A photo finish

And with that, the season draws to a close; and with a eyebrow-raising finish, no less. 'Persona Non Grata' nails the well-directed finale that skillfully teases the next season. The FBI draws ever closer, Gabriel pushes for the Jennings to pack it in and flee to Russia, and Paige's teenage years become even more troubled.

It's a great episode, consistently gripping and keeping the flame at a steady burn.

The wait for next season feels so long.

Strong finish to the forth series

William gets himself into a perilous situation.

It's hard to say I enjoyed this quite downbeat episode but it's as well made as so many others in The Americans.

The plot sort of wraps up one espionage related storyline, but nicely plants a few seeds for what is likely to come next. Even though it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger I can't say it's exciting in the way some of the previous seasons finished. Probably because certain things that are suggested to possibly happen can't do so without ruining the premise of the entire show. It's quite melancholy and reflective through a number of compellingly realistic and watchable scenes.

Cinematography, editing and the use of popular music works superbly as ever.

All performances are excellent with Dylan Baker standing out in a number of memorable scenes.

For me it's an 8.5/10, but I round upwards.

A good episode! A sketchy mission of Liz and Phil dealing with a deadly passagens! Stan and his K G B equivalent have major plot twist where Stan's investigations blend into Liz and Phil's mission. A education episode of events, and dealings with the military and germ warfare. Could such events happen during cold war? Possibly could! The direction, characters, and feel of Persona Non Grata episode is so real. The Paige dealing with the realization of being a K G B puppet becomes personal baggage dead story time! A strong seasonal final! Eight out of ten stars.
