The idea and concept are pretty good. The base of what happens to the main character is very interesting (but here is not well developed) I mean, birth registers and family names in Japan. You are no one if you do not have one; and in this computerized era all could be possible if you are not in the "data" or if you ARE in such data.

Regarding the visuals and the concept, the film nailed it. Half of the piece is shot in monochrome with some sepia and red tints. Really good; and worked side by side with the music of Bloodthirsty butchers. However, is not 35mm or 16mm so no glorious deep Black and White. Then, the main character find his way so a new beginning occurs hence the change to full color. In that scene, the color palette is very nice with a hint to 16mm. -The story, could seems confusing at first glance but the idea of the director, I think, was to film like an Anime. Camera work is pretty interesting; playing with camcorders, and manual cameras alike. The still camera shots have great angles in the monochrome part then the movements were shoot in different style. With all that and some cool actors like Sometani, Ayano and Shibukawa, you could think that would work but the plot just dispel to the end. Like a video game for kids. The idea is not bad but has no depth; finished kind of silly and cliché losing power and credibility.
