Faith based police drama
bkoganbing2 February 2020
Todd Terry stars in this police drama which has just enough police situations and just enough religion to satisfy both genres. This is now being shown on TCT and who knows they may order more episodes if it clicks with that audience.

Old fashioned detective Terry has the usual family problems with wife and teenage daughter. He seems surrounded by females and he's also showing the ropes as a training officer to a new female detective. I did have a chuckle when interviewing a witness he takes out his notepad and she her tablet. I feel for you, I can't get the hang of those things either.

The series is hardly likely to make prime time though.

Actually Watching
tarnishedhalotx26 February 2021
A lot of shows I watch, I only half watch, half listen; they're essentially background noise while I do stuff on my phone or laundry. This show I actually give it my full attention,I want to hear what each character says and see what's happening as it's happening. I had to do something on my phone during an episode, thought I could leave show running, had to rewind because the little I missed, I wanted it.

Not bad but too short.
HonestIndyReviewer31 December 2018
Not a bad little mini series but where can I watch the rest of the season? My opinion, it was a little short, had a few camera bumps but all in all not bad.

Excited for the next season!
lmonti-7576824 July 2020
I found this series on Pureflix and absolutely love it. It's intriguing, not your typical "guess what's going to happen next" crime show. I only have 2 episodes left and have been savoring them so I'm very excited to find out that there will be a season 2. Please keep this show going!

Well done all around
lindabloom-8104117 September 2019
I am pleasantly surprised by this series in every way possible. Good writing, quality acting, solid camera work, great storyline, and an added bonus, they hired an experienced sound engineer (it's a running joke at our house how Christian productions all seem to hire the same incompetent sound engineer). Sincerely hoping for and looking forward to additional seasons.

Great start
getchinator18924 August 2020
Kept seeing this show and passing it by for something else. The show is a little on the short end but somehow they developed all the characters over the course of the first season even for a show that tops out at around 30 min an episode. Very detailed, not a CSI, classic crime drama type show but goes into its own category telling a crime from start to finish where you as the viewer get details to solve the case. I'd recommend for somebody looking for something a little different in terms of a story being told of how a mystery gets solved.

Emotional season 1!
Cover-Lover14 September 2021
Season One of VINDICATION has me glued to each episode. Why? Because the emotional aspect is surprising and impactful. I love its moral foundation, realistic police investigations, and attention to societal issues, ideals, and needs. Though the show deals with seedy, cruel, and corrupt matters, they are conveyed in a tasteful way - resisting the shocking, gross, filthy, or repulsive trends and tactics mainstream crime shows often fall into.

The wow-factor of this unique faith-based drama series is its emotional, ethical messages. And it accomplishes this without being cheesy or preachy. I find it easy to connect with Detective Travis, his family, fellow officers, and even those involved in his investigations, making each episode stimulating and credible. I've really enjoyed watching Season 1 and witnessing the many examples of growth, insight, transformation, and redemption. I can't wait to watch Season 2!

Thank you to Pureflix, for my complimentary subscription.

Unique Crime Drama
crazi-swans14 September 2021
Vindication is a unique crime drama, that centers around Detective Travis as he interviews the suspects and witnesses, exploring how it might have happened, and it is up to Detective Travis to discern the truth. The first season introduces the characters and the format of the show, and as the season progresses we get a deeper glimpse into Travis's personal and home life.

The episodes cover a variety of topics, with a different slant than your typical crime shows. I like how it keeps you guessing, because you only have access to the information that Travis does, so the answers aren't clear cut and sometimes he is wrong and has to backtrack.

Each of the episodes is half and hour, and does a great job with though provoking plots, with compelling teachable moments. The show is well done, directed more towards adults and older teens, with a variety of crimes presented realistically without all the explicit details, but in a ways that can be a great conversation starter about tough topics like sexting, emotional affairs, money, marriage, drug addiction, and PTSD. One of my favorite characters is Travis's wife, who is a firm Christian who lives what she believes.

A unique crime drama with family values and teachable moments, definitely worth checking out!

Great Show!
jkotrosa12 July 2020
My wife and I just recently discovered Vindication and are enjoying it. We like that the acting is believable, that topics are real and the scenes are paced in the right way to follow multiple themes simultaneously (i.e. not following one character around mindlessly) and cause the viewer to enjoy the puzzle without making it too predictable. BUT, our biggest praise is that these difficult and adult topics are presented in ways that do not defile the audience, yet still make their full point. Looking forward to the second season (hopefully one is in the works, but I don't know if that is true).

New Faith Based Crime Show
coolandrew12312 September 2021
Vindication is a brand-new TV show that premiered last year in 2019. Fans can stream it on Pure Flix and it's also available for purchase on Amazon Prime. There is ten episodes in the first season of the series. The series is a crime drama faith-based series. One of the major characters is Detective Travis and his detective trainee, Kris. They worked on a number of different cases together throughout the series. Some of the themes and topics of the episodes included, affairs, sexting, chasing wealth, drug addiction, human trafficking, prostitution, dark web, pornography, and the consequences of committing sins. Each episode showed a faith aspect and a message that everyone can learn something from. The storylines also showed his family life and fans will be on the edge of their seats waiting to see what happens.

I would recommend this TV show to anyone who enjoys crime drama shows. It reminded me more of a cleaner crime show, fans won't be seeing a lot of blood or graphic images. The themes do contain real life situations but they are told in a more general descriptions and not too graphic compared to something like Criminal Minds, NCIS, or Law and Order. I think the faith aspect of the series make it unique in the crime shows field. I honestly believe most Christians would enjoy watching the series especially, if they enjoy watching crime shows and they wouldn't have to worry too much about it being to bloody or graphic. I loved the acting in the series and the different topics they covered. I do feel like some of the first parts of the series was kind of slower. But towards the end of the series, the action picks up around episode eight. I will say I loved the family drama that fans will see and the storyline at the end of very heartbreaking and suspenseful. I liked how the family chose to dealt with something they didn't see coming. I also liked how the series showed the consequences of sins and decisions and how they can change and affect our lives and others forever. I immensely loved how they enclosed faith and showed the watchers how faith can help you through life. The detective Travis wasn't a very God believing person. Towards the end of the series, he somewhat changes and starts to believe in some of who God is. There is much more he needs to learn about God and I think that would probably more of a focus in the later seasons.

Absolutely Captivated - Truly Escape Into a Seriously Real World
dial911book9 October 2020
Recently got PureFlix - the series name "Vindication" and the vagueness of the advertised story line got my attention. From the first minute of Season 1, Episode 1, I've been captivated. I've read the other 10-star reviews here, and they see the same qualities that I do, so I don't want to duplicate them.

I've seen most of Season 1, and find Vindication realistically and crisply written, with methodical pacing that is a nice break from the pressure of fast and furious police and detective shows. I particularly like how the personal and family stories underlying the detective's work, and underlying the events in the lives of others with whom he deals, are weaved together seamlessly.

The sets are simple, even spartan - which is fine with me, as that is more like a stage play where the focus is upon the people, the story, the human experiences. Camera angles and shots are tasteful and add meaning - the cinematography isn't like the shows where the camera is always moving around, a feature that can be distracting. Music is added perfectly, perhaps sparingly, as accents and mood setting rather than as a commanding part of the show.

Some of the situations, difficult conversations, and stressful moments are familiar to me - and Vindication reflects them fairly and true to life. There are instances involving how Christians deal with things, speak, and make decisions - I've seen nearly the same sorts of things with Christians in my world (I'm one, too.) No caricatures here. And some characters like the detective are still "not sure" about God and Christianity - I was one of those previously - and they are presented fairly and accurately.

I am really impressed with the acting (and of course also the directing that brings it out) - the repeating characters do things, say things, and experience emotions that come across as quite genuine. Each episode features situations that can happen in real life, with real people dealing with them and addressing thoughtful issues as they arise. I wish I could personally congratulate Todd Terry, Peggy Schott, Venus Monique, and Emma Elle Roberts for their memorable performances, often with close up cameras that would not forgive anything less than actors' precision. The other great actors do a terrific job to make the episodes powerful as well.

Like the other 10-star reviewers here, I would binge watch, so I can hardly hold myself to one episode a day, because I know there are not that many - and I do hope the series is continued as long as the writers, actors, and directors can make it happen.

No clue what @designfxsa is on about, the show was pretty good to me.
angelalexis-880324 September 2021
That user's review is what got me to actually take the time out to watch the show, I wanted to see if what he said actually held weight. The show isn't bad at all, has a decent plot line and nice messages for the audience. It's obviously not mainstream, but overall it's still solid.

Feel free to give the show a chance, don't let @designfxsa's review turn you away, if you take a look at his profile it seems like he gives every show/movie a bad review.

Thankful for this clean and entertaining show! Episodes 1 and 2 felt a little rough for me, music ans dialogue seemed slightly monotonous, but episode 3 and on had me sucked in! Thank you for the quality show!

Fresh and done well
RedPillBluePill26 June 2020
The directing of this tv series is something special. Every shot is detailed with illustration that really draw in the audience. The power of it is reflective of a cinema feature. It's great for binging, especially during quarantine. Todd Terry does a great job in the role struggling with a foundational aspect of the stories. And I identify with that. The writers were graceful and precise while the director created a robust atmosphere in a fresh look for tv shows. I am watching again this time for photography appreciation. I'm clearly weird like that..

Best series I've ever watched
corinne-797851 September 2021
I would honestly say this is the best tv series I've ever watched. I love the fact that they are only 30 minutes but so much is packed into those 30 minutes without making it seemed rushed. You still see tender moments and also lots of excitement. The story line of the daughter that is linked through the season leaves me wanting to watch episode after episode. In my opinion, the acting and camera work along with the intriguing story line make this a fantastic show. It is similar to Ties that Bind which I loved but I like this one even better. I hope they continue to make more seasons.

A cop show for the family
tisiphonic3 May 2022
I love that, even though this show tackles some hard topics, you don't see the graphic violence, nudity, sexual inuendo, and drug use that can almost be considered to glamorize that lifestyle. Kudos for tackling the hard topics without making the show inappropriate to watch. I can't wait for another season.

Amazing

Can be relatable for everyone, would have never thought this series would go so deep. The first episodes had some real morality lessons but nothing really deep. It became more than I could have imagined. Awesome job, hopefully they will make a season 2!

Worth the Wait!
MovingVisualFilms3 January 2020
After having seen the first episodes several years ago before the full-season was produced I was thrilled to finally be able to see what happens and the season did not disappoint. The variety of issues they deal with in a realistic but safe way for families to enjoy was really refreshing. And see how they weave storylines and plot elements throughout as the season progresses is well done and keeps you eager to find out what happens next. Hoping to see Vindication get a second season.

Great show of faith in Christ!
globalstix11 October 2021
I saw another reviewer talk about how they really focused on the show and what was said. That's me too. It's kind of like when I'm reading scripture. I've started not multitasking while reading and really paying attention to it. It means so much more and I can really connect it with my life. The same goes for this series. The more closely you pay attention the more you get out if it and see how it connects to your own story. I enjoy the twists in the plots and nothing is as you expect, and nothing is as it is in the mainstream shows. REALLY WELL DONE IN CHRIST! Thank you. Can't wait for more. I have to add that I really liked how the first season was done the best. I thought the ways the Gospel was on display were really unique and challenging prejudices or pure conceived notions about people. I MISS that!

Incredible series
kim-292797 October 2023
I am so glad that there is a series like this, with amazing story lines, actors and dialogues - ALL clean, no cussing, no nudity, etc. I enjoy watching crime shows, however, most of them are on secular stations that do not filter enough to make me even enjoy sitting and watching them. This is completely different. The show gives you edge of your seat type of viewing experience and I find I enjoy it so many more than ANY secular series! I want more of these! Have binge watched twice, and can't wait for more! The only complaint I have about it, is that there isn't more of it. I would love longer episodes, and more for each season. Thank you God and PureFlix!!

Surprisingly well done
mattjharrington6917 December 2020
I was a little apprehensive to watch this series. I went into it with preconceived ideas that it wouldn't be able to hold me interest. 5 hours later, I've watched the entire season and it was wonderful. It is a very refreshing program that honors the grace and mercy of our God, through characters that are every day people. I didn't see one character that I couldn't relate to. I highly recommend if you are looking for a good, wholesome, entertaining program.
