Awful Mess
claudio_carvalho27 November 2016
A viewer should not spend his time watching a film rated 2.1 in IMDb. Time is irreversible and once lost, cannot be retrieved. However I decided to give a chance and see "Forsaken" to check whether it would be so bad. The film has just ended and it is worse than its rating. I have no idea what the senseless story of exorcism is about and what are the motives of Paul, his wife, his daughter, her friends, the doctor and the locals. Therefore I am incapable to write a plot summary since the story is not possible to be understood. In addition, characters come and go, thrown on the screen without any previous development. The lead character, Paul, is a complete mess and it is impossible to know what he is doing in the film. The conclusion (is there a conclusion?) is a joke so terrible it is. My vote is one (awful).

Title (Brazil): Fortunately it is not available.

Ignorance is bliss!

I thought to myself, wow this film really isn't as bad as everybody has been saying! Then I realised I had just woke up and the damn thing was still playing. Indeed, to escape the awful film I had to create my own entertainment at the back of my eyelids, which was very enjoyable I might add. 8/10. I am a fellow horror fan and thought that the overall premise seemed reasonable and thus I gave it a shot despite the reviews and ratings. The acting in most parts was generic and resembled to me how most people talk the morning after inebriation. I am usually sympathetic and try to be open minded about film and actors as I somewhat generally understand how much work goes into making one however this felt more like an effort for those involved than a labour of love, from directing and cinematography through to acting. Well that is my first review ever completed. I just felt compelled to have a little moan ;P

The title says it all what you should be doing!
Reno-Rangan14 November 2016
I don't know why I'm writing this review. Usually I avoid watching this kind of films. For the last ten or so years, I've been successful at that, but now it happened with a mistake. I thought it was the one with Don Sutherland in it. I did not realise that I'm in a wrong film until I saw someone who was possessed by a demon doing the yoga poses.

I'd already started, so decided to finish it off, but that was a bad decision to regret. Knowing it would be a worst film, sit for it through is what real patience a film fanatic need. But surely I won't suggest any of you to do that, because it is totally a waste of time. Instead, you can re-watch any film you thought is very bad before this one.

For me, this is like an almost worst film ever, though I've seen even worse than this, so it will be one among them that I disliked badly. Honestly, I laughed better during watching it than those real comedies from the recent time. I know there will be people who find it at least a decent, but definitely majority would find it difficult keep watching, so 10-15 minutes would be a great achievement. Recommended to skip it from the miles.

Terrible waste of time
madwand69 August 2016
I feel sorry for anyone who thought this drivel was any good at all. The dialogue sounded like it was written by grade schoolers, the acting is amateurish, and there is absolutely no plot. Typical of crappy movies, most of it was filmed in the dark to hide the glaring deficits of this disaster of a movie. The story is so terrible that most of the dialogue makes no sense at all and I have absolutely no idea what the main character was doing at the end. The entire time I had this on I wanted to turn it off but I kept thinking there's no way a movie can be as bad as I thought it was, so I kept waiting for some redeeming value, but it never came. Just regret. This was a terrible mistake.

Lives up to the cover
timlin-45 February 2016
Despite the mumbling actors, incoherent story-line, and dim lighting this low-budget horror does succeed in portraying a creepy atmosphere. But atmosphere only goes so far, and as the film meanders on, presenting scenes that don't fit together, and way too much blubbering from a grown man, viewers will probably start checking the clock. The director and editor were probably doing the same, because the movie doesn't build up to much and the ending seems rushed despite taking forever to arrive. It's difficult to say whether this is worth the investment of time, certainly the viewer won't be missing much if he or she gives up.

Going against faith at its dullest
TheLittleSongbird23 March 2018
Possession films are not usually films habitually seen by me. There was something though mildly intriguing about 'Forsaken's' idea. There are examples of good films about possession, and while horror is not my favourite genre of film there is an appreciation for and there are classics in it.

'Forsaken' is far from a good example of a possession or horror film. It is a classic example of how not to do either, is a terrible film on its own and that it's low budget is not an excuse (seeing as there are films out there made on a low budget and still manage to be watchable). It doesn't even have a promising opening scene, nothing unsettling or suspenseful and bordering on the silly, atmospheric set design (the rest of the production values are just too amateurish to make me remotely appreciate it) or a watchable actor in a small role trying to do something with it to make things better.

Visually, 'Forsaken' looks poor. It is so chaotically and self-indulgently shot, sloppily and sometimes confusingly edited, there is such a dreary look to the lighting and the effects and such are a shambles. Whether the set or anything like that was good was hard to tell or appreciate because of bad everything else in the production values looked and when distracted by everything in the film being so amateurishly executed.

The music is often intrusive and inappropriate in mood and placement, generating absolutely no suspense because it makes it so obvious something bad or unforeseeable is going to happen. It and the bizarre sound mixing tend to drown out the dialogue.

Not that the dialogue was worth hearing. When it was not hard to understand (with it being rambling gibberish delivered in never other than mumbling), the dialogue is enough to make even the most childish child feel dumb and it constantly sounds awkward. It rambles and doesn't make sense with a lot of cheese and mawkishness.

Everything about the story execution feels stale and incredibly dull. Even worse is that it's often incoherent, with such aimless and all-over-the-place and sprawling plotting, and then it's too obvious to be scary, too dull to be tense or suspenseful, too cheesy to be fun and too ridiculous to be thrilling. None of those positive attributes are present at any thing and all the negative attributes are plastered all over.

Can't say much positive about the personality and development deprived characters or the flat direction and insipid all round acting where everybody mumbles their lines in an uninterested fashion.

Basically, a mess with few if any redeeming qualities other than it conceptually intrigued mildly. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Another Unadulterated Mess from Justin Price and Uncork'd Entertainment
mehfre28 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I get it. You have a tiny budget so you have to hire crap actors who couldn't deliver a line properly to save their souls. You have to settle for lousy music consisting of a single, loud, long-drawn-out musical note that has the advantage of drowning out at least some of the hideous dialogue. You have to stop filming when you run out of film leaving the viewers with the following question: "Huh?" You can't afford a professional screenwriter so you have to rely on your own meager talent to string together a long list of cliches. But is it really impossible to come up with a script that at least has a coherent story line? You know, one in which things happen for a reason and characters have actual motivation to do things that make sense. Or at least doesn't have disjointed scenes that have nothing to do with anything else in the movie. Instead, what you have here is a chaotic piece of garbage in which nothing makes any logical sense made worse by bad acting, editing, and direction. The story has something to do with some anti-religious act, perhaps selling one's soul to the devil or something like that (it's never made clear), and then there are zombies for some reason and then it ends. As meager a description as that is, the movie never gets any better than that.

I Don't Know What Possessed Me?
shawnblackman27 November 2016
This is one muddled mess of a flick. The latest woman doing the crab walk is the wife of a priest who loses his faith. He does so after his wife is diagnosed with brain cancer. There are some cool aspects but lost in a film that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It almost feels like 40 minutes got cut out, which was probably crucial to the plot development.

The music mostly drowned out any dialogue. The dialogue sucked anyhow. The picture was grainy as well.

I do warn you that another Ouija board is whipped out and again they don't end by saying goodbye. These are the same people that don't use their turn signals when making a turn.

Not again!
HK_Key-Si_HK17 June 2018
Justin Price did it again. He created a Horror film so bad, that it almost hurts to watch it and only true survivors will be able to sit through this horrible movie all the way to the end. If you have seen "The 13th Friday" you kinda know what will await you in "Forsaken". At least in terms of quality. Bad acting, bad writing, bad dialogues but at least one or two nice make up effects. Of course this won't carry an entire movie and so "Forsaken" should be avoided at all costs. So far I have only seen this one and Price's follow up "The 13th Friday". But for me there is definetely a pattern to spot. As soon as a future (or past) movie has the "Director: Justin Price" tag on it, I won't watch it. Lesson learned.

Decent acting, bad script
voje-3127430 October 2016
I watched this film because I love horror flicks, and I hoped for a good one, boy was I disappointed.

The effects was decent, I was scared a couple of times, and the acting of the main character wasn't too bad, but that was it.

The script is so limited, that it's hard to grasp what is really going on here, and it boils down to a demon possession thing where no one understands what is happening.

Truly a dark story with decent visual effects, but it was boring to watch.

All in all it's a decent horror flick, but lacking a good story behind it.

it was good
adammoulton11 April 2016
the beginning totally got me. i truly jumped in my seat in the first jump scare. the movie had a lot of interesting music choices and it definitely played a big part of the intensity of the film and the many sprinkled scares throughout. the character Kensie is really cute. love the pink hair! i wonder if she died it for this role or if she wore a wig. either way, it was nice to see a not so typical priest's daughter. the movie had a different take of why she was possessed and that was refreshing to see. now a days there are so many possession films that are basically the same film with different names. some of the story was left open, maybe a part two is in the works?

There are things wrong butt?
theelby-1772821 April 2016
Yes there are things wrong with this exocicim horror flick Looks a bit low budget, but the main actor does the best With what he has to go with, The film delivers the genuine scares but it also is a Little in cohesive at times jumping from one thing to another. But maybe if you like these exorcism movies its probably worth you having a look for yourself, its not going to be a waste of you time to sit through Forsaken. 6 out of 10 a solid effort there is nothing that we ain't seen before Except this little film does have scary moments. So forgive the bad moments and enjoy the scary ones. I liked this movie because the possessed people were really out of control and well they certainly pass the possessed test with flying colours, there are so many of these films today its getting harder to choose the good from the bad but this one thou not a gem it is a great piece of costume.

Yikes
Stephanie-Hurst21 October 2021
This movie was a train wreck. The acting is subpar at best. It makes little to no sense. Could have been so much better. The writing was amateurish the entire movie was made even worse by the ending. This was the dumbest ending I've ever seen.

Are these people even actors?
ruben-8589121 March 2023
The "monsters" are somewhat believable and for a low budget movie, the effects are not the worst. That being said, it is the only positive thing I have to say about this movie.

I liked the main character to some degree. His wife as well as the priest from the beginning of the movie are pretty much the.believable actors in this movie. Everyone else should seriously consider their line of work, as this is the most monotone movie I've ever seen.

It had good potential, but the story is impossible to follow and nothing makes sense. The plot twists are cheap, the ending is horribly bad and there is nothing that gives context to what sort of universe this movie is trying to sell.

All in all, this movie has some crucial faults when it comes to story telling, acting, audio and editing - pretty much everything that separates a movie from a clip from Americas Funniest Home Videos.

This Film was not good, but was not a bad either
sfbrock4 October 2016
This film was not good, but was not a bad film either.

Having read numerous reviews about this movie, I had to watch it and judge for myself.

When watched, you got what you paid for, a film about evil possession and not much else.

I have seen far worse possession type films other than Forsaken.

The atmosphere was creepy enough and that would have been expected for this genre.

The film will please some and equally disappoint others.

I thought the accompanying music added something.
