Steph's return seems designed to creep the audience out and it's hard to tell if it's deliberate or if Carla Bonner's trying too hard to be nice to the point that it comes across as fake and deranged.The fact that every other thing that comes out of her mouth is a lie, as she tries to sneak back into town, although it was never going to remain secret for long given how many people she knows pass through the place.
There is some other stuff going on.Naomi, Imogen and Josh's revenge against Paul turns out not to have much to do with Paul anyway, it's all to do with a school closure storyline that he's merely a convenient face for.And some exploration of Nate and Aaron's relationship that doesn't exactly point to a harmonious relationship, with a curious twist ending.
