From a moderate Hallmark Movie fan & cautious level of tolerance for the cheesy...
I really liked this movie. The lead actors were engaging. The plot, though typically predictable, was enjoyable. The Hallmark predictable plot elements bring me a level of calm and comfort, and I'm grateful for that. The plot conflict was fun to see get resolved. The fiance was obnoxious - exactly what they wanted us to feel. I fell for it. This was charming and fun. Loved the small town vibe, as always. Loved the tension between the leads and the warm friendship that grew. Again, predictable,, yet fresh, and a relaxing way to unwind for me.

Expectations were mixed here. Music is a big part of my life and this is the sort of story that is relatable to me. While country is not my favourite style of music, there is still a lot of love for it. Autumn Reeser and Jesse Metcalfe have both been good in other things, particularly Reeser who has been in a higher number of good films. Am not a fan of most of Hallmark's June Weddings films and that seasonal block has always been one of the more up and down ones every year since it was introduced, but there have been some decent and more ones.
Following on from the mediocre 'Perfect Match' and the pretty good 'Love, Again', 'A Country Wedding' is a winner. It is for me the best of the 2015 June Weddings films, helped by that it had the most appealing premise of the three, and also among the better June Weddings Hallmark films overall. Not to mention proof that Hallmark and country music do mix very well, which was also proven more than once since in other music-themed films of theirs.
It is not perfect, with some of the dialogue sounding a little awkward and sappy.
The film maybe could have gotten going a little quicker.
'A Country Wedding' has a lot of good things though that balance those not so good ones out. The best aspect is the music, which is just great. So infectiously uplifting and soothing on the ears and both Reeser and especially Metcalfe have very pleasant singing voices. The lip sync is also a lot better than most music-related Hallmark films, with there being a number of ones where this aspect has been sloppy. Reeser is like a ray of sunshine, while Metcalfe is a subtle easy going contrast. Really liked their truly endearing chemistry, that amused, charmed and heart-warmed. The supporting cast are all solid and the characters never bored or irritated me.
Furthermore, it looks good. Especially the scenery. The script has some awkwardness but is suitably light-hearted, the rapport between the two leads made me smile. The story may be formulaic and not exactly original, but its energy, charm and ability to lift the spirits more than made up for that. Not to mention that it was to me easy to relate to. The ending, though foreseeable, is sweet and doesn't ring false or feel contrived.
Overall, very nicely done. 8/10.

Although this is a 2015 Hallmark TV movie, it just recently came into my local library in the DVD format.
The film is as schmaltzy and predictable as can be, and makes no apologies for it. So if you want to get away for a while from the violence and explicitness of so many of today's movies, then the escape into this feel-good sugary sweet fantasy may be just what the doctor ordered.

The fiance had the worst dye job ever. the person responsible should never be allowed to work on another live being ever again.
This Hallmark trope - famous person returns to their small town for some reason, and ends up falling in love with either his high school flame or best friend from next door - has been done dozens of times before, but rarely as well as in A Country Wedding.
That is thanks to Jesse Metcalfe (of Desperate Housewives fame, I am reliably informed) who plays country music star Bradley Suttons who is engaged to a Hollywood starlet, Catherine, and comes home to sell his parents' old home in a small Texas town. There he runs into his childhood friend Sarah (Autumn Reeser) and the two reconnect. Then Brad decides that rather than leaving as quickly as he could (his goal upon arriving) he actually wants to have his wedding there, even though his fiancée has her heart set on a more lavish Italian wedding. Even though she doesn't appear to be a wedding planner, Brad convinces Sarah to plan his nuptials.
Of course, they end up growing closer, and you don't need me to tell you how it ends - not if you've seen more than, say, 2-3 Hallmark movies, anyway! Metcalfe and Reser have good chemistry, and that's what raises A Country Wedding above the rest of the Hallmark pack. Plus, the soundtrack, some of it sung and composed by Metcalfe himself.

Typical Hallmark movie but with a great pairing in Jessie Metcalf and Autumn Reeser. Their chemistry was engaging. I've worked with Jessie and he's the sweetest guy, a talented actor and a good musician. It's great to hear him sing and play in the movie and I also wish Autumn had sung more than her short harmonizing... if it was her she had a great voice too.
It's predictable what's going to happen but it's a delight to watch it unfold.

Following what I would call the tried and test Hallmark Channel Original Movie format, this film is a joy.
It helps when you have a leading lady as good as Autumn Reeser involved, and that there's good chemistry btween her and the leading man (Jessie Metcalfe).
The story holds up, there's some lovely moments - when Hallmark get it right with these films they really get it spot on. I don't know why recently they've felt the need to tinker so much. Perhaps because they've lost some key players and want to go for a younger audience etc.
This is charming, this is warm, and that's really what I'm looking for from this sort of film.

The pairing of Jesse and Autumn is one of the reasons this movie is engaging, delightful, and entertaining. And, Jesse's singing doesn't hurt, although after hearing the 2 seconds Autumn harmonizes with him makes me wish they had performed an entire song together. She has a lovely voice. Good job, Hallmark!

Loved this movie. The performances were really solid. The main characters had chemistry. The female lead had depth which I really liked.
It was a sweet story; loved the music and I'm not even into country.
They should make more movies like this one.

This is one of my favorite Hallmark movies. The casting is amazing; Autumn and Jessie are adorable and so believable. Every time I watch it, I hate when it ends. Where's the sequel????

This is a great classic Hallmark country romance and Autumn Reeser is fantastic! This is the story of famous country singer Bradley who has just gotten engaged to his famous Hollywood actress girlfriend Catherine and they are planning a small private wedding in Italy, but first he is going to go home to his small town to sell his childhood home. Once Bradley gets home he connects with his childhood friend and neighbor Sarah. As Bradley slows down he starts to write music and appreciate his home and home town. He decides he wants to marry Catherine in the old barn which leads to striking a deal with Sarah. He will help her mend her fence and she will help him plan his barn wedding while Catherine is finishing the film she is working on in Hollywood. Through the planning process Sarah figures out Bradley doesn't seem to know his bride to be very well...doesn't know her favorite flower, her favorite color, what flavor cake she likes, etc. It starts to become very obvious that Sarah and Bradley are meant to be together.
Sweet sweet romantic story that I recommend to all the romantics out there.

8.3. Stars.
It's such a shame these actors never get nominated for awards, well some of them do, but never for their roles in Hallmark films. Autumn Reeser has an award winning performance in 'A Country Wedding', and was she ever recognized for it? Not one peep... Ignored like a pile of junk mail. Come to think of it, I can recall this being the third movie now where she steals the show, so notably in fact, that all the other actors are stuck in the shadows. I really don't have much else to talk about in this review but to give her props. Reeser's portrayal is nothing short of brilliance...of a cowgirl working on a ranch, one that she's been running on her own for years...she is self-sufficient, strong, and lovely. And when she and Metcalf's character are flirting with the possibility of sparking the old love, her nuanced portrayal of the inner struggle, how she interprets her character's reactions to the deep feelings of love long forgotten, not fully understood because they were very young when he left town, but now love returns. As their mutual affection deepens, and she is painfully reminded of the fact that he is marrying a woman he doesn't love, doesn't know, and whose dreams he does not share.
I found myself laughing at her quirks for the pure amusement, and then smiling at her interpretation of a dignified southern woman, and weeping for her heartache so immeasurably undeserved. Autumn Reeser is the heart and soul of 'A Country Wedding'.

Love all the movies she's in! Another great performance along with the other characters. It's a simple straight forward story with a lovely ending. I always enjoy a movie with dogs, horses , and cute sheep in the background running around. I did think that pastor was in love with her but that seems to be the plot for other hallmark movies, this one kept the love story simple. Some nice singing and country scenes. I liked that the trendy barn wedding wasn't appealing to the fiancé as opposed to over the top barn weddings celebs normally have. A good watch!

I have watched A Country Wedding a few times over the years. It is my favorite Autumn Reeser movie and Jesse Metcalf isn't half bad in it either. The story moves effortlessly and the two have great chemistry together. The acting, script, and music are very well done. Even the supporting actors are believable, which isn't always the case with Hallmark. I appreciate the "realness" of the story and the authenticity of the characters. I wish Hallmark would get back to the quality that used to set them apart instead of pandering to the crowd. If they went back to their roots I would be watching more, that's for sure.

The first love you have leaves a great memory for most. The actors played so well off each other. Autumn did such a great job playing a realistic farmer/rancher with the true determination to the right thing even if it hurts. Bravo. Another great Hallmark "love wins out again movie".
Yeah. We all know Hallmark movies are cheesy and predictable. Some of admit that a little romantic mind candy now and then is a fine thing. This one's so good, you won't even have to feel guilty. When you need one of those feel-good films that warms your heart and makes you feel like an optimist, this is your movie. Enjoy!

This is a good movie! Autumn is awesome in this and really anything she's in! I see the movie was filmed in Canada. But I couldn't help but notice the little mountain town of Silverton, CO at the 9:35 min mark when he's in the bank in the next scene. I've been there a million times and when the overshot came up I knew it right away!
