Give me back my time please.
jimboba-110 September 2016
Some good cameos - James Cann in particular - other than that, I cannot see how the positive reviews of this film can stand. Truly dire film on all levels - (some of the) acting, script, plot, editing, music, etc. It felt like a 'favour' movie where most of the cast pitched up for an hour or two to do their bit then it was all stitched together in to something that lasted as long as a feature film.

I kept watching hoping for the gags to come because that's what this film needed to give it any saving grace - make it a comedy because that's all that would save it. (Made in 2015? I paused the film to double check this - it felt like early 80s on a shoestring+favours.)

I don't know what I just watched. Would have been better as a comedy.
bushowit19 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I give it a 4 because of the camera work and some of the acting. I don't think the songs in the background should overlap with the score. The songs sounded like the lead actor singing them (same voice) and the feel wasn't right for the visuals. Wrong songs for the visuals. The 'restaurant' is obviously a conference centre. The 'nightclub' is the same conference centre (the chairs, walls and doors give that away). The pacing is slow (too much talking at the table and why was there a whole song sung by the lead actor in the 'nightclub'?)

Was Eric Roberts phoning in his performance? Why was he even there? Also, if you rip off someone's balls, there would be a lot more blood and a lot more screaming. If you rip off someone's arm and beat them with 'the gooey end', same thing. The heart ripped out? More blood, but the person may not scream so much, so that was okay. And who cooks pasta wearing a fedora?

A rhetorical reversal starts the 'family first' ending monologue, while the slow mood music 'oooos' in the background. So, he gets to have some closure at the end. This could have been better as a comedy.

Awful
sparkgary13 May 2017
Overly long and boring. Speaking a lot of Italian does not make it authentic. Neither a good mob or vampire movie. Some good actors but the directing was lost. A waste of 2 hours. I almost turned it off several times. Cute cameo by George Chuvalo. This movie has made in Canada all over it. And I am Canadian.

Wonderful!
mikekorn29 October 2015
I love Indi films for the simple reason that they are more raw and truthful without all that Hollywood glossiness. Sicilian Vampire has great a rawness and reality feel that immerses you right into the movie. The story is not overwhelming but it takes it to a level of reality unseen before in a vampire movie. The director creates scenarios where you get absorbed with the characters so that you're there every step of the way with them. The cast is unbelievable for an Indi film which already tells you something. Actors are looking to do something different every once in a while so they can flex their acting chops, and they certainly do that with this film. James Caan, Daryl Hannah, Paul Sorvino, Robert Loggia, Armand Assante, Robert Davi, Michael Paré, Eric Roberts, Daniel Baldwin, Frank D'Angelo…what a cast!

Wow, Love all these fake reviews.
johnmackayinc31 August 2017
THis movie is terrible. Don't let all the fake reviews fool you. Frank D is very well known for his fake accounts and paid comments on youtube, twitter, etc. IMDb is no different. Frank cant act, cant sing and is a grade A narcissist.

Anyone comparing this to Goodfellas, or any other quality gangster flick is obviously a paid shill. This movie was only made because of Frank's billionaire buddy, and to massage Frank's massive, monumental ego. Even the soundtrack of awful songs are his own.

Do not read any other reviews. They are all fake. This movie is hilarious in in efforts to be good. James Caan and some of the others must have needed the pay really badly.

Why Such A Ridiculously High Rating?
mboyd198624 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I think IMDb need to verify the authenticity of the reviewers because there is no way this pathetic movie deserves a rating above 5. I can only presume that the reviewers on the first page were all paid shills.

And why are they all on the first page? Presumably as soon as the film appeared on IMDb they all got to work to fill the first page up with great reviews. So here is the truth - it's rubbish, pathetic rubbish. I watched the first 10 minutes and decided to come here to find out if it really was as bad as I thought it was. I actually read the reviews on the first page and decided to give it a bit longer, hoping it would improve. After 45 minutes I'd had enough.

The rating here is fake. Just like fake news, IMDb is being used to promote bad films by a few "reviewers" that are in fact shills. It's very worrying because it means we cannot believe IMDb's ratings any more.

Shame.

So if you watch this film, you have been warned.

Very Impressed!
jasonpaulino-282011 July 2016
I just finished watching this film at on iTunes, and it was nothing like I expected. Very little gore, with a cool and somehow likable main character. Frank D'Angelo gives an outstanding performance as Santino the main character. James Caan is terrific as Professor Bernard Issaacs. I was also impressed by Paul Sorvino and Robert Davi with the portrayal of their characters as mob bosses. The film takes a modern story of crime and gangsters and adds a Vampire twist to it which makes it a very interesting piece of work. The film also brings forward the concept of an existing underworld or afterlife as expressed with scenes of Sonny communicating with his father. If you're looking for a total horror movie, this is not it. This is drama with elements of suspense, mystery and crime and there are only a few gruesome scenes in the film compared to typical Vampire films. If you like vampires as ordinary heroes -- and not the fangy or sparkly kind – you'll enjoy it this movie immensely.

Worst Movie Ever
keithsal16 July 2017
This is a vanity project by Frank D'Angelo. The writing, acting, direction and production are all extremely amateurish and that is being kind. The good reviews for this movie are so obviously fake it's hilarious. Read the real reviews by real critics- Google is your friend. The storyline runs like it was written by an eleven year old who just discovered profanity. There are scenes in this film and I hesitate to call it a film, that don't add to the plot or the character. At least ten minutes are spent showing him urinating with difficulty and waking up from hangovers. It appears that someone failed to hire an editor. D'Angelo has convinced a few of his marginal movie star buddies to appear in this abomination. I'm sure he's a nice guy but Frank D'Angelo should stick to making juice. If I could have given this a zero rating I would.

A gem - a rare find!
anchetachadrick14 August 2016
Good movies about mobsters are fairly rare. How many have come out since "Goodfellas" appeared 25 years ago? So it's a pleasant surprise to see a good mob movie like "Sicilian Vampire". This is an example of fine film making and storytelling. In the realm of great directors, Frank D'Angelo hits it out of the park with this movie. When it comes to gangsters and vampires, this film is now certainly up there as one of my all-time favorites. Sicilian Vampire is a depiction of a modern mobster family. By telling the story through the eyes of the main character the movie grounds itself in a measure of realism, stripping away a great deal of unnecessary cheap delight.

A solid cast of actors that deliver some of the best performances of their lives. And a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and won't let go with some very interesting effects and several superb well-handled action sequences. A film not to be missed, I highly recommend it.

Very Very Bad
robb-5355211 May 2017
I only gave this a 2 for the entertainment value of being very very very bad. Plus to all those fake 10 star reviews, why not throw in a couple of 7 or 8 , or is someones ego that big he cant bear to do it. In case I forgot to mention , this movie is very very bad...Maybe a bigger budget. Maybe a better script. Maybe a lot of things. But this movie is very very bad.

Really awful mafia/vampire hybrid
kannibalcorpsegrinder14 August 2017
Heading off on an annual tradition, a group of friends arrives at a cabin in the woods for a fun weekend only for one to get bitten by a strange creature and when he suddenly starts to develop strange abilities and sets out to use them to right the wrongs and protect his family.

Frankly, this was quite a terrible effort. Among the films' many problems is the fact that there's just way too much time wasted here as this one is simply way too long. There are way too many scenes here that go on far longer than they should or should have been completely eliminated altogether, from how long it takes to get ready for their trip to the exploits of the group at the cabin goofing around where they're joking around playing cards as the others look on in the car outside and the scenes of the change when he returns home makes for a slow and sluggish beginning that drags the film out endlessly. Likewise, other scenes that can be removed altogether include the truly lame exhibition at the nightclub where he shows up to take out the guy harassing his daughter and her friends with a ludicrous martial arts display, the interminably long dinner sequence at the restaurant where everyone goes around for what feels like forever talking about business before they start telling jokes to each other that takes up more time or the sequence involving him singing a full-on karaoke mix at a nightclub really come together to draw this one out. By managing to feature all these scenes that could've been trimmed down or flat-out removed altogether, the film is rather light on actual horror action which is another slight issue, keeping this one focused so heavily on the mafia lifestyle that there's little need for being a vampire as this one almost could remove that aspect and change the story much if at all. Very rarely do we actually get any idea what he is since he never seems to fall under the behavioral traits of the creature, never seems to show any need to feast on blood and never has any real need to be that creature since there's no mention of him being one. The only scene remotely related to the disease features a cool idea, but it's completely forgotten about and never mentioned again, and with a minor rewrite at the end, this one offers up absolutely nothing that makes this needing to be placed in the genre. This even offers no idea of how he got to be that way, with the bat being the only hint of anything going on but even that raises far more questions than it answers and the whole incident is immediately dropped right after it's brought up. Added together with abysmal production values that really highlight how terrible and cramped in the entire film feels, it has a ton of problems that really have little means of being overlooked. The main thing here is the gore, which is still shrouded in shadows but this one still has a few decent and bloody moments scattered throughout the finale where he goes on the rampage to actually get his revenge. However, this one has absolutely nothing of value here.

Rated Unrated/R: Extreme Graphic Language and Mild Violence.

It is The Room of Vampire Mobster movies
bourchakoun25 June 2018
Hilariously bad - were it not for the impressive cast, then it would be comparable to a low-IQ badly done amateur project created by a moron.

There is nothing in the movie worth watching except for the cast who are obviously somehow paid off to play in such a terrible garbage movie. 11 mio. $ budget must have gone almost entirely to them.

Vanity project for D'Angelo is too much praise - it's a vanity crap he took while expecting praise.

One of my all time favorites!
handsomejonathonreyes29 June 2016
I just watched Sicilian Vampire on Google Play - finally a movie that does not suck. I truly enjoyed this film. I am a vampire movie freak and this is certainly one of the best I've seen to date. A real good story with plenty of action and not a lot of blood and gore. Very well thought out plot with a great cast of characters. It's finally great to see a director that breaks out of the box and does not use an old formula used over and over again for vampire movies. This movie stands in a class all by itself and is destined to be one of the greats. I highly recommend this movie as a top shelf favorite. Watch it if you get a chance, you will not be disappointed.

An incredible older all star team of actors.. However ,the movie was very very slow paced, and didnt live up to a vampire movie expectations. For this kind of talent , the movie should have been much better.

The best movie experience ever!
ahmedlink-7650220 March 2016
I watched Sicilian Vampire at the Landmark Theatre in St. Catharines on Friday night with my wife and it was and awesome experience. But it did not start that way because we were running late. As we arrived we noticed that there was a red carpet into the theatre, we did not think too much of it because the movie was about to start so we rushed right in to the theatre. As we sat down the movie started playing and it was intense with the music and scenery. Big sound, big visuals of the city just beautifully shot. Overall I thought the movie was very skillfully written and the acting was superb with a cast of real notable actors. There were some very dramatic scenes and some really hilarious scenes especially with James Caan. As the movie played the entire audience was engulfed in the moment, hanging on every word with gasps and laughter at the appropriate times. It was a real enjoyable movie, the saddest thing about the movie was the ending, because we did not want it to end. But as it ended there was a thunder of ovation from the audience and cheers. Then to our surprise a few people from the audience stood up and walked to the front of the theatre, apparently they were some of the actors from the movie. Now we realized why there was the red carpet outside, this topped off a great evening. The actors were there watching the movie with us and then we asked them questions about their experience in making the movie. They were amazing, they answered every question and were very appreciative that we all enjoyed the film. Needless to say this was one of the best movie experiences of our lives.

This film is the king of fake reviews
Xenophon4 December 2019
How do you tell fake reviews? when a reviewer has only rated 2 films in 5 years and they are both given an 8-10 and both films are by the same guy, well if the shoe fits..........; the only reason I've grudgingly gave this movie a 2 was for the number name actors in it and for Phil Esposito cause I used to be a Bruin fan when I was a kid; If there were ever a case for a voluntarily Lost Film, this pile o crap is it

bad bad movie
SnoopyStyle3 February 2019
Sonny Traficante (Frank D'Angelo) recounts the story of his life. He was raised by Sicilian mobsters right off the boat. He goes on a boys' trip with his mobster family where he's bitten by a vampire bat.

The names in this movie are amazing; James Caan, Daryl Hannah, Paul Sorvino, Robert Loggia, Armand Assante, Robert Davi, Michael Paré, Eric Roberts, and others. These are Hollywood legends from the 80's, 90's, and even today. Some have fallen away but all of them are recognizable names. What happened? This is a bad movie. The lead is the blandest of the lot. It doesn't surprise me that he's the director and writer. This is amateur hour with a guy over his head. He thinks he's a great filmmaker and star. In reality, the surrounding cast overshadows him in every scene. He's flailing away and everybody else has more charisma in their pinky finger than in his whole body. Even if one of the other actors take over the lead, D'Angelo is basically an amateur filmmaker with more gumption than skills. He has no vision, no story telling sense, nor any ear for dialogue. The big Hollywood names only remind the audience of this film's futility.

Try to Make a Worse Film... I Dare You!
brice-945-41002711 July 2018
You can't do it. You can't possibly do it.

Frank D'Angelo is a master of making terrible, terrible movies while actually trying to make good movies (and somehow convincing himself that he is succeeding)... but this really is his Citizen Kane of ego fueled bullpucky.

Added to the usual roundup of Hollywood has been actors he somehow convinces to be in his awful movies d'Angelo has somehow convinced James Caan to be in this. Yes, the James Caan from The Godfather. If you Google James Caan and Sicilian Vampire (and you definitely should) you'll find a fantastic interview, the title is something like "why on earth was James Caan in this awful movie???" Anyway, read that and you'll find out how Caan fell on such hard times he was forced to make this garbage movie to pay his alimony, and the movie is so bad he skipped out on the premiere and actually used this movie in court to convince the judge to cut his alimony payments because being forced to do this movie caused great harm to him and his career.

Anyway, this mob boss (obviously D'Angelo casts himself in this starring role) opens a crate of bananas, gets bit by a bat and becomes a mafia vampire. Keep in mind that this is not I repeat NOT a comedy!

Watch for the scene where all the other mob guys force him to get up on stage and sing a song for no apparent reason other than Frank D'Angelo loves to get up on stage and sing songs to show off how talented he is.

It would be hilarious if this all wasn't so sad in real life. The guy needs some kind of help or maybe just some real friends to tell him to stop flushing his money down the toilet like this.

As always be sure to read all the positive reviews here that are for sure by real people who saw and loved this movie, hahaha.

Low IQ
LOL101LOL19 January 2017
Check the reviews on this horrible film made by some one with the IQ of a baboon! Most of the reviews are done by Frank D'Angelo, what a joke he is, but he is not as bad as this horrible film, it is about the worst I have seen.

And if you read the board on here, Frank D'Angelo even threatens people that ''we are going to trace your account'' what does this fool think he is? I hope he reads this and traces my account, as I would gladly entertain his little dick syndrome, what an absolute fool he is.

I am not even going to say anything about this dribble of a film, as it is an insult to any one with an IQ above 10, yeah it is that bad!

IMDb you used to be a credible source of information, but that's some years ago now, and the ratings for this film with all its fake reviews is the proof of this.

Avoid this junk film, and anything that has Frank D'Angelo in it! A big fat ZERO out of 10!

Really enjoyed it!
gwapophillipmartinez11 June 2016
As soon as I saw Sicilian Vampire as a new release on BellTV I had to watch it, and I'm glad I did. We saw it twice in a 24hr period and we enjoyed it even more the second time because we picked up things we missed the first time. The cast is spot on, whoever casted the movie really did a good job, they picked the right actors for each character. The acting was fantastic which is expected from seasoned actors, but the characters they played really had an impact on how good the overall story and film played out. I believe the basis of any good movie is a solid story and script and this has both. This film kept me riveted and interested for the entire two hours without missing a beat. Totally recommend it.

A jack of all trades is a master of none.
Kyle-Kyohazard1 December 2019
I'm always worried when i see a movie that's written, directed, produced and starring the same person. This movie did nothing to alter that thought. A great concept and top notch actors are hampered by dialogue and mediocre 80's TV movie direction. I legitimately turned the off movie half way though (and I rarely if ever do that). I gave more than one star just for the audacity of this movie to pull off getting so many great actors to agree to do this movie.

Brilliant and Interesting
taymichael-303233 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie at Cineplex Cinemas in Vaughan. This is twist on the classic tale of vampires and an excellent one at that. Frank D'Angelo stars and directs a much needed refresh on the vampire world with a unique perspective only he can provide. Sonny Traficante is a dynamic character that is likable from the start. Once he gains his "superpowers", you find yourself rooting for his success despite his obvious initial resistance. Though it may seem doubtful, the ability to talk to the dead (a side effect of the bite) is a trait most people wish for. This is a twist on the classic story of someone trying to overcome their past and right their wrongs, something everyone can relate to. Would highly recommend this movie with its superstar cast (James Caan, Daryl Hannah, Paul Sorvino, and Robert Loggia). GO SEE IT!

An Actual Real Review - With Very Tiny Spoilers
gregberne1112 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a total joke! There is only one scene where there is anything resembling a vampire and not a single person gets bit in the whole movie, except his wife in a dream... most of the movie is just guys talking at a table and telling each other long boring jokes I've already heard a hundred times before. The even tell the same joke twice all the way through! The. Same. Long. Joke. All. The. Way. Through. The scene where the bat flies out of the box of bananas (yes you read that correctly) is funny simply because it is so bad but that doesn't happen until like 45 minutes in and then it's just more talking for the rest of the movie. The sound and lighting quality is terrible so you can't really make out what they're supposed to be saying which is probably good because everything we did understand was just terrible and stupid anyway. We expected it to be awful like this guy's other movies but this isn't even awful in a fun way where you can laugh at it, it is just mind numbing it's so boring and pointless. Scenes where people walk for several minutes pointlessly. A scene where the wife and daughter go to the door, but the door is locked, so they have to walk around to another door... why? Just to get this movie long enough to qualify as being a movie? Last of all is Frank D'Angelo who is responsible for writing and directing and making this garbage, his acting is even worse than all the other mistakes in this. 1 out of 10 and I would gladly give it zero or even a negative number if that was an option. One of the worst things we have ever seen.
