Worth Watching
Christmas-Reviewer10 May 2017
BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE MOVIE. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA.

In this film The dysfunctional Montgomery family go to their cabin for Christmas where a blizzard traps them inside. When the Tucker family arrives needing shelter, they are welcomed inside and remind the Montgomery family how to love each other.

The performance in this are fine. The little girl is cute. There is some very nice scenes in this film but the film in general isn't that great but it is worth watching.

The message in this film is "Communication" and "Life is meant to be enjoyed" I like the general message of the film which makes me recommend "Slightly".

Family safe but small children will be bored.

Warning: Spoilers
The movie opens with a very dysfunctional family. The son deserves a good scolding for how he treats his sisters. The mom is refusing to be happy. And the dad is a workaholic who can't even bring himself to say something loving in the gratitude game. This family definitely needed intervention. And the husband needed the wife to put her foot down and say, "I'm fed up with your neglect." I realized the Tuckers may not be normal mortals when their dad told the kids that they should stay an additional day.

Nice to watch with the family

Only irritating part is the youngest girl. She must have been on helium before this film....the director should have took her aside and explained. I know she's in a lot of these films but she puts you off the film. The other actors play their parts well.

Has potential but just OK

Warning: Spoilers
The movie is your typical made-for-TV Christmas movie most of the way through - predictable plot and (for the most part) a feel-good movie. The kids are cute - the Montgomery parents are not very nice people. It is good seeing how well the two families get along despite being different in almost every way. The ending could hardly be more tragic - the fact that no one in the Montgomery family showed any emotional reaction is unrealistic.

Very emotional; Bad ending
marieeberlein116 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the movie before the end. It had me tearing up in parts. I absolutely ADORED the Tucker family and loved the jump-into-action help the Montgomery family provided them. Instead of making it an awkward encounter with strangers, the writers made them interact like decent, human beings trying to get to know one another. The writers made the Montgomery's and the Tucker's become close-bonding friends. I was rooting for the two families to exchange information and plan to be bestfriends forever.

And then there's the end:

There was no exchange of info. Zip. There was also this part where the Montgomery's donated some of their gifts by replacing the name tags on the gifts, only then to make it a rule to not open the gifts in front of the Tucker's? Then instead of the Montgomery's riding the Tucker's inside their cars, the Tucker's are walking off into the wilderness with no additional help or support? That is when the Montgomery's realize that they made a huge mistake, grabbed their snow gear and went looking for them (without a car again).

Last but not least, instead of two families making sure they never lose contact with each other, they discover the family got killed in their van accident during the storm, and were angels sent to help the Montgomery's through prayer. NOT the ending I was looking for AT ALL. This entire film was based on reality and non-fiction, only to turn into some mystic and magical world at the very last 10 minutes of the movie. It only they could edit already published films 😒

Potential
Jackbv12330 November 2018
The story had huge potential but the execution was terrible.

The major characters of the Montgomery family were overplayed. My major impression of Judith was hiding in the background, if not in her bedroom, whining. We could have gotten the point that Charles was feeling the pressure with half the phone calls and running out the door. Jaeda Lily Miller is way cute, but even she overplayed the cute a little.

Scenes with the blue screen were clumsy and obvious. A scene where the family is walking in snow shoes is also clumsy. Among other things, the whole family walks a straight line, then turns a right angle and walks toward the camera, all of this in a totally open and flat field of snow.

The message at the heart of the movie was a good one especially for the holiday season. There are touching moments as a result. There was nice twist at the end, but even that is executed clumsily. It was good that the movie provided foreshadowed clues for the twist. I'm not sure if they provided too many clues.

Love or Hate

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how I feel about this movie, it did leave me sobbing and blowing my nose into tissues at the ending (But I am very sensitive when it comes to movies so there is that too) but overall it was good. I agree with saying that some of the story lines and certain moments in the movie was predictable or at least made me wonder but for me personally I did not see the ending at all ( But I also was, still am sick with the flu and clicked on the first thing I saw without reading what it was about, so being sick could also contribute to my lack of judgment) I was left completely heartbroken, angry and so sad after I watched it, but the feelings has subsided and I can think of it rationally. Overall the movie was great, beautiful story line although a little of the top with some of the events that happened. I loved the The scenery, reminded me so much of the mountains here at home, and the acting was okay overall. My biggest disappointment after it was all done and the credits rolled through was the unanswered questions and the discrepancies in the movie that were left unanswered and unexplained. Other then that it was an okay soul-crushing movie so if you want to watch something cheerful and cheesy, funny and happy, I personally would steer clear of this movie. (It left me bawling my eyes out, but again I am sensitive and very sick with the Flu, but I myself would not want to watch it again. It was a little too long for my taste but it's not really a movie I would want to experiences again either)

This was a cute movie except for the little girl whose voice ruined the movie. Why she was the center of it I have no idea.

B Movie that acts like a B Movie
carlgustavhoivang2 January 2023
This movie is clearly a B movie. And it is as good as a B movie now is.

Judith comes across as unfair towards Charles. They're both to blame for their faulty marriage but Judith gives Charles all the blame. This makes her come across as a bit of an annoyance.

And then we have Emily. She serves as the narrator in a way and we see the movie from her perspective. I can not comprehend how it's possible to make a character that annoying. I really wish she wasn't the one narrating but eh it's okay if you're fine with loud attention-seeking kids.

Regardless of the sometimes annoying characters this story really had potential. And it's even fairly enjoyable. It would probably have been better if they did not absolutely over explain the ending as if this movie was intended for 2 year olds AND drop massive hints that reveals it pretty much right away. But still it's a rather cute family Christmas movie that is worth a watch... Maybe.

Where to begin?
irishrose-940288 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS**** Oh Dear...where to begin? The scenery was lovely and the cabin was a dream come true. The rest of the movie? It was an hour and a half of my life that I will never get back. It was so bad that I couldn't stop watching. I had the entire plot figured out in the first 10 minutes. There were a few things that were so bad they have just stuck in my mind like a goofy song you can't get out of your head. The Montgomery parents were the most selfish example of a Mother and Father that I have ever seen. We the viewers were supposed to dislike the Father and side with the Mother but I found myself doing the opposite! The Mother was the most self absorbed, spoiled example of womanhood you can imagine. She just says whatever whiny thing comes to mind with no concern for how it will be heard by her children.I actually felt sorry for the Dad. As for the Tuckers...yikes...Someone told the teenage son to lean in and look seriously intense during what was supposed to be heartfelt dialog. To me he looked like he was going to lose it and kill them all in their sleep! As far as the ending...the wrong family died. What struck me as weird was how The Montgomery's just accepted that the Tucker's were dead with no sorrow or real emotion...not a care was given. It was like..."Oh well...they are dead. But Hey! Didn't they give US a great Christmas?...la da de da" On the bright side, if you can watch this movie as a parody and laugh at the total absurdity of it you just might be able to make it through to the end.

The first time I saw it I didn't like it. So, I watched it again and so much of it makes a lot more sense! It is a good movie and shows how a dysfunctional family can change.

A Sweet Message That Wasn't Executed Well
maddierackard5 November 2018
The ending of this movie was obvious from the title. Throughout the movie, the acting was kind of cringy and the Montgomery family was concerning. The mother was very self-absorbed and there were some points during the movie were I actually felt bad for Joe, the father. Alexander and Jennifer were fine characters, but they had absolutely no storyline. The best character was definitely Judith. The message was really sweet, but poorly executed.

Oye what a disappointment
redskinrex25 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The premise could have been a good movie, but this is terribly directed and written. The female lead, Judith is a horrid character that I wanted to clobber the entire movie. I get that she's unhappy with her husband, but she spends the majority of the movie treating him with such hatred, and loathing - with every comment to him dripping with contempt that she's a truly despicable person. Then to believe that she suddenly changes her stripes and falls back in love with him in a matter of hours - what a bunch of garbage. What a shame - the story had potential, but ended up being a waste of time.

Nice Scenery
willie3334 November 2017
I don't know if it was the writers or the director that killed the storyline. The little girl was the only endearing character.

The Tucker's show up at the cabin in the woods wrapped in their personal blankets trying to stay warm and say it took them 2 hours to walk in the snow to reach the cabin. They followed the lights in the house to get there. Now when they go to leave, they don't have their blankets with them and the oh so loving reformed dad doesn't offer his new found saviors a freakin' ride to their car! It was a 2 hour walk! My take away from the movie is never be like the Montgomery family.

more family oriented than the typical romance one
deckcats-168-19943526 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
not sure what movie the previous reviewers were watching, but I sensed some bitterness from them in their reviews. I found it refreshing from the more predictable boy meets girl in a Christmasland and after clashing at first, fall in love. kiss kiss. mistletoe. merry Christmas. Although you can see what is coming (can't you in any feel-good made-for-TV movie?) this is reality. this is about a family on the verge of falling apart. It addresses REAL issues: a husband entangled in his stressful job, a wife hoping this get away will bring her family closer, a marriage on the brink of divorce, unresolved grief issues, teenagers glued to their e-devices (escaping), a younger sister seeing the stress and trying her darnedest to be a positive influence and keep her parents from getting a divorce (the people pleaser). she prays for a miracle. Enter a family that through example and love help this hurting family. If you are looking for a large cast of characters with tons of drama, this is not for you. If you are looking for romance and sex, this is not for you. If you ARE looking for reality based, maybe even from a hurting family yourself,if you are looking for a positive and uplifting message, then this is for you. I won't spoil the ending but after all it is Christmas, so there has to be one surprise.

The worst Christmas film I've seen. Has to be seen to be believed.
MattyGibbs29 November 2015
A family on the verge of a break up have their lives turned around when they take in another family for Christmas.

Unfortunately, I found this Christmas offering to be way too cheesy even for this genre. The writing is lazy, trite and predictable and the acting from all concerned leaves something to be desired. Rather than leave me with a warm glow this just made me feel intensely irritated.

The only plus points are the scenery at the very beginning and the cabin they stay in looks great. Apart from that there was nothing appealing about this film at all. I kept hoping it would improve but if anything it just got worse especially with the ridiculously over the top music at the moments of 'high drama'. Just when you think it can't get worse you have the most pathetic and dishonest endings I've ever seen.

There are hundreds of Christmas TV movies and every one of them is better than this garbage. Even for fans of the genre this one is going to be harder to swallow than a stale Turkey sandwich. Do yourself a favour and skip this one.

Yikes!
islandstace5 December 2016
I'm a die-hard, bleeding heart, gullible sucker for the entire season of Christmas movies. But this one? This one made me take the time to sign into IMDb (hardly ever do), in case "telling my story can save one other person from making the same mistake I did".

Do yourself a favor, and I dislike being so negative and mean spirited towards those who made this film, but give this one a pass. Even the Folgers Coffee shots in that insipid Mariah Carey Christmas movie can't hold a candle to this vapid production. So many obvious errors/goofs, so corny, so bad...

On a positive note, the actor who plays Joe is handsome and sexy.

I just find it the most ridiculous story ever
Avidvidwiewer30 December 2015
I really enjoy Christmas tales and even enjoy some of them when they get a bit gloopy but in my opinion through the entire movie I failed to be moved in any sympathetic way whatsoever towards the Montgomery parents (Kristy Swanson and Chris Potter) and thought that her character was blubby to say the least when she should have taken hold of the situation just as a mum for the sake of the kids and he came over as a guy that was selfish to the extreme and showed his children no emotion whatsoever. Then the Tucker family turned up at the door to the cottage with their entourage of kids and they were allowed entry as total strangers through the door with no questions asked as to who they were or what they were doing. It got better when pa Montgomery went out to the car in the middle of a raging storm and got hit by a tree. I thought he'd gone to the car to try and charge his cell phone but it turned out to be otherwise. I'm not going to put any spoilers in as seeing this movie is beyond belief to the extreme and you have to watch it for yourselves but I suspect that the ending was thrown in as an afterthought to cut it all off abruptly and stop any further money being spent on filming. I could go on for ages because I really enjoy movies of all genres but this was dross even for a TV Movie and bore no relationship to real life behaviour in my life experience

Great Movie on life lessons about family
lovettstough17 November 2018
I don't like Chris Potter as an actor in anything especially in one of my favorite shows, HEARTLAND. This here is a great movie though. Anybody who watches this movie should really pay attention to this movie. In this day and age the life lessons in this movie centered on family really needs to be focused on. Especially to the younger generations and children these days. People seem to have forgotten what family is all about and what it should be. I'm only 44 and I was born in 1974 so growing up in the late 70s and 80s and early 90s seems to be the last generation(s) that cared about what family is all about and how family should treat each other.

A Powerfully, Well-Done Christmas Family Drama
tabuno8 January 2019
19 November 2017. It's not often one comes across a made for television Christmas show that really hits home, but Angels in the Snow manages to do just that. The emotional turmoil is well portrayed in more subtle tones than the typical melodramatic distraught family. Chris Potter as the father and husband does a superb job of inwardly directing his portrayal as well as presenting an outward persona of both insolence and personal pain. Just one example is a brief shot of his expression of concerned anticipation waiting to see his wife's reaction when they reach the huge cabin he had built. There is seemingly as feeling of magic in this movie along with a valuable message of the importance of the Christmas spirit. The storyline is tight, the interactions between family members and strangers are full of meaning and even the critical dramatic highlights are believable and explained satisfactorily. Even coming in at a short 90 minutes, the movie seemed to extend itself comfortably much longer. A movie not to be missed.
