People need to know
aussiebob-5327222 April 2017
The film, by Aaron Biebert, promotes vaping and e-cigarettes as tools for helping smokers who want to quit.Vapers are the ones who've been awaiting A Billion Lives but the public are the one's that need to see it and government department of human services, and your own local MP.The biggest threats to vaping are the media, 'Big Pharma", and a good majority of government officials. One point in this film that came home was nobody cares.

Hits all the right notes
omarrscsa23 April 2017
ABL may come off as one-sided for some, but it hits all the right points with regards to public perception on vaping, and how the smear campaigns have influenced that perception. A lot of people still can't distinguish the difference between vapor and smoke. Probably because of the stigma associated with smoking. Average people are still skeptical about vapors, because we've all been conditioned to avoid anything smoke-like (smoke-belching cars, smoke from restaurants, and others including of course cigarette smoke). I hope more people, especially government health department reps, view this documentary.

A Must See for Everyone
opalboo27 May 2016
This movie, whilst being touted as a movie about Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping has a much wider context. It outlines clearly the corporate control of everyone in the first world. Mainly, as it relates to health and how countries health experts allow themselves to be the puppets of Big Pharma and Big Tobacco through a very nefarious web of money and power. As an expat American I knew about how things worked in the US from living there but seeing the shock on peoples faces after viewing this movie and the reality that it is happening even here in New Zealand....it was sad to see how duped people are. Hopefully the people who need to see this movie will see this movie and feel a sense of shame for what they are participating in.

Worldwide journey seeking the truth for a Billion Lives
imaracingmom31 January 2016
The first time in my life I have ever been excited about a documentary! To find someone to be motivated by the truth and not by corporate dollars has been a refreshing journey to see. Director Aaron Biebert and his crew have traveled the world seeking the truth about a new industry. Can it really save lives or is it the newest evil? Why is this new industry so controversial? If it is a live saving tool like so many claim, why are governments around the world scrambling to ban it? Who's paying the lobbyists who campaign against it? If the issue is to get people to quit smoking, why are so many health organizations against this? An eye opening experience to hear the truth from around the world! I just may have to start watching more documentaries!

It's possible to fit a LOT of truth into a movie!
miZundastoodme25 June 2016
This documentary is for everyone! It sheds so much light on government, public health, and one of the most revolutionary medical tools we have ever seen. The title is very fitting and almost astonishing when you realize we are really talking about that many actual human beings real lives! Its refreshing to know that this was shot through the direction of Aaron Biebert, whom is not an electronic cigarette nor a combustible cigarette user, so it has that very raw unbiased, just get down to the truth feel about it. To travel world, and mix this amount of astonishing big factors is very impressive; from Big Tobacco, Big Pharmaceutical companies, FDA, doctors, business owners, electronic cigarette industry, consumers, and just people in the know. I could only hope that all documentaries were shot with such realism and the desire to just get the truth out to people. It's a must see!

Very knowledgeable and creditable documentary on Vaping vs. Smoking
aronvo28 December 2016
A documentary that needs to be watched by all. Vaping can and does have the power to save lives, while simultaneously putting an end to the power hungry organizations and institutions, who have been poisoning people for far too long

Lots of unbiased research due to the director being neither a smoker or a vaper. This documentary will shed light on many institutions that govern and regulate cigarettes and e-cigarettes. It examines various facets of Big Tobacco, Big Pharma, and FDA, while also interviewing doctors, business owners, electronic cigarette users, and just people in the know.

Excellent eye-opening doco about fraud in public health
marewaglover1 June 2016
We think the academics, doctors and government officials are advising and deciding what's going to be best for all - but it's not so. This film peels back the layers to reveal what is basically a fraud being perpetrated on us all. Who can we trust? Why would medical doctors and public health charities seem to go against their oath or mission to save lives?

Aaron, the Director and narrator, is warm and honest. He takes us on a journey - learning, enjoying beautifully shot scenery around the world. But the beauty is juxtaposed against a jarring tale of selfishness, ideologically blinded medicine-men of the modern world. We are transported to the past then back into the present day - delivering an insight that students of public health might never glimpse in their formal training. So much so that I would recommend all my students of public health see this film. But, it's not only for public health students and practitioners. Lawyers should see it. Political advocates should see it. Vapers, smokers and their friends and families should see it.

If you are worried about the future, the way the world is going and you wonder what to do about it - this documentary is an accessible case story. Will revolution come or will we bow down cowed by the bullies, their lies and threats, their tricks and illusions? Wake up! There's more than the billion lives of smokers at risk.

A Billion Lives has left me waiting to see what Aaron and his generous genuinely loving team will do next - they've set themselves a high bar with this first debut film. Good on you guys and thank you so much for bringing your World Premiere to New Zealand. You have helped raise awareness of the neglect of indigenous people who are dying in disproportionately high numbers from smoking tobacco.

Warning: Spoilers
When you go the movies, there is a happy ending. You come out laughing, talkative and energized. Never have I left a theater with the feeling of defeat, anger and pure hatred for the way our government has gotten way out of control.

The movie is an excellent documentary about how the government can completely extinct a new health saving device for the benefit of money.

People wake up, this is the cure for cancer for so many people. How can our government be so heartless.

See the movie, whether you are an e-cigarette user or not, it is very informative on the stages of many levels.

It was aight
foobaca24 April 2017
Too one sided, but they asked on their page for a positive review because of some powers that be tanking their reviews, but errthang seems to be cool here. *takes off Reynolds foil hat*

I was waiting to see the angle presented of yet another small guy in American history being smothered by big government, or collusion with other industries. Nope

The history of tobacco part, which was essentially the first half of the film was well done, just dragged some.

But hey, it's a necessary film, just not the silver bullet the industry seems to be banking their hopes on. Nor should they be. But, this one isn't about us necessarily, folks.

Otherwise I feel like this should have come out much sooner in the states. More impact perhaps. And then I saw on their fb page asking for positive reviews. Word? That's lame and desperate bruh. Really dilutes what you're tryna put out there.

The Truth is Coming
bricker-0865825 June 2016
This important documentary not only brilliantly profiles a new technology that has the very real potential to save hundreds of millions of lives worldwide by effectively replacing tobacco cigarettes with a safe alternative, but - more importantly - it clearly shows how governments, "health" non-profits, and large corporations (who ALL stand to lose $Billions if people actually stop buying cigarettes) are waging an unethical war against a life-saving technology.

You are being lied to about vaping/e-cigarettes - and this important film exposes the lies and the liars in a professional, organized, and compelling way. I came away from this film absolutely disgusted with our politicians, government agencies, and "public health" advocates, because it is SO CLEAR that they are willing to sacrifice the lives of MILLIONS of people just to keep money coming in - and they are doing it with full knowledge that there is a safe alternative for cigarette smokers. It's inexcusable and borderline evil. Everyone - regardless of their opinion on vaping or cigarette smoking - NEEDS to see this film. If for no other reason than to see how your government, your health care system, and your "health" non- profits value $$$ over all else - including human lives.

Excellent documentary, major subject
falkenvape26 June 2016
This is a movie for everybody about a major subject : will we let one billion people die without letting them know there is something safer than smoking that could help them, without stopping public health and government from lying about it.

Smokers should know, but their family and friends too, and this film is for all of them, a journey all over the world to discover the truth, to understand how authorities went from discovering tobacco harm to fighting a cure reducing this harm with the same weapons big tobacco companies used decades ago.

It could be a fantastic road movie with a plot, as the picture is perfect and the time flies by with the passion of the people and the energy and serenity of Aaron Biebert. But they are not actors and it's a frightening story that is really happening.

Authenticity and Education Can Be Captivating!
cmahlmann25 June 2016
Rarely do you find the authenticity and truth that you find in this film. Uninfluenced by finance, this documentary was made and paid for as it has been released. A filmmaker who had a mission to tell the truth with power backed by studies and work, not large corporate interest. A Billion Lives has the power to shape legislation, change peoples minds and save 100's of millions, if not, a billion lives. I am excited for its continued release across the globe and will be waiting with baited breath as it changes minds and educates the people. Beautiful imagery. Diligent research. Emotional storytelling. Influential education. Policy-shaping persuasion. A true David vs. Goliath piece, its gives the movement a voice, it gives the industry a large voice and it helps build a united front over seas and borders.

The Sleeping Giant Health Revolution
sara_kj7928 December 2016
This was a great look into something that's been highly misunderstood, and overlooked by the General public. I was a person with an anti- vape mentality and after seeing this and doing my own research I'm convinced this will be a huge worldwide health revolution ( yes I'm using the over used 'r' word, but with good reason, it's THAT big). This doc was far reaching and well rounded in addressing the issue and did what all great doc do- stir up emotions for those watching. These ranged from anger, frustration and a touch of hopelessness ( politics are so complex and, well, screwed up haha), to inspiration, motivation and empowerment ( I kept wanting to leave right then to tell everyone about it). Whether you're a skeptic or an advocate, a left brained or right, this film will get you.

Excellent documentary about government corruption and crony capitalism
glenappleton28 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This film topic is not only timely as we've been witnessing the attack on vapor products (e-cigarettes) day after day for the past 7+ years, it's extremely relevant when viewing other recent world events in western culture. The timeline in the film takes you on a journey beginning with a brief history of tobacco use and review of the deception perpetrated by the huge tobacco cigarette companies, leading into the development of the first commercially available e-cigarette and the subsequent adoption of the technology by smokers, and then shows how the moneyed interests are seeking to destroy this emerging technology that threatens their revenue streams.

Anyone who is interested in learning more about the effects of crony capitalism, and how it plays the primary role in destroying emerging technologies should see this film. While the film topic is focused on a particular technology that could represent a major shift in public health, the themes can be easily applied to big oil and alternative energy, big pharma and alternative treatments, big agriculture and GMOs, and so on... In fact, Aaron has stated that his next project will be of a more broad concept covering these very concepts with an early (unconfirmed) title of "The problem with 'BIG'", and I look forward to seeing that film as soon as it is available.

In summary: This film was well produced with some very nice cinematography, covering a timely and very relevant topic, which provoked both a sense of learning something new and an emotional response that action is required to change the course of our history. Even if you don't care about the subjects of public health, smoking, and vapor product technology, you should view this film as a prime example of the corruption that ultimately effects us all.

The Truth is Here
kangjoymike23 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
As documentaries go, this is one of the best I have seen. It tells a narrative of collusion, corruption and the lengths to which certain parties will go to suppress the facts in the name of the pursuit of profits - and that these parties do this at the cost of the lives of others. These are the lives of their customers, their constituents, the people that are only seeking to better their lives and their health. I will not give away the content of this film; but I will say that this is not a film just for the users of vapor products (vapers). This is a film for everyone.

For the people that read news stories and believe they are being told the facts; being told the "whole truth". For the people that still believe that the organizations that claim to be interested in helping others are actually working towards harm reduction - instead of being interested in continuing the business of control. For the people that think corporations, the government and the public health community are being fully truthful when they talk about the "disruptive technology" (their term) of vapor products.

This film is for the people that smoke; that don't smoke; that know someone who does - and especially for those that create the policies, the regulations and the laws that are destroying an entire industry for one purpose: Greed.

This film lifts the veil of lies and exposes the truth - for those willing to go see it. When you have the opportunity to see this film, take it; you will not regret it.

Unabashed promo video for vaping
Karl Self23 August 2020
Not sure whether I quite expected that. I'm pretty sure that vaping is the lesser of two evils, which can easily be determined by sitting next to a vaper and then next to a smoker for fifteen minutes.

Amazing! Truthful!
sharrivz25 June 2016
The best truth documentary ever made! Absolutely awe inspiring and well done! Everyone needs to see this. The true story of vaping as told by Vapers around the world! There is so much hate for these incredible products and I hope after watching this more light will be shed to those not in the know. These products save millions of lives everyday including my own and so many loved ones and the hate that they get has no real basis! This documentary is the education the world needs! You should watch this, your parents and grandparents should watch this, your entire circle of friends should watch this, the whole world needs to watch this. These products are the biggest revolution in smoking cessation and health care ever to come around and have helped so many people quit smoking and lengthen their lives!

Genie is out of the bottle
sid_615533021 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review and I am going to keep it short and simple. After watching this documentary I felt compelled to write a review. This documentary is a must for those who wants to know the truth why a deadly poison like Cigarettes is still being sold and who are the people supporting this. A billion lives is a documentary which questions the role of certain organizations which are supposedly funded by the tobacco giants and are lobbying for them.

I think it is a short and powerful documentary that provides closure on the questions that have not yet asked or denied any logical answer and the misinformation that is being spread on a recent technological development like vaping, to show it in a bad light for personal profits. people have the right to know the truth and surely will after watching this.

This explains why Govt's around the world don't want to tell you the truth
mjdeming28 December 2016
Even if you think you already know what's going on with smoking and vaping as it relates to government and politics this documentary will open your eyes. Government doesn't like industries that they can't completely control so when an industry rises out of nothing on the backs of people like you and me, they need to act swiftly and harshly to make sure their biggest allies, Big Pharma, Big Tobacco, etc keep the steady stream of money flowing in "the right" direction. More people need to see this and start spreading truth and silence the lies you're being told every day. Aside from that, the cinematography is stunning, a well done documentary from start to finish, the creators put a lot of hard work into it, and it really shows.

This movie is a must see for everyone, especially non-smokers and cigarette users!
jjarvis-3090528 December 2016
This movie chronicles the efforts that were put forth by government and big tobacco to get rich at the expense of public health all the while knowing what they were doing. Our government sold us all out for the Tobacco MSA and has put us in a horrible position. It then shows the evolution of the vaping industry, and what is happening to this amazing industry that can help us save a billion lives but is being blocked by our government, big pharma and big tobacco as they all stand to lose big time due to this new, live saving technology. Several other countries have gotten on board in support of the vape industry, but the US government is pushing back and it is absolute CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! If you smoke or do not smoke, I beg you to invest just this hour and a half. It will help save future generations through education. Thank you Aaron, David, Clive and the entire group of folks that want to save these billion lives and many more. James

It takes guts to do movie like this
betaboy-7318128 December 2016
To go against the grain and expose those that look too hurt Public Health is no small task. Corruption is rampant in our society at all levels and needs to be addressed both socially and economically.

Aaron has done an amazing job at telling the tale and bringing in a cast to do just that weave the Web of Lies and deception to line the pockets of both corporations and politicians.

This movie is likely to open your eyes to many things you take for granted as well as learn things that you thought were , but are not.

The only thing I wish for the documentary was that I wanted more of it. But that's what good ones do, right? Highly recommended.

Required watching for the planet
vapesling28 December 2016
This documentary is required watching for the planet. The truth about government corruption and its connection to Corporation greed is enough to make anyone sick. And this is only covering the greed against vaping. It should make every consumer wonder about what other technology is being suppressed by in this country and/or planet due to corporation greed. I thank Arron and his gang for this production from the soul of my vaping heart. With the taxing research and years of planning, we finally have a revealing look at what and why we are fighting for. Thank you once again Warrior Arron for inviting me to your L.A. Premiere and providing the weapon for our battalions to win with. J.G. VapeSling® Founder

10 out of 10, a must see
christine-solazzo28 December 2016
This movie will save lives. The corruption around the world regarding vaping and the deaths attached to cigarette use is astounding. Watch the movie and hear the facts. Bring a smoker, a non-smoker, a teenager who should be educated. It shares real life experiences and exposes so much and also reveals facts that everyone should know. Parts of this movie took my breath away. I have seen it 3 times and every time I learn something new. If you don't want to be a statistic then see this movie. If you don't want your children or loved ones to be a statistic then see this movie. The facts (true and false) are mind boggling. It is a movie you will want to see over and over.

I watched "A Billion Lives" in Salt Lake City a month or so ago.
mtdeighan2 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I watched "A Billion Lives" in Salt Lake City a month or so ago. It is an excellent documentary about vaping industry's battle with the FDA and how the vaping industry is projected to save a billion lives. It is also about how lives will be lost if the FDA continues to ban the vaping industry, as it has done and is continuing to double-down on. I believe millions of vapers, ex-smokers, current smokers, and friends who are struggling with smoking addiction, will watch this documentary if it is shown at additional US locations. I am not affiliated with this movie. I am a vaporer who does not want to lose my right to choose the healthiest alternative to ever be developed to quit smoking. This is a huge public service. I personally know of thousands of people who are looking forward to watching this documentary in the United States.
