Oded Fehr, Robert Picardo and Tig Notaro.
It's set in the rebuilt Starfleet Academy of the 32nd century, not long after the events of Star Trek: Discovery came to a close. It's a continuation of that story, in a way and more characters from Discovery may make cameos in the Academy series. So there's potential for characters to keep crossing over.
It has the potential to be a fun and entertaining show, even if it's marketed to the CW/Teen demographic. Still, potential is one thing, proof of concept is another. We have no idea if Starfleet Academy is going to be good.

In Star Trek: Discovery, Phillipa Georgiou [Michelle Yeoh] had to leave Michael Burnham [Sonequa Martin-Green] and the rest of the Discovery crew behind when her body began rejecting the time jump to the 32nd century. Yeoh's character was written out in season three of Star Trek: Discovery, and she was supposed to star in a series based around her character and Section 31. That changed, though, and Paramount+ decided to go with a streaming channel movie instead which began filming in January 2024. And now, the release date for the movie has finally been announced!
According to Deadline, Section 31 will air on Paramount+ on January 24, 2025 both in the US and international markets where available. Since there are not usually any set times for a streaming channel drop, most likely the movie will be available after midnight on the 24th.

The first season of the next series in the Star Trek franchise, Starfleet Academy, is now filming in Toronto, but we shouldn't expect to see it until at least 2026. That hasn't stopped Paramount+ from making a surprising decision regarding the series. It has renewed the brand-new series for a second season already. The announcement came at the Star Trek Universe Panel at New York Comic Con. [via Trekmovie].
This is much earlier than the timeline for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds which didn't get a second season renewal until almost four months before the release of its first season and even for Star Trek: Discovery which didn't get renewed for a second season until the first season had already begun airing. While Paramount+ does have a track record for early renewals, this one is more surprising as the entire premise of the show is different from anything that's ever been done in Star Trek.

However, Stewart’s show might have fallen behind in one aspect compared to its successors.

Most recently, Lee served as a co-executive producer on the upcoming Netflix medical drama procedural series Pulse. Lee has also worked on renowned shows such as Scandal, The Good Doctor, Altered Carbon, Star Trek: Discovery and more.
Lee is also developing a high-profile show, currently under wraps, with Escape Artists and MGM TV, which was the subject of one of the summer’s biggest bidding wars.
Additionally, Lee is the supervising showrunner on Pearl, a TV show based at wiip Studios.
Originally from New York, Lee started her career as one of the only female traders on the floor at the New York Board of Trade and directed a documentary about her experience, called The Pit, for Netflix. That led to a tenure in the NBC Writer’s Program.
She continues to be repped by UTA and Jr McGinnis.

The erosion of the original promise of streaming TV continues. This time around, it's Paramount+ removing some of the pillars of its back catalogue, with TrekMovie.com reporting that every "Star Trek" movie made between 1979 and 2002 have abruptly left the streamer, apparently not for the first time. All six movies starring the cast of "Star Trek: The Original Series" are now gone from Paramount+, as are all four movies from "The Next Generation" era.
Of course, this disappearance isn't quite as egregious as the decision of streamers like Max and Showtime to remove newer original content that has no other streaming home, but it still feels surprising given how regularly Paramount+ bills itself as the streaming home of all things "Star Trek." When the platform first launched as CBS All Access, "Star Trek: Discovery" was one of its first original series, and its rebrand in 2021 has only made the streamer...

Paramount+ today debuted the official trailer for the fifth and final season of its hit animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks. The fifth and final season will premiere on Paramount+ with two episodes on Thursday, October 24, in the U.S. and internationally.
Following the premiere, new episodes of the 10-episode-long season will drop every Thursday on the service leading up to the series finale on Thursday, December 19.
In season five of Star Trek: Lower Decks, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos is tasked with closing “space potholes” – subspace rifts that are causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. Pothole duty would be easy for Junior Officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, and Rutherford … If they didn’t also have to deal with an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries, and scariest of all: their own career aspirations.

Michael Dorn has spent more time than anyone playing a Klingon in the Star Trek universe, but he had a chance to play a different character on Star Trek: Discovery. He just doesn't know exactly what character that would have been. As Discovery was set before Star Trek: The Original Series and Discovery had its own kind of Klingons, odds are good he wouldn't have been portraying a Klingon.
In an interview with Michael Rosenbaum for the Inside of You Podcast [via Screenrant], Dorn revealed that he was asked to be a part of Discovery several times. It sounds like there were conversations going back and forth then the producer at the time, which we're assuming to be Bryan Fuller, got fired, and things changed. Fuller did leave Discovery due to creative differences.

Star Trek has been quite different since 2017 when Star Trek: Discovery launched. Star Trek: Picard followed, along with Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and they all offered something different to fans and new viewers. Not all original Trek fans were enthused, but there is one series that has been consistently well-received, and even when cancelled by Paramount+, it found a home at the biggest streaming channel, Netflix, because of fan devotion. Here's why this is so important for the future of Star Trek.
We don't know what's around the corner. Will Alex Kurtzman continue to head up the franchise? According to the most recent deal he inked with CBS Studios in 2021 [via Deadline], he'll be leading Star Trek until 2027 or so. But that doesn't mean authority can't be handed over to someone else who maybe has a different outlook on Trek and where to go from here.

Worf, the prune juice drinking Klingon played by Michael Dorn, is a pretty major fixture of the "Star Trek" franchise. He's one of the most physically imposing characters in the property and is sort of the "John Wick" of the "Star Trek" universe, according to Dorn, having by now appeared in three different shows while making his mark across multiple "Star Trek" generations. Dorn first starred as Worf in "Star Trek: The Next Generation," then his character was transferred to the space station Deep Space Nine on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," and finally, he showed up in season 3 of "Star Trek: Picard," which followed up on the crew of "The Next Generation" decades later.
It's great that fans got a chance to catch up with Worf on "Star Trek: Picard" and that he's still clearly one of the most compelling characters in the galaxy, but we almost got a...

The NFL had been discussing the sale of its media operations to ESPN, but it appears to be moving on.
Who wants a piece of NFL Media? Considering how popular professional football is in the United States, one would be forgiven for assuming that question is easy to answer. But the league has not closed a deal to sell its media operations — including the NFL Network cable channel and NFL Films — to ESPN or anyone else, despite ongoing negotiations. Now, Bloomberg reports that the league is in talks with Skydance Media, the David Ellison-owned studio that just agreed to an acquisition of Paramount Global about a transaction involving NFL Media.
Key Details: A deal could involve the sale of NFL Media to Skydance, including NFL Network. The NFL and Skydance are already business partners, as the NFL invested in Skydance Sports in 2022. Talks with ESPN regarding a purchase of...

Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Discovery should go down in history as the two worst, creatively bankrupt shows in franchise history. While each show had moments of success, the overall arching narrative from start to finish on both shows failed to generate or maintain interest. Yet we can at least say Discovery tried to be better, and for a brief moment in season three, was.
Picard? Yikes. A show that did everything based on what worked 30 years prior. Everything was about The Next Generation. Every moment that was built was a cameo or a callback. Its entire premise relied on better ideas that came before, and its finalie only proved the notion true; when it brought Q back once again to put humanity on trial, but this time with Jean-Luc Picard serving as the proxy standin for all mankind.

Star Trek: Discovery really had themselves a chance to make a new show that continued the legacy of the franchise, enthralling us with new and vibrant stories. Instead, it was yet another prequel that no one asked for. It may have had a shot, but the show did everything it could to turn off established fans. Unfortunately, due to poor management, genuine talents like series star Sonequa Martin-Green bore the brunt of the backlash.
She was, after all, the starring character of the franchise; Michael Burnham. Despite an awful character name, there was hope. After all, Martin-Green was in demand coming off of her role on The Walking Dead. They got a true talent to star in their new Trek series. Why not? Yet, the character was poorly written and given way too many myths and canon-breaking attachments that rubbed fans the wrong way.
A mysterious and never before mentioned sister of Spock?...

Conor Sweeney (conveniently played by Conor Sweeney) is a lot of things, but “freaky” is not one of them. He desperately wants to get promoted at his generic office job, but his boss thinks his presentations about sector subdivisions are too bland — even though Conor worried they were too flashy because he occasionally uses red text. His idea of an adventurous dinner is a pizza with half cheese, half other cheese. And when his inexplicably gorgeous wife Kristina (Kristy Woodworth) makes efforts to seduce him, the farthest he’s willing to go is holding hands for a few seconds.
All of which is to say that if there was ever a person destined to patronize a pay-by-the-minute phone line advertising wild partying and general freakiness, it’s Conor. Our schlubby hero might have been satisfied with his quiet existence, but pleas to act less bland from everyone else in his...

The newest episodes of ‘Yellowstone’ will come to airwaves starting Nov. 10.
The contemporary Western drama “Yellowstone” has had a long journey back to TV. From a writer’s strike that hobbled big-name productions across Tinseltown to a dust-up between the show’s leading actor and its co-creator, “Yellowstone” saw so many challenges in bringing the second half of its fifth season to audiences that some began to wonder if the episodes would ever air. But come Nov. 10, “Yellowstone” will bring the premiere episode of Season 5, Part 2 not only to the already-scheduled Paramount Network but to CBS as well.
Key Details: “Yellowstone” Season 5, Part 2 begins airing at 8 p.m. Et on Sunday, Nov. 10. The episode will presumably be edited for content before premiering on CBS. The arrangement technically means some Paramount+ customers will be able to watch the episode with their subscriptions. 7-Day Free Trial $7.99+ / month ParamountPlus.com

There have been a lot of Star Trek shows coming out in the past few years, but few have captured hearts and minds like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This prequel series follows Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and his crew aboard the USS Enterprise, filling in the years before Captain James T. Kirk took over the ship in the original series. After experimenting with weightier storytelling in Star Trek Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, Strange New Worlds signified a return to form for the franchise with its adventure-of-the-week episodes and lighter tone.
It's obvious that Paramount+ knows it's got a hit on its hands, because Strange New Worlds has already aired two seasons and has a third on the way in 2025. But that's not all! A few months ago, we learned that the Netflix streaming service had gotten a new film chief in Dan Lin – and one of the first projects Lin greenlit at the streamer is an adaptation of author Ruth Ware’s bestselling 2016 thriller novel The Woman in Cabin 10, which has Keira Knightley attached to star in it as the titular woman. All throughout Star Trek: The Original Series and up through Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, there was no mention of any siblings for Spock. Even when he had died and returned to Vulcan to restore his katra , there were no brothers or sisters mentioned. That was because at the beginning of the second season of The Original Series, writer D.C. Fontana told the fanzine Spockanalia [via Slashfilm] that not only had Sarek only been married to Amanda, but there were no other children. Spock was an only child.
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier was the first to break Fontana's rule when Sybok was introduced as Spock's half-brother. Supposedly, he was Sarek's son with a Vulcan princess, and there was no mention if the pair had actually been married. Fans weren't pleased with the introduction of this never-before-mentioned half-sibling, but, of course, the internet wasn't around at the time...

Star Trek: Discovery, like some of the other Star Trek series, got off to a rather rocky start which continued throughout the entirety of its first season. It was, in fact, the season that many Star Trek fans say they couldn't get through which made them stop watching the series. While I did watch the entire first season, I agree there were some rough spots that, had they been fixed or eliminated altogether, would have made Discovery much better in its first season.
The first would be the death of Captain Georgiou because of Michael Burnham's actions. Having the captain killed could have had a much more powerful effect if it hadn't been because of a choice Burnham made. There was still a way to have the captain die and take Burnham out of action for a while, if the writers and producers had chosen that route. What about...

Star Trek: Section 31 will again do what so many other Star Trek shows have done before it; tell an origin story. By our counts, this is the seventh series or film to do so. In the shows, we had Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Star Trek: The Original Series. While in the films, not counting Section 31, we had Sar Trek 2009, and Star Trek: First Contact.

In doing so, the franchise continues to exploit, condense, and further muddle the franchise's past. Section 31 will once again seek to harvest intrigue over the golden era of the franchises by telling the story of Section 31. A story no one was looking to see be told.
