Heartbreaking film about overcoming inner pain and moving forward

I found the film very moving and very beautiful.

The film beautifully displays the hardships of an adolescence in a broken family. The pain and blame that comes with divorce can be devastating. Throughout the movie the main character learns to cope with her trauma and grow as a person.

It was very sweet and very creative. The animation is beautiful and the movie overall has a fairy tale-like quality although the story is a slice of life anime genre.

The power of words and song ring through the movie.I enjoyed it very much.

(Although I wrote that this review contains spoilers I tried to keep them to the absolute minimum so that it doesn't give anything away).

Interesting story and animation is pretty good.

This story is here to put us back to earth, because it's not a love fantasy we all have in our heads.

Frankly, ending came out of nowhere, because the whole time story was leading us in the wrong direction.

I'm not a fan of the ending, but that doesn't make this movie bad.

Anime gave us a really nice lesson: It's not our fault for pointing out other's mistakes. Not everyone who cares about us loves us romantically.

Just because I've watched some animes that are better than this one, I'm giving this one a 8.

It's definitely worth watching.

If you're emotional then prepare tissues. :-)

First, to say,I wanted to give it a 10 star, but I am that kind of person who want an ending as the way I want it to be.So here I go,

The story started with some castle stuff, so I thought "wohhh, same old snow white or Cinderella or whatever story may be the base of it", but thank God, this movie didn't waste my two hour! :vAnd those who said this series as a same old teen drama,"Guys!seriously?"(However, it doesn't mean that you hated something so I can't love it, right?)



Dear June, I know it was hard to witness parent causing adultery in that age!Though you never knew what was going one.But I would like to take your father as the evil one.How dare was he to say something like that to his own daughter!(Let's not use any slang,okey?)....

And your mother, Her tears didn't affect me at all, she deserved it, never mind!

Here your world of silence was depicted as a dark world where you have unlimited words which were actually like knives! Trust me! I am like you in this sense! Whenever I open my mouth, here comes trouble! Well, I chose to be silent cause it was who I am!

Lastly, to say, I got a huge crush on Takumi.I thought he would be a real guy for you!But the end of the day, he rejected you!So, he is out my list now! However, I can't blame him for this, as emotions are weird stuffs! One sided love are always hurtful, I wonder.

Words are sometimes painful but keeping them inside are more hurtful.I know that.

a taste of spicy sweet twist

When I first saw the title, I have to admit that I had no expectations. Simply because I couldn't read Japanese. However, as a film- enthusiast I'm always the type who would want to venture and explore new films. At the moment, I don't have anything to compare this movie at all. It isn't because I haven't watched enough but rather because its the first kind of animation or story line that I've encountered to be told in such a way. I mean, despite the fairy-tale type introduction. The vibe of the story having a hint of psychological approach was there. Yet, it did not sound or feel grim at all. It felt realistic and true. While others may protest that there are no bad parents, I want to state that there really are. No one is perfect, and Parents are not an exception. There are people, heartless enough to blame there kids for their own faults.

As a fan of Makoto Shinkai films, I am pleased to find another film maker and storyteller to root for from this point onward.

I love the twist of the ending as well. If you don't pay attention of the story and feel like over running the movie with what you perceive you'd definitely miss out the biggest surprise of all. I say big because normally lead characters would often fall for each other. However, in this story. Both don't get their happy endings yet, there is that welcome resolve where you can root for them further. I'm rating this 9 because, I wish to see more. Then again, if I could be more true. It would be a perfect 10. Amazing use of classical music and play script.

Good slow pacing anime film

I really liked the film, even if it was slow paced. The Japanese voice actors had good singing voices such as Inori Minase as Jun. i loved when her character belted out a song at the best end of the film, it gave you such goosebumps and the fact her character came out of her shell to speak! I mean for a girl who had a selfish father and a selfish Prince egg who took her voice ( like Disney's Little Mermaid), she really fought both back in the end!

Also I can see from some of the other reviews here that they didn't like the couple matching (Takumi x Natsuki & Daiki x Jun). However it was actually a nice surprise in my personal opinion cause I didn't mind who was matched with whom! It's even a nice change like you hardly get to see a sweet girl who goes out with a delinquent in anime. I'm sure there's some but I'll just have to research more hehe!

Good movie, definitely watch if you don't mind it's slow pacing and of course if you wanna hear nice music too ^^

Initial part of this movie is very good but not satisfied with the ending

1st of all, I want to say why the parents are so lame in this movie and 2ndly the main male lead character, what's upto him bruh !? 1st the boy Takumi gives butterflies to the girl Naruse Jun, then suddenly he feels that his ex-girlfriend Nito is the only girl he loves, later when he finds out that Naruse Jun loves him still he want to listen his name in Jun's voice and compliment her that she has a really good voice then when she said she might hurt him with her words Takumi said hurt me still he want to listen her out, at last when Jun Naruse confess her love to him then again he said no he loves anyone else. Wow, I mean really wow, so why did you upto there to listen her out to all of her heart. Man!! This part really disappointed me, and at the very last end when tasaki confess his love to Naruse Jun she accepted it so easily , I mean are u really human sis!

I really like the story, and ofcourse the story is original. But I a little bit dissapointed with the ending. I hope Ju. Would be dating with the boy who helped her (I forgot the name). But yea... But at the end ofcourse I like this movie. It has a lot of deep moral and really relaxing movie. The music is also really beautiful I like it!

A quadrangular high school love story!

The first mistake we all make is to expect it to match with the type of films what Isao Takahata, Hayao Miyazaki, Mamoru Hosada and few others direct. I meant thematically; either sci-fi, fantasy or the drama with the teen or the tween characters in the lead. Because technically this was a wonderful animation, but I was not impressed with the story, otherwise as usual, my writing would have been very long with the film quotes and other discussions.

For the beautifully sketched characters like this, the film totally wasted an opportunity. Should have been a beautiful love story or a pure fantasy, but it was a bit of uninspiring school drama that I kind frequently lost interest while watching.

I remind who wanted to watch it that it was a simple story which was like some kind of a television episode. The fantasy parts were too small to notice and the love story was very boring to emotionally feel it. It might suit for those who're seeking matured contents in an anime fantasy-romance than a cute and quirky narration. My point is it is for adults than children.

Overall, it failed to reach my expectations, but the online film rating says many has liked it. So don't mind me if you're considering it, but my review causing confusion. Because you should not have to feel what I felt, everything I said in the review is from my personal viewpoint. So I believe your opinion might differ from mine.

Very bad ending

I was really enjoying the movie but the ending where the main lead is in love with his ex really ruined it for me. I feel he was really leading her on and I did not like this. The movie started as 8 or a 9 but the ending really left a sour taste in my mouth. And when he told her to speak from the heart to him to let everything out just to reject her. The female lead i really liked tho and she did not deserve that rejection after all the stuff she's been through with her family and her mom. The baseball character i also liked. Like he started off really aggressive. All in all the ending ruined the movie.

The anime was really good and I enjoyed every part of it until the twist, Naruse and Tazaki looks like a child and an adult whereas Nito looks more fitting for Tazaki,also Sakagami and Naruse did have a thing going on throughout the whole movie until Nito hinted that she still have feelings for Sakagami. It kinda ruined it for me because it also sets an example for the viewers that if you can't let go of your ex you can wait for them because they will eventually come back to you. Nito was jealous of the way Sakagami was treating Naruse even when they were friends so the whole thing doesn't sit right with me. Also the part where Naruse just disappeared after everyone worked so hard in the play to bring out her story to life was also so very confusing to me, especially because after getting rejected by Sakagami to the face, she walked out and completed the play like it wasn't a big deal, she could've done it without running away in the first place. Also they were taking through the play while singing and it was so confusing to me I didn't know if it was part of the play or if they're just talking. Mainly I hate the way they twisted Sakagami's and Naruse's relationship. Nito's character was so bland, she would get jealous and keep talking about an email she didn't get, it's like normalizing being petty and jealous to get what you want. They gave Sakagami and Naruse so much screen time together building a relationship just for Sakagami to change his mind in the end. Naruse looks like a complete child next to Tazaki even though they're in the same class also they didn't have any kind of chemistry throughout the movie, when sakagami rejected Naruse Tazaki just magically knew that and wanted to confess his love to Naruse out of the blue it was really weird. It's just my opinion maybe you'll feel different about it.

I'm very sorry for main character. Even this is Love Anime, sad main character become much horrible state at the end when she get rejected. How you can call this is a love anime even there is no love. I wish I can punch author's face for make my heart become so sad, give me back my time and emotion I waste. This is not romance anime, this is a sad drama anime without love. Its Horrible. I wish I can give zero for this anime. Such poor main character, why, why you make her so sad!!!!!!!!!!!
