Brilliant

This episode i felt was a turning point for the show, here Vera is not just portrayed as a hard copper who has been in the job for years, the character begins to show raw emotion. The ending scene in the interview room is astounding from Brenda Blethyn, i believe that alone as an award worthy performance. The episode as a whole and especially the finale was very dramatic and kept the viewers on their toes. The show is becoming less predictable which makes it more addictive for the viewer, it's not easy to guess 'who did it' or to predict other events in the show.

I can see this show being a heavy weight among the crime dramas due to the popularity and the exciting plots.

In the previous episode, Shadows in the Sky (2015), the restaurant overlooking the "tilt bridge," AKA the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, crossing the River Tyne between Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne was featured. It is featured again here, but has become an Asian/Chinese establishment, owned/managed by Huang (Paul Courtenay Hyu). Note, however, that some Chinese hanging lamps and red table cloths have been added.
