Sex & Nudity

  • There's one short make-out scene, without nudity. A man is lying next to a woman, we see him caress her covered breast for a couple of seconds. Then we see her waking up the next day; her bare breasts are briefly visible.
  • A man on a balcony urinates on a woman. We see liquid falling, and then for a few seconds, his penis is visible end-on from a longer distance away.
  • We glimpse a DVD case titled "Anal Vision 3D."
  • Two women walking down the street are mistaken for prostitutes and a passerby asks for a threesome; prostitutes in skimpy attire are seen somewhat out of focus in the background.
  • There are one or two lines of vulgar dialog referring to sex acts.
  • The panties of a woman strapped to a gurney are seen for a moment. A woman strips to bra and panties and swim and sits on the beach in a longer scene. Many of the women in the film wear low-cut tops; some wear form-fitting tops without bras.

Violence & Gore

  • A moped hits a pedestrian and both persons are knocked down; there's a little blood on one person's head.
  • One person breaks a bottle over someone's head, and some blood is seen.
  • A person lost in thought bangs her head against a glass wall; we see a slight swelling.
  • A woman holding a knife threatens to harm herself.
  • There are a couple of scuffles where persons are pushed to the ground.
  • Persons in psychiatric facilities are sometimes controlled with varying degrees of force. In one facility some people are strapped into beds with multiple restraints.

Profanity

  • There are just a very few uses of "f*ck", "sh*t", and "damn" and one or two of "bitch", "slut", and "ass." One tirade of slurs consists of "nance", "fag", "homo", "buttf*cker." The finger is flashed once.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Wine and beer are consumed socially without obvious inebriation.
  • One main character is often seen smoking cigarettes. Smoking by others is infrequent and brief.
  • A wide variety of psychiatric medicines are named. They're used, and abused, and traded between patients. Morphine and other drugs are stolen from someone.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A person's pain over having lost parental rights to their child is depicted intensely throughout much of the film.
  • Although shown in flashbacks, a suicide/murder attempt is stressful.
  • Several scenes of dangerous behavior are frightening.
  • Troubled and erratic behavior by psychiatric patients is seen throughout the film. Most of the time, the tone of the film is intensely noisy and stressful.
