Just stay well clear of this one...

Right, well I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I sat down to watch the 2015 movie "Girls, Dance with the Dead" (aka "Onna no ko yo shitai to odore") aside from it being a Japanese movie.

And it being a Japanese movie was essentially enough to spark my interest, as I love Asian cinema. So of course I found the time to sit down and watch this movie from writer and director Kayoko Asakura.

Well, let me just be the first to say that I wasn't a fan of this movie. The storyline was downright pointless and essentially had zero worth to it. I lost interest in the movie's plot pretty quickly, but I endured the movie to the bitter end.

They had a fair enough assembly of casted actresses and actors for the movie. However, it is no secret that it is the strangeness and quirky characters that pull the load here, because the story was just rubbish.

I was unimpressed with what transpired on the screen. And while I managed to sit through the entire movie, I can honestly say that this movie will never again find its way to my screen.

My rating of "Girls, Dance with the Dead" lands on a very generous two out of ten stars, solely because of the unique character gallery that the movie had, and also because there was some quality to the production. However, don't waste your time, money or effort on this movie.

Funny movie with adequate action and horror

This movie seems like a movie vehicle for an idol group. There are lots of good songs. There is an extended dance sequence in the end for apparently no reason.

The idols do not try act. They act natural. This makes the movie easily watchable with subtitles. There are lots of laughs. The dead girl getting split in half was extremely funny. The deadpan reaction of the main idol to the dead girl is worthy of an oscar.

There are some action involving automatic weapons but the girls seem to handle them like toys.

There is no nudity so kids can watch the movie. There is some gore but that is expected in a horror movie. The dead girl's clones splits the villain in five pieces. You should see the movie just for that.
