The scene at the diner when Jeff is under the truck and finds a guitar pick with his initials and sacred heart logo really happened. Jeff was on his way back from a show in Austin and stopped at a gas station. When he got out of the car in Kingman AZ, the guitar pic was face down on the pavement. When he turned it over, the pic revealed is initials and the sacred heart logo that he had already been using for the "Songhearts" logo. The pic in the scene is the actual pick he found.
The opening story line of a man in a white van offering $500 to mob character if he'd tell him where a kid and her mother were staying, came from a real life experience at the motel. Jeff Mix and Zohaib Latif were shooting a pick up shot at the motel and a white van pulled in and asked Jeff if he'd seen a kid and his mother. Jeff told him no but had actually see them minutes before. They incorporated this into the script. The actual van and early exchange was caught on film and is on the facebook page. Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes.
