Learn more- Beaver Frog and Frog, BFF is a paper puppet musical about two frogs whose love would not be known if not for an exuberant beaver who builds a dam that sparks their relationship and saves their environment. This short musical is an illustration of biodiversity and collaboration for the greater good. Though often considered a pest because of the dams they build along streams, beavers are an ally in conserving valuable wetland habitat for declining amphibian populations.
The sun twinkles on a swamp at sunrise. Two best friends Froggidoo and Froggilee are playing and laughing in "Best Friend's Swamp," when a new animal, Beaveroo, swims on the scene. The frogs and beaver check each other out and find that they are very different but have a lot in common - Both frogs and beavers love water and love to play. Beaveroo also notices that Froggidoo and Froggilee sure do giggle a lot together. A bit of a match maker, he sings, "Are you sure you're just friends? Either way, let's be best friends!" While the new friends sing and dance together, construction happens in the background and water starts to drain out of their beautiful swamp. Beaveroo heads off to find out what's going on while the frogs get swept away from each other as the water exits the swamp.
Beaveroo finds a builder who is digging ditches and knocking out our dam. He sings "I'm gonna build, build, build, gonna drain all the water, so it's dry, dry, dry..."Beaveroo tries to stop him but the builders don't understand him. The builder, clueless of his destruction, says "Aw, a cute beaver." Beaveroo runs off to save his friends.
Back at the pond, Best Friend's Swamp has been emptied out and Froggedoo and Froggilee cannot find each other. Froggilee sings, "Here I am, all alone. Stuck in the muck, can't swim back to my home." Beaveroo returns and finds both Froggidoo and Froggilee stuck in the mud. He has an idea - He can build a dam so the spring can refill the swamp and he can save his best friends.
Beaveroo sings and dances as he artfully weaves together sticks. And soon the swamp fills back up and Froggedoo and Froggilee swim to one another. They are so relieved that Froggilee kisses Froggedoo on the cheek. It's true. They are in love!
