Good episode

It was good episode. I feel sorry for Kevin. I think he wished for a family. Apparently he is trying to be happy, he is trying to ignore voices. Every time he wakes up in different place and doesn't know how he came there, he seems confused and want to know what is hapining to him. Also I like the edit with the song 'where is my mind' . Right song for this episode.

A blur...

The Leftovers has never moved the plot this quickly, it's a bit off putting to be honest. None of the main characters have ever been this happy either, aside of Kevin losing his mind, which makes me very worried for all of them. The showrunners basically summed up any messy plots they didn't want to dive into and moved, some of, the characters to a new locale. This episode basically moves about as quickly through the plot as 4-5 season 1 episodes. A Matter of Geography isn't a bad episode, It's just all a bit overwhelming.

The Garveys At Their Finest

What a great episode! I loved every single minute of it. The new Garvey family has some great dialogues here and Kevin's despairing scene with the song "Where Is My Mind" in the background is just perfect. Also Nora has some nice scenes. I loved the one in her house, which gave episode 2 its title. Jill is also a likable character, Margaret Qualley does a great job.

I love how this episode wraps up the season opener in such a perfect way. The ending is interesting and leads to more questions. I love this kind of storytelling and "The Leftovers" does an amazing job delivering tension, character development and, well, questions.

Two episodes in and you can tell that season 2 is a winner. Great writing, superb acting and so many intriguing scenes. I love the new intro, by the way. It's fantastic!

I hate cheesy writing

The dude went to the police with a body in his truck bed and they let him go? Come on The bid on the house was 1.6, the girl bid 3 million. Hence why men should be in charge of finances. This is so stupid. Who in their right mind over pays that much? I know, it's a show, but it's still dumb.

THIS is what the season premiere should've been

Warning: Spoilers
It was hard to understand the intention behind focussing the season's premiere episode on a whole new area and family but it makes more sense now. Anyhow, this episode gave everything I had been expecting to see in the first episode but was lacking. Unbelievably, it moved me even more than the Season 1 finale.

What it does best is in showing where the characters are after the previous events. Despite having a family again, Kevin is haunted by the guilt of what happened to Patti, unable to move on fully. It's this which probably drives him to get arrested virtually intentionally. He feels if he's responsible he should pay, which must be a pretty powerful urge if it drives him to do this despite the fact it could ruin the new life he has just built for himself with Nora and the baby.

The move to get out of Mapleton is probably because it carries too many bad memories for Kevin, least of all Patti. But moving to Miracle isn't enough; Patti is still with him. And as for whatever he has done in the middle of the night that maybe led to Evie's disappearance, oh dear indeed. The scene that got me the most was after they arrived at the new house and everything wasn't how it was supposed to be, after Kevin's rage, when he tells Nora he loves her. It's such a tender scene. You can feel Kevin slipping away and after all the way they've come to rebuilding their lives, the prospect of everything being ruined again is too horrible to think about. Please, show some mercy, writers!

The sight of Tom and Laurie is also really nice to see where they are. Tom is clearly not okay but Jill and Laurie's moment of recognition is sweet.

The town of Miracle itself seems promising from the outside, but if you dig beneath the surface there are some suspicious things about it that suggests everything is not as friendly as it first appears. Like the house they were renting burning down and there being so little sympathy because of that. And the new house, which is run-down and has dirty water running from the taps (surely an ominous sign?).

After a premiere that made me question whether this season would live up to the first, now I'm convinced it will.
