I know you’re all itching to own Madame Web on Blu-ray, 4K, DVD, digital, or VHS. However, some are trying to save some money during these tough economic times. If you still want to see Sony’s latest Spidey Universe flick but don’t have the dough, we have some good news!
Madame Web is coming to Netflix! Horray!
Yes, the streaming company announced X this week without a hint of irony. In fact, Netflix seems to be under the impression the movie has a following.
In case Netflix doesn’t have the ability to see this tweet being deleted in the future, here’s what it says:

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has certainly seen better days. Just five years ago, each film was almost a guaranteed billion-dollar smash for Disney and Marvel Studios. Now, in an era where the entertainment industry has been oversaturated by steaming, people seem less and less interested in the franchise.
In the early days of Disney+, shows like Loki and The Falcon and The Winter Solder were must watch television. Now, shows like Secret Invasion, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Ms. Marvel are plummeting in viewership. Not to mention the recent box office failures of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels at the 2023 box office.
Not only has Marvel been losing it big in the once popular superhero genre, but Sony is also dropping with their Spider-Verse spin-off films like Morbius and Madame Web, and Warner Bros. Discovery with their DC Universe films like The Flash and Blue Beetle.

Since Sony and Disney struck a deal for Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016 with Tom Holland’s debut as the web-slinger, Sony has focused on building its own cinematic universe, known as Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu). Although Spider-Man has yet to appear in this universe, other associated characters have.
Ssu began with ‘Venom’ in 2018, followed by several other movies including a sequel to ‘Venom,’ ‘Morbius,’ and most recently ‘Madame Web.’ While these movies haven’t received widespread critical acclaim, with ‘Morbius’ and ‘Madame Web’ gaining more attention as memes than at the box office, Ssu continues to expand. This year, two more movies are slated for release: ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter.’

Since Sony and Disney made a deal about Spider-Man joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in which Tom Holland debuted as the web-slinger in 2016, Sony decided to put more effort into building their own cinematic universe, officially called Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, in which Spider-Man still hasn’t appeared, but some other characters associated with him have.
Ssu kicked off with ‘Venom’ in 2018 and since then several other movies have been released, sequel to ‘Venom,’ ‘Morbius’ and most recently released ‘Madame Web.’ The movies weren’t exactly critically acclaimed, with ‘Morbius’ and ‘Madame Web’ earning more in meme points than at the box office. But, Ssu goes on, and this year alone two additional movies will be released, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter.’
‘Kraven the Hunter’ was supposed to be released on August 30, but its release date was pushed back to December 13, 2024. The film took over Karate Kid’s original release date.

This past weekend was, without a doubt, one that several studios and pretty much every movie theater around the country (and much of the world for that matter) would like to forget. Several new releases hit theaters, including Guy Ritchie's "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," as well as Crunchroll's latest anime film, "Spy x Family Code: White." It was, however, Universal Pictures' horror/comedy "Abigail" that was the most high-profile release of the bunch. While the film did perform better than the other debuts, it fell well short of expectations and further cemented a point that has been quietly lingering for some time: Vampires are not generally good for business these days.
"Abigail" opened to just $10.2 million, coming in second place over the weekend to Alex Garland's "Civil War," which pulled in $11.1 million in its second frame. Overall, it was one of the worst weekends at the box office in 2024 to date.

More than 2 months ago ‘Madame Web’ was released and the results have been catastrophic. The movie was an obvious box-office flop earning only $6 million on its first day. Instead of competing with the likes of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. ‘ or at least, the recently released ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ the movie did not manage to outperform ‘Morbius.’ There’s also the issue of critical reception, the movie is currently rated at 12% on Rotten Tomatoes by critics and 57% by the audience, making the movie “rotten.”
The story was highly criticized for being disjointed, and there’s also the issue of somewhat false advertising as the promo photos and trailers showed all three Spider-Women already having superpowers and fully costumed, but in the movie, we don’t even see their origin stories. Fans pointed out many possible reasons for a failure of such massive scope, among them being the unfamiliarity with the source material,...

Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote, Venom, will hit the silver screen again later this year. The monstrous bond between humans and the extraterrestrial life form first slithered its way into the hearts of audiences in 2018.

For an entire generation, Batman meant Michael Keaton. He brought the Dark Knight to life in not one, but two films that helped make Batman arguably the greatest superhero of all time. Decades later, he defied the law of aging by effortlessly slipping back into the cowl for “The Flash”.

Michael Keaton is not new to starring in comic book films. From Batman to Spider-Man: Homecoming, the actor has won over fans with his portrayal of iconic characters over the years. He is very versatile too, and hence can play both a hero and a villain very convincingly.
Keaton is one of the most sought-after stars too, and he has made several interesting cameos throughout his career. However, his appearance in Morbius left fans scratching their heads. Funnily enough, Keaton was as clueless about his role in the film as the fans.

During its existence, the DC Extended Universe (Dceu) gave rise to some historic blunders. My personal favorite was when Dwayne Johnson simply refused to accept that his "Black Adam" movie wasn't very good, but the ill-fated shared universe has a plethora of greatest hits when it comes to cinematic slip-ups, from the box office disappointment that was "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" to the box office bomb of super-heroic proportions that was "The Flash."
Look, it's extremely difficult to build a shared cinematic universe. Aside from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the only action franchise that's really achieved anything of note in the last few years is the "John Wick" saga, and even that can't hope to match the historic highs of the MCU. So you can't really fault DC and Warner Bros. for failing to establish an enduring cinematic multiverse — though that hasn't stopped David Ayer from trying.

Just a few months ago, we all saw Madame Web crash and burn in theatres. It wasn’t as meme-worthy as Morbius, but it was another fascinating misfire in Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent cinematic universe. Now that dumpster fire is coming to home video.

The Uhd and Blu-ray discs will come with the following:

Were you worried that the one-two-three punch of "Morbius," "Renfield," and "The Last Voyage of the Demeter" misfiring at the box office would spell the death of vampire horror for the foreseeable future? If so, rest assured, it takes more than a few random stabs to slay this blood-thirsty genre. 2024 will see the Og cinematic creature of the night, Count Orlok, return to show everyone how it's done when Robert Eggers' "Nosferatu" remake attacks theaters next winter. Luckily, in the meantime, horror aficionados can satiate their bloodlust by checking out "Abigail," the latest from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and producer Chad Villella (the trio also known as Radio Silence).

You know your movie’s a failure when it’s been bested by Morbius, but that’s where Madame Web has found itself. ‘Madame Web’ is the latest installment in the Ssu, without Spider-Man in it, and it’s enough to say that the movie wasn’t successful at all. It was a commercial and critical failure with even the lead actress admitting that she would likely never do anything like this as well, and the rest of the cast “washing their hands” from the movie.
Back when the movie was first released, Dakota Johnson claimed that the script was drastically changed and that this wasn’t necessarily what she signed up for. We know that ‘Madame Web’ is set in its own standalone universe and takes place in 2003.
We’ve seen the birth of Peter Parker or at least one version of him, but according to some pre-release rumors and leaks, he was originally supposed to be featured in the movie. Leaked concept art from the movie somewhat confirmed those claims as...

From 2002 to 2007, director Sam Raimi helmed three Spider-Man movies for Sony. The films starred Tobey Maguire as the title hero, and they were all massive hits, pushing open the door for a superhero renaissance that dominated the 2010s. The series ended when "Spider-Man 3," despite making nearly $900 million at the worldwide box office, wasn't as big a hit as the studio wanted. The budget for that film was also wildly high, costing as much as $350 million to make, and fans weren't as excited by the sloppy storytelling and strange Venom storyline.
Rather than push ahead with "Spider-Man 4," Sony elected to wait five years and reboot the continuity with "The Amazing Spider-Man" in 2012. That continuity was short-lived, ending in 2014 with the release of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." Fan goodwill was at an all-time low. From there, a tertiary Spider-Man appeared in the now-flourishing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

One would be forgiven for not having thought about "Madame Web" for several weeks, but as the movie's theatrical run has wound down, it has come to our attention that its running total is in a pretty darkly hilarious place. Sony's latest Marvel Comics adaptation is currently just a few dollars (relatively speaking) shy of breaking $100 million worldwide. And given that it doesn't seem to be playing in any theaters right now, it will probably be stuck just shy of that milestone in the history books.
Director S.J. Clarkson's "Madame Web" has sold $99,312,851 worth of tickets worldwide. That includes $43.8 million domestically. Relative to what superhero movies have been making in theaters over the past 20 years, less than $700,000 is right next to nothing. Unfortunately, a combination of factors led to this film's demise. Critics were generally pretty unkind to it. (You can read /Film's "Madame Web" review right here.

Marvel’s Morbius has utterly disappointed its fans, while the film built immense hype when its trailers were dropped, promising a fresh take in the vampire genre, taking place in the superhero universe. However, when the film was released on the big screens, it became evident that the film was far from the lofty expectations set by the fans and the critics. The film is incohesive and fails to leave any lasting impact on its viewers.

Before the era of Superhero Cinematic Universes, there was the time of Superhero Animated Universes. On Marvel’s side, there was Spider-Man: The Animated Series and X-Men: The Animated Series, which were going head-to-head against DC’s Superman: The Animated Series and Batman: The Animated Series. Spider-Man: The Animated Series aired from 1994 to 1998 for five seasons and sixty-five episodes. Written by John Semper based on Marvel comics, the animated series saw various storylines spanned over multiple episodes. One of the most iconic storylines in the comic saw the ever controversial, Morbius, as an antagonist to the web-slinging hero.

Despite some of the Ssu movies getting mixed or negative reviews (like Morbius), the Ssu keeps going and now has many live-action and animated projects in the works, focusing on Spider-Man’s side characters and villains. ‘Madame Web’ came out on February 14th and didn’t do well, with Dakota Johnson criticizing its development publicly.

Rumored to be playing the next James Bond, Aaron Taylor Johnson is railing against Hollywood in a new Rolling Stone UK interview. The actor, who appeared opposite Brad Pitt in 2022’s “Bullet Train” and co-stars in the upcoming “The Fall Guy” movie with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, is poised to have his leading moment later this year with Sony’s “Kraven The Hunter.”

Since striking a deal with Disney for Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016, Sony has been focusing on expanding its own cinematic universe, officially known as Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Although Spider-Man himself hasn’t appeared in this universe, some associated characters have.
The Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu) began with ‘Venom’ in 2018, followed by several other movies including a sequel to ‘Venom,’ ‘Morbius,’ and most recently, ‘Madame Web.’ While these movies haven’t received much critical acclaim, with ‘Morbius’ and ‘Madame Web’ gaining more attention as memes than at the box office, Ssu continues to expand. This year, two additional movies are set for release: ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter.’

Spider-Man has evolved into several versions in the course of Marvel Comics. While most are equally compelling, one version of the Spider-Man story is extremely fascinating. In Dan Slott’s Superior Spider-Man Vol. 4: Necessary Evil, the friendly neighborhood Spidey turns evil in the most enthralling way possible.

If it is hard for you to imagine Spider-Man being evil, this story might change all the perspectives. In the comics, there is a story called Spider-Man: Dying Wish where Peter Parker visits Otto Octavius and the narrative turns into one of the darkest twists in the Spider-Man comics.

While Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web brought a new low to the Sony Spider-Man Universe, fans still have the Aaron Taylor-Johnson starrer Kraven The Hunter as well as Tom Hardy’s Venom: The Last Dance to see if the Ssu is worth anything. Fans were not ready for a film to be worse than the meme-worthy Morbius, but Madame Web played to win in that competition.
However, Taylor-Johnson has assured fans that Kraven The Hunter is good and worth exploring in the cinemas. The Bullet Train star mentioned how the film was different from the usual franchise fare that audiences were used to and that he would not have chosen to work on it if the film did not have any potential.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, one might argue, climaxed in 2019 with the release of "Avengers: Endgame," a massive, three-hour orgy of superhero mayhem that brought together several dozen characters to fight an evil, purple-skinned environmentalist warlord. The flick also featured a time-travel widget that allowed superhero characters to visit previous MCU movies, injecting the proceedings with onanistic nostalgia. "Endgame" was a pat on the back for a decade's worth of film audiences, congratulating them for sticking with the 19-film series.
Since then, the MCU has felt like directionless falling action. The big hits in Phase Four have been fond farewells or mindless crossover action ("Spider-Man: No Way Home"). The only new concept introduced into the MCU since 2019 is the Multiverse, and audiences became bored with that notion pretty quickly; "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "Morbius," "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," and DC's "The Flash" all proved that the Multiverse isn't assured box office gold.

After weeks of rumors, Sony Pictures has confirmed that all eight live-action "Spider-Man" movies are indeed returning to theaters beginning next month. Each film in the franchise, beginning with Sam Raimi's original 2002 superhero classic, will be given a week-long run in theaters from Monday to Sunday. It remains to be seen how much general audiences will be interested in revisiting these movies on the big screen, but even on the low end, this could be just what theaters need right now. It also could help Sony make up some box office revenue they were expecting from a certain other live-action Marvel project that fell well short of expectations.

It’s been exactly a month since ‘Madame Web’ was released, intended as the next installment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, albeit without Spider-Man. The film aimed to explore popular side-characters but ended up being a significant setback for the studio, turning into a subject of memes. Despite hopes, it became both a commercial and box office failure, falling short of ‘Morbius,’ the previous low bar-holder in the Ssu.
Cast members are handling the aftermath in their own ways. Sweeney, who portrayed Julia Carpenter, one of the Spider-Women, joked about the movie lightly, while her co-star Dakota Johnson (Cassandra Web) addressed the situation more seriously, urging film studio executives to reconsider their creative direction. Johnson reportedly faced backlash for her statements, with industry insiders suggesting it might be challenging for her to regain favor with Sony.

It’s been exactly a month since ‘Madame Web’ released and what was supposed to be the next installment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (without Spider-Man in it) that expands on the popular side-characters, quickly turned out into a massive loss for a studio and meme factory. After crashing and burning at the box office, becoming the subject of multiple jokes at its expense during the Academy Awards, and even driving its own main star to completely disassociate herself from anything to do with it, "Madame Web" admirably lived up to its billing as 2024's heir apparent to the "Morbius" debacle. These sorts of high-profile flops don't come around very often, even as the superhero bubble seems to have well and truly burst in recent years, so I'm being sincere when I say I hope we all thoroughly enjoyed the phenomenon of society coming together to good-naturedly clown on one misguided movie in particular.
But the fun doesn't have to end just yet! "Madame Web" might as well be the movie that the term "guilty pleasure" was invented for, based on /Film's rather tepid review by Witney Seibold, so we all have yet another chance to experience...

To the surprise of no one (at least no one familiar with “Morbius“), “Madame Web” was a box office bomb and the first cinematic laughingstock of 2024. Not a great start of the year for Sony, who has two other spinoffs in its “Spider-verse” hitting theaters this year: “Kraven The Hunter” on August 30 and the newly titled “Venom: The Last Dance” on October 25.

It’s been exactly a month since ‘Madame Web’ came out, intended as the next part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, minus Spider-Man, focusing on side characters. But instead of success, it’s been a big flop for the studio, becoming a meme machine. It didn’t make much money, failing to surpass even the low bar set by ‘Morbius,’ the previous record-holder for bad Ssu movies.
The actors are dealing with it in their own ways. Sweeney, who played Julia Carpenter, one of the Spider-Women, joked about the movie lightly, while Dakota Johnson (Cassandra Web) got serious, criticizing the studio executives for what they’re putting out. Sweeney also spoke up about the movie during an interview with the Los Angeles Times while promoting her new film ‘Immaculate.

Sony has announced that Venom 3’s official title is Venom: The Last Dance, and has moved its US release date forward from November to October 2024.
The third and final film in Sony’s unholy trinity of Spider-Man adjacent releases for 2024, Venom 3 has now been given an official title – Venom: The Last Dance. Its US release date has also been moved forward a touch – from its original 8th November slot to 25th October. And that’s it. Bye!

It’s only been a few weeks since ‘Madame Web’ hit theaters, and both the box office numbers and the reception aren’t looking good. This has led many critics and fans to compare it to ‘Morbius’, a movie that gained popularity for being so bad it’s good, spawning numerous memes and catchphrases, the most famous being “It’s Morbin’ time.”
‘Morbius’ was received so humorously that Sony decided to re-release it in theaters. However, it wasn’t just the audience who were puzzled by ‘Morbius’. Even some actors, two years after its release, are reflecting on their roles and wondering, “What was that about?”

Despite being the star attraction of the Morbius’ post-credit sting, Michael Keaton has revealed the muddled thinking that led to his appearance.
We know Sony’s cinematic universe of Spider-Man characters is in something of a fuddle right now, not least because of the recent failure of Madame Web, the latest entry in Sony’s series of ‘Spider-Man adjacent’ movies. While it’s bad enough that some fans have now sat through half a dozen hours waiting for a fleeting appearance from the beloved Marvel superhero that is probably never going to happen, it makes things even worse when the films aren’t actually that great.
We gave Madame Web a very poor review and we certainly weren’t alone. Even the film’s star, Dakota Johnson has criticised the film’s production calling it filmmaking ‘by committee’ and whilst we can debate the finer points of Johnson’s actions...

After winning a staring contest against Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger at the 96th Academy Awards ceremony, Michael Keaton is opening up about his bizarre cameo in Sony’s 2022 Spider-Man spin-off film Morbius. Among the film’s many cinematic crimes is Keaton’s post-credits guest spot as Adrian Toomes, aka The Vulture. Despite the opinion that adding Michael Keaton to any film makes it better, fans scratched their heads in confusion when Toomes appeared. Some fans suggest this scene is another attempt to tease a Sinister Six film in Sony’s live-action Spider-Verse franchise, but we’ve heard that song before. Eventually, you must either clarify your intentions or scrap the project entirely.
On the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Keaton admitted he’s just as confused as everyone else about his Morbius cameo, saying, “No, no idea. None. Zero,” Keaton said. “I mean, they said ‘Okay’… and even they couldn’t quite explain it.

Just under a month ago, ‘Madame Web’ hit theaters with disastrous results. The film bombed at the box office, pulling in a mere $6 million on its opening day. It’s struggling to compete against heavy hitters like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.’ or even the recently released ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’ Its chances of surpassing ‘Morbius’ seem slim. Critical reception has been harsh, with a 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and 57% from the audience, branding it as “rotten.”
Critics slammed the disjointed storyline and criticized the misleading promotional material, which portrayed the Spider-Women as fully powered and costumed, unlike their portrayal in the movie. Less than a month ago ‘Madame Web’ was released and the results have been catastrophic. The movie was an obvious box-office flop earning only $6 million on its first day. Instead of competing with the likes of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. ‘ or at least, recently released ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ it’s going to be good if it manages to outperform ‘Morbius.’ There’s also the issue of critical reception, the movie is currently rated at 12% on Rotten Tomatoes by critics and 57% by the audience, making the movie “rotten.”

When Sony decided to expand its Spider-Man Universe with Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web, everyone was ecstatic as the film would feature more characters from the Marvel comic books and it would feature an all-female cast featuring Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, all led by none other than the Persuasion actress. However, the film has been nothing but a major box office disaster.

Though Johnson was once excited to be a part of the film, after the film’s failure, she has made comments on her experience in the film, that dashes away all the possibility of Madame Web 2. Just under a month ago, ‘Madame Web’ hit theaters, and it’s been a disaster. The movie tanked at the box office, only making $6 million on its opening day. It’s not even close to competing with popular films like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ or even ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’ Its only hope now is to do better than ‘Morbius.’ Critics have trashed it, giving it a measly 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences weren’t much kinder, rating it at 57%, labeling it as “rotten.”

The story is all over the place, and there’s a gripe about false advertising too. The trailers showed Spider-Women with powers and costumes, but in the movie, we don’t even get their origin stories. Fans are disappointed, and there are plenty of theories why it flopped—some blame the unfamiliarity with the source material,...

The story was highly criticized for being disjointed, and there’s also the issue of somewhat false advertising as the promo photos and trailers showed all three Spider-Women already having superpowers and fully costumed, but in the movie, we don’t even see their origin stories. Fans pointed out many possible reasons for a failure of such massive scope,...

Dakota Johnson, who’s routinely taken semi-reserved pot-shots at her ill-received superhero movie Madame Web, is taking off the gloves. Speaking with Bustle, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress described her nightmarish experience while making Madame Web, saying the end product was nothing like what she and the team set out to make.
“It was definitely an experience for me to make that movie,” Johnson told Bustle. “I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again, because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now. But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, ‘Wait, what?’ But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part...
