Sadly having to miss the title at the online Cine-Excess due to my laptop breaking down,I made a note of the title, for what I hoped would be a future viewing. Finding the film streaming on Amazon, I settled in for an unsettling viewing.

Note: Review contains some plot details.

View on the film:

Looking in the bathroom mirror attempting to put her makeup on whilst her thoughts go back to the sudden passing of her baby, Zephani Idoko gives an astonishing, subtle performance as Abena, with Zephani capturing Abena attempting give the appearance externally of holding things together, whilst on the inside, breaking apart to the deep, painful grief.

While having to face his own grief, Bambadjan Bamba gives a thoughtful performance as Kwame, whose supportive, loving view of his wife Abena is tightly expressed by Bamba, as the supernatural desends on the household.

Making his feature film writing/ directing debut, the screenplay by Harry Owens takes a mature examination of grief, that is finely balanced with a seeping supernatural Horror into the lives of the couple, via every noise, and gradual alteration to the appearance of the household, presses down on the raw, grieving nerves of Bamba and Abena.

Elegantly matching the tone of the script, director Owens & cinematographer John Honore fill the air with a somber atmosphere of graceful, long lingering shots covering the sadness of the couple left hanging in the air, as saturated, fractured dissolves fade on the unsettled.
