Getting Back to their Roots
tony-5149627 September 2018
South Park nails it on content choice. This is the exact thing that made south park so great in the first place. They bring up taboo content others won't touch with a 20 foot pole and throw it in your face! Great start to the 22nd season! Congrats Guys.

Finally a good episode again!

For a while, I've been disappointed with what South Park has to offer the viewer I found the last three seasons to be a bit repetitive, and just uninspiring Watching the last couple seasons, there's not really any episodes I would want to revisit after a first watch And I didn't even watch the last season which was 21 Not only is this new episode good, it was the perfect episode to come out at the perfect time and that's something that South Park has always been known for. This is definitely a great starter for a new season I can't wait to see what else they have in stock for this season. 9/10 #CancelSouthPark

Perfect idea to talk about serious problems like school shootings with humour. Amazing episode. Great season start.

Perfect commentary with funny humor!

People can argue whether South Park went downhill or not. But "Dead Kids" may be the episode that saves the long-running cartoon. First off, it's take on recent school shootings is spot-on. It's correct, we've had so many that it doesn't seem like such a big deal anymore. Cartman's story shows a hilarious adventure with the show's most loved character. Overall, "Dead Kids" is South Park's return to glory, perfectly serialzing and ridiculing school shootings while remaining humorous.

So funny!

This was worth the wait! It was so funny! Randy tries to figure out why Sharon has such strong emotions all the time, and the episode topic is school shootings.

Could've been better

Warning: Spoilers
Usually when I review episodes from a tv show that are just good I'd usually give them a 7 out of ten but I feel like this episode deserves better than that (8/10). I wished this episode was more offensive as well. I also like how Cartman automatically assumes that Token and all of "his people" watched and liked Black Panther. A bit irrelevant right now since no one talks about that movie as much now but still funny. I loved the Randy moments in this episode too. The combination of Randy pissing Sharon off and Cartman thinking that Token is trying to go after him makes for great episodes. Like I said before, I wished this episode would've been more offensive. I just feel like if it was more offensive, it would've been funnier. Like that time in season 11 (I think) when Randy said the N-word, it was controversial and offensive, but that's what made that episode so hilarious. Once again, its a good episode. Just needs to have more offensive jokes in it.

Back to basics.
Tucch2 October 2018
I feel asif South Park has returned to it's roots.

The last 2 - 3 seasons have been hit and miss for me, and Season 21 in particular was abysmal! How long could they carry on with Cartman in a relationship & Member Berry's, it stopped being funny after 1 damn episode.

I prayed they'd go back to 1 story per episode and it feels asif they have, let's just hope this Black Panther joke doesn't run for the whole season now.

The problems I've had with South Park in the previous couple of seasons was that they had become tame, and the meanings behind the story's felt way too (read between the lines) ish, rather than tackling it head on like the South Park of the past would have. The Halloween episode for instance where the witches were kidnapping children. We all know what it was pertaining too after some research, but man was it masked, I've missed the South Park that was offensive, head on, the kinda episodes you watch and think "wow, how was that even aloud to air" and that's what they've given us with this first episode.

Randy will always be my favourite character so an episode of so much Randy was bound to be a hit for me.

Lastly I just want to say, watching the new South Park episode and comparing it to the new Family Guy episode has made me realise, you'd be lucky to get 1 genuine belly laugh per SEASON with Family Guy, whereas with South Park, a bad EPISODE is one where you only laugh 2 - 3 times, for me, this really goes to show the levels of humour in each show, and how dry Family Guy actually is.

South Park ftw.

Warning: Spoilers
We've been waiting months for new episodes of "South Park" and we finally have them! I bet everyone thought it would be about the Metoo hashtag, but instead it was about school shootings. This episode features a total of four of them over a span of a week or so. At first, Randy at least shows concern whether or not Stan has been shot. At the end, he doesn't even show that! It also features Cartman thinking Token is changing his answers so the former will fail on tests.

He agrees to let him cheat, but Cartman thinks it's a trick and just throws his paper away. I admit it seems a tad dated to be talking about "Black Panther". Shouldn't it have been about a more recent MCU movie, like "Ant-Man And Wasp"? Well, that wouldn't have made for enough material. Sharon is mad that everyone thinks she's just talking about her period. It's not quite confirmed at the end. Still, lots of fun though. ****

Warning: Spoilers
Not my favorite South Park episode, but it had some good moments. This episode made some good points about how people react to school shootings today vs how they use to, and how big a problem it really has become. I thought the cartman vs token B plot was good, and most of those scenes worked well in this episode. Hopefully Trey Parker keeps it simple this season and doesn't make any trump episodes. 7.2 out of 10 for me.

Average
dougmacdonaldburr2 October 2018
If this was any other show I might go as high as a 7, but for South Park this is average at best. It is better than any episode last season, but it is not even close to the glory days of seasons 1-10. I really hope they call it quits soon, because it is getting worse every year.

Left me cold. It doesn't really have anything to say.

Warning: Spoilers
'Dead Kids' sets it's self up as a take on the school shootings but like the apathetic characters in the episode it really doesn't have anything to say one way or the other. The characters really just don't care aside from Sharon. It's funny in a vintage 'South Park' way in just the brute shock value but honestly I think it's kind of lazy writing because the school shootings are more of background noise to the main plot they are interested in which is another Token/Cartman episode. The images of Butters as a hall monitor with an AR-15 are hilarious but thats about the height of the humor. Randy's inability to understand what is going on with Sharon ends up just being juvenile as it is a one note joke that wears out it's welcome. Randy also comes across as an incredible jerk which is unfortunate because even though he's insane I've felt he's always been written as a loving husband.

I've noticed over time that as 'South Park' has evolved that the character stand ins for creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have changed. It used to be Stan and Kyle but now I am beginning to wonder whether or not Eric Cartman has become the symbol for their take on the world. Cartman still by and large is the funniest character on 'South Park' but he was more effective when he stood out and was shocking. The whole plot is really just a joke about 'Black Panther' and instead of being an original take or joke it's just the same joke about black people loving 'Black Panther'. It really just comes across as Matt and Trey patting themselves on the back for being such clever misanthropes.

South Park is returning back to its roots. This episode was awesome because of how the school shooting depiction was executed done right. Much better season premiere than last season's even though I still love season 21.

South Park does it again
felipehepnerausin30 September 2018
Once again Matt and Trey tackle a depressing topic by creatively despicting the way things are, and yet, manage us to reflect and laugh at the same time. This episode right here is the perfect example of why I love this show. When reality seems to beat south park in a contest for the absurd, there is no other way but just to reflect on reality.

not what it used it to be
lucasdemajesteit27 September 2018
I grew up loving every second of South Park. These last few seasons I've been enjoying the show a lot less. Even though it's still a great show, I wish it had ended a couple of years back, so that it'd be known as one of the greatest shows ever. It looks like they're taking the Simpsons route right now. Like I said, it isn't bad at all, this episode was fine. But I doubt it'll ever be as great as it once was.

At first I hated this episode because of how annoying randy was, but now I love because I realised it's just a commentary on how America is.

We are tired of same old formula
danieln-155252 October 2018
Someone is getting angry about the situation and then it turns out to be what the other people said (you know what i'm talking about regard to this episode). That was obvious from the begining. It seems like the show doesn't have much to say. (PS Stan said he understood fractions in previous episodes, unlike this one)

Oh, headin on down to South Park, has become quite a bore. In fact I've just realized now, I won't watch it anymore.
G-Joshua-Benjamin27 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
May contain spoilers.

I started watching this in the late 90s. I loved it. So funny and different.

I had a brain injury in 03. So, haha, I didn't watch for a while after.

Once I started watching again, it was still great.

There are a few seasons I did not like. But, the show seemed to completely change. New characters, a continuing story and other stuff. The changes made me not like it.

I thought I read that the guys were going to bring the show back to what it was. Well, I was either wrong or they chose not to.

The episode was full of so much stuff, none of which ever seemed done well or went anywhere. The show has gotten so literal.

I mean, Cartman talking to the kid about not being racist because he loved Black Panther. Really? Bore.

At one point, one of the dads was dressed in a white suite, singing, with bullets flying from both sides. He moved across the sage, without moving any limbs. He glided. I said out loud "what in the HELL, is this?"

I mean, if you want to tell a story, do it. But, don't just throw a bunch of crap in to try and make a statement.

Was there even a story in the episode? Hell, why not just have the kids come out and read the news then talk about it? Seems like it would be the same thing they are doing but it would not be such a waste of time.

Oh well, I tried this season. But, I will not continue.

There is a funny moment in almost every minute of this episode. I'd say that this was very bold move from Trey and Matt from the part of the school shooting to the marvels black panther references. Absolute must watch for every "old" South Park fan.

I just can't explain how this should be the next "respect my author-ee-tie" moment earning them billions in merch and rightfully so. Bravo, gentlemen. (Spoiler alert) Randy mime is my spirit animal. Good luck Stan... eh?
