Haunted Campus

I wanted to like "Haunted Campus" (aka "Hônteddo kyanpasu"), I really did. I mean with it being a Japanese horror movie and such, then chances were that this would actually be a good movie. But I am getting a bit ahead of myself here.

So of course I sat down to watch this 2016 movie from writer Ryû Kushik and director Satoshi Takemoto. Sure, I had not even heard about the movie prior to getting to sit down and watch it in 2020.

The storyline in this movie was just unfathomably pointless and unappealing. I must admit that I actually fell asleep during the movie, then woke up, jostled from my slumber and resumed watching the movie, feeling as if I had missed nothing while being out. And while I was awake and watching, I must admit that my attention was fast dwindling on the movie and wandered to my phone.

This movie was just plainly boring and dull. The characters and storyline just utterly failed to entertain me or captivate me. So it was a major drag and a bore to suffer through this movie.

There are far better ghost movies readily available in the Japanese cinema, so your time, money and effort will be better spent on another movie. I am rating "Haunted Campus" a generous two out of ten stars. While the movie did have some worth to it in terms of production and effect, the movie was just killed by a lack of proper story and a lack of interesting characters.
