This is the mid season finale and although you think after the events of the last few weeks, some of the suspects should had been accounted for and be in the clear. It does not mean they are innocent. Then again given how almost all have skeletons it does make you wonder how good the FBI screening process is for the recruits.

At Quantico, the trainees are given a long weekend off for New Year's Eve. Alex, Natalie, Shelby and Nimah not want to be with their respective families end up spending time together.

Caleb brings the others to a political gathering where Shelby meets his mother Senator Claire Haas, a Democratic Party grandee.

In the present, Alex, Nimah, and Natalie find Simon with a detonator taped to his hand in the hotel where the Democratic delegates are staying. Elias admits to being coerced by the real culprit in kidnapping and framing Simon.

Miranda looks to defuse the bomb, Liam gets the delegates away to the command centre. It turn outs there was a second bomb in the command centre which does go off. We see a flashback of Caleb going to a deposit box in a bank that would later become the command centre after the Grand Union Station bombing.

Thew show certainly wants to remain convoluted and baffling, the various romantic tangles leaves me lukewarm but kudos to the series for still being tense but the diminishing band of trainees surely cannot be stretched much further in the coming weeks. We need more suspects.
