Dating in movies is always more fun than it is in real life. Oh to be young and carefree again! Looks like they had a lot of fun making this film.

A unique indie rom-com with a twist

A lighthearted, quirky comedy with likable characters and a talented lead actor. Embarrassing situations abound and he takes them all in stride as he plods through life trying to develop his app while temporarily living in a hostel and learnign to relate to girls. Austin TX provided an excellent backdrop for the film.

Weird Isn't Enough

Loose, improvisational, often unfocused movie that still surprisingly works because it's so damn amiable and supporting characters like the guy who rides around in a bike taxi cracking wise are pretty funny. It's nominally about a dorky loser from Lubbock who moves to hipster Austin to launch his icebreaker app, a way to break the ice with pretty girls, but keeps getting sidetracked into various awkward encounters. There were several scenes where Kevin's weird behavior seemed completely unmotivated and confusing. And it's never clear why not one but two drop dead gorgeous women are attracted to him. But if you're in the mood for loopy stoner cinema it's a pleasant way to pass the time. Best line of the movie: "We're embarrassing ourselves as we speak."

It's pretty goofy I'd say, shows a lot of the city.. Lead is cheeky but carries the movie along, it's like really a good movie for if you're in the mood for some silly jokes and laughing at and with the movie.I would suggest is for anyone trying to chill and have a good time. Takes your mind of the scary overwhelming movies and just jokes around, goes by really fast..

A story depicting all kind of situations we all have encountered at some point, and so relevant now because we live in a world where everything is operated with apps. Also, full of great natural performances, everyone should see this.

Loved this film! What a suprising indie gem. Had a charming Linklater vibe. Solid performances and witty dialog that didn't feel forced or like the screenwriter was trying to borrow from other studio films in this genre. Matt James has a future and look forward to seeing what else he has up his sleeve.

Ice Breaker manages to handle the rom-com genre much better than bigger film who fail to be relatable or realistic in terms of the internal consistency of their own characters or even the way normal people behave. It is very well made and you can see the filmmakers' passion come to live on the screen.

So this is my kind of film. It zips along with tight, snappy dialogue and solid characters. In particular the lead actor, Matthew James, does a great job of putting himself in many awkward situations in which he was genuinely hilarious to watch. This film is sweet and charming and I could not have enjoyed myself more. I highly recommend this one!

Ice Breaker Warms The Heart

In Ice Breaker, Willy McGee and Dalian Davis co-direct a delightful and charming romantic comedy in a space where "delightful" and "charming" too often give way to saccharine and sentimental.

Arguably, that's because the indie world often takes a few more chances than major studios by choosing rule-breaking over time-tested but derivative rehash. Thanks in no small part to great dialogue and the charm of male lead Matthew James in this App-Writer-Comes-To-Town journey, McGee and Davis have managed to craft a warm-hearted film which leverages the same social awkwardness and embarrassements we see major studios evoke without the resulting sense of uplift.

Clever and light on the heart, Ice Breaker is a good-time couples film with broad appeal, and suitable indeed for "Movie Night."

I'm a big fan of Romantic Comedies and I can say that Ice Break checks all the boxes: great storyline, good looking actors, funny lines... you will be entertained from beginning to the end. Two thumps up for me.

A romantic comedy that was unique cause it was told from cool a quirky guys point of view. One girl makes him feel very special and the other girl keeps him on edge. You will have to see the Decision he makes in the end. Very solid story with great acting and great production. Definitely recommend this one.

Fun rom-com with a charming lead

Ice Breaker is about a young man, Kevin, who decides to take a chance and heads to Austin with nothing but a couple suitcases and $16 in his pockets in order to pursue his dream of selling his app. Kevin ends up meeting a whole lot of the people who "keep Austin weird" along the way and winds up in a bit of a love triangle himself.

Ice Breaker is fun indie romantic comedy and Matthew James is quite charming in the lead role. James is very good at playing an awkward fish-out-of-water in so many scenes in the film. He excels at being both a bit dorky, yet still very likable and easy to root for. Ice Breaker is a refreshing light comedy that I think everyone can enjoy and it makes for a particularly good movie for couples to watch. I highly recommend Ice Breaker!
