Great animation. Well made
donjason-8090926 January 2017
I can not understand why this cartoon was not picked up in a heart beat. It is one of the better thought out, quality animated kids shows out there. At first I thought it was a money issue where it costs just too much to make an episode of this quality of a cartoon, but something seems to be missing. Since 2002 and this show has not made any headway? It seems like the show is being held back on alt purpose.

I am convinced there is a agenda in children's programs that is purposely manipulated to only broadcast shows that fit a certain mold. It is not only about the money or the ratings. Money is evil and ratings lie. We all know that by now. But more than that, this show definitely did not fit someone's plan for what children should watch and get exposure to.

It had a good plot line, great animation, the characters were not annoying or just stupidly loud and obnoxious like 90% of the shows on Cartoon Network. I mean this is a show where EVERYONE that I have recommended to say is so much better than anything their children are currently watching. Yet it does not get picked up. Hmm...interesting.

Addictive
Put this on for my daughter and I'm stuck on it with her. It's great with cool characters and super colour animations. Can't wait for season 3 and more!

Matrix Movie Cartoon Remix
wendymariehowellwmh12 August 2018
They introduce Smith toward the end of Season 1 & then the inventor looks like a Cartoon version of the character Morpheus. If I wanted to watch the Matrix I would turn those movies on. The cartoon has genius artistic design all throughout until it references another Movie. At that point my mind pulled away from entertainment into annoyance. 8 out of 10 shows reference the Matrix movies. It gets old quickly.

loved it
angel-8222410 February 2016
My grandchildren check each time they come over to see if another episode of Lost in Oz has come out. We loved it! (Yes, even me- grandma) We are really hoping to see this become a series! It has been so disappointing to see so many animated series coming out now having sexual innuendos. Lost in Oz showed no evidence of that whatsoever. Our grand daughters were able to relate to a curious little girl with a good heart. I think it is very sad to see so many people with a gift for making children's shows use that gift in such a sexually explicit way. So many of the animated young ladies on these shows are clothed so tacky. Sadly, children so often do desire to imitate what they see. We keep watching the same Lost in Oz pilot over and over again. :) I guess we will continue to do that until the next episode comes out.

27 and enjoyed long after my child fell asleep
alexmeadowcroft25 August 2016
OK, so I have a young child who loves the animated films (as do I)... She fell asleep today after about 5 minutes of this pilot episode (clearly worn out today). I however continued to watch, finding myself literally gripped. To my annoyance there hasn't been any more episodes released (yet) my kid .... OK I'll have to watch this again so my child can see it. Very good story line and animation. A few adult jokes inserted into the series similar to Pixar and others and it'll be a great hit! Stick to the same style and length. Maybe a better theme tune, something fun and catchy. Otherwise... 10-/10. From an adult and his inner child .

Absolutely loved this pilot - Hoping to see rest of series!

Absolutely loved this pilot - Hoping to see rest of series!

There are so many horrible animated series on the market nowadays with horrible story, vocabulary, bad ideas, weak characters, broken attitude, even the animation is bad, and our poor kids think it's OK to have fun watching such movies (typcal modern cartoon: bombs, wars, explosions, body parts flying, tons of violence, sexual innuendos, tiny or semi-transparent dresses)… it's horrible what we expose our kids to – WELL THIS ONE IS FINALLY DIFFERENT!

Now 'Lost in Oz' has high quality content, good language and nice phrases to pick up, it's calm, gentle, characters nicely designed and dressed and so on. From the first minute of watching it I knew it's a great plot, movie and was happy to see some quality series coming out on the market… we really deserved it.

Then, yes we parents usually have to watch it to, either to discuss it with kids, maybe before going to sleep talk and foresee what could happen in next episode, or just accompany them.

I love animation, true colors (HDR alike) and everything. It's a kid's movie that kids should follow as an example, nothing below this is accepted for my kids and family… It's same class as a high budget Disney movie. Totally respect and love the idea.

Are there any release dates for other episodes??

Watched Three Times and Loved it

Warning: Spoilers
Loved it and I'm now 20 years old.

Really wish that more episodes would come out because I think that Lost in OZ is really awesome. So what I wanna is where are the other episodes are because it's killing me not knowing what's happening after Dorothy meets the scarecrow in Glinda's castle. I also would like to know where Glinda is what happened to her. Does nobody know if they will ever make anymore episodes because I really need know what happens.

Cute updated story
ilikeemd26 April 2021
Watched the first episode and found it enchanting. However, wheat is still king in Kansas. Corn is grown more in Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. The episode gives a new twist to this old story. I thought it was cute. It is worth watching.

I watched because I work in the flour milling industry, and I love Kansas! I eventually want to build a model railroad and name the town Emerald, Kansas. Frequently visited by notable historic and fictional Kansas characters.

Can't wait for more - Thanks Amazon!
jessicamhardwick19 February 2016
My daughter and I just loved this pilot - everything about it is great, from the character development, the dialogue and character interaction left us wanting more.

My 5-year old is fascinated with building things and loves story books like" Rosie Revere, Engineer" and "The Most Marvelous Thing", so she was thrilled that Dorothy is a fellow tinkerer and she wants to talk about all of her inventions. I liked the interaction between the mother and daughter and that sense that this had all happened before. There are great references to the original while definitely taking the series in it's own direction. The yellow brick road has turned into the yellow brick line and Dorothy's blue and white checkered shoes are reminiscent of the original's dress.

I found each of the characters intriguing and want to know more about their back stories - it seems like they have a lot of fun directions to go with and I don't see them running out of ideas any time soon.

My daughter and I were thrilled to hear that Amazon picked it up and ordered the series. They can't start airing episodes soon enough for us.

Such a waste!
carl_k-754254 August 2015
My kids, and myself admittedly, absolutely loved this pilot! Was gutted to find out that it was a complete flop in 2002 so never got fully released. It's always a shame when something like this goes under the radar and never gets bought by a company when there are so many other horrendous films and TV shows that do! I know that IF this ever got released as a full series my kids would definitely be bugging me to buy it for them or rent it or watch on Netflix/Amazon or wherever. I pray to the guys who made this to go to Netflix and TRY to get this released again, or Amazon, whatever. As I said earlier there's so much bad TV out there it's sad when something my kids loved so much from one episode never made it. Maybe companies need to start letting the right people choose what does and doesn't get shown, and in this instance they should be letting kids do the reviewing for them!

great

Warning: Spoilers
I loved series 1. I hope they come out with a series 2.

The animated show is set in a modern, metropolitan Emerald City in which 12-year-old Dorothy Gale II befriends West, a young, street-smart witch grappling with dark temptations, and Ojo, a giant munchkin.

After Dorothy discovers a strange green notebook hidden under the floorboards of her house in Kansas, a giant green tornado tears her whole house off its foundation, stranding Dorothy and her dog Toto in the magical land of Oz.

Instead of the Yellow Brick Road, there is the Yellow Brick Line, a train system that seems long shuttered and unlikely to take Dorothy anywhere. She soon befriends a sarcastic, street-smart girl named West and a surprisingly big munchkin named Ojo, while also learning of the mechanics of magic and the dire magic shortage in Oz. Before the pilot episode is through, Dorothy will have made some surprising new friends and a potentially dangerous new enemy, losing one opportunity to get home in the process.

In the last few episodes of the first season, it is revealed that this series is actually a sequel of sorts to the books as Dorothy's great grandmother is the original Dorothy Gale.

Such a surprisingly original and epic cartoon!
raddchicks4 May 2021
Although this is based on a classic movie which itself is based on a classic book, anyone who has a mind that is just a little bit open would enjoy this extremely creative cartoon. It has an exciting and engaging plot that could appeal to anyone of any age, it has its own unique story that doesn't tamper with anyone's nostalgia, and it has beautiful and stunning visuals. As an artistic person, I always enjoy looking at the artistic animation in this show. It is very colorful and detail-oriented. Try it, you'll like it for sure!

Can't wait for Season 3
johnpcooper13 February 2019
Having watched it before launch as a series when it was a CGI film "like" entry on Amazon Prime Video. Including the original live action version as a child. This is an amazing expansion of the universe in which the character Dorothy, Toto and friends inhabit as part of the canon.

I now can't wait for Season 3 of this series.
