I Saw a Ghost!
bemyfriend-4018421 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I LOVED the first half hour of this movie! I really loved it. Joan is muscle for a mob. Apparently she has been successful; because she leads a team of three men. The three become two, when she kills one for annoying her. She is terrible in her job! It's not because she's nonaggressive; but rather, because she's too aggressive. And she's too proud. When the head boss visits her, to tell her she went too far; she doesn't ask for his guidance. She's given another task; a very easy one. She's supposed to warn her boyfriend to stop helping street kids off their drug addictions. Apparently another branch of her gang sells them drugs. She STILL can't quite do the task right. She doesn't know if she should hurt him, or just warn him. So she just opts to start a lovers' quarrel. At this point, the film is fully moving in a very engaging direction. What will happen next? Does she gain a conscience, from the boyfriend? Does she continue on her violent path, until a larger crisis occurs? No. For no real reason, her crew kills her; without their boss's knowledge. Now she becomes a vengeful ghost, who kills them. Duh. Wadda story, eh? A ghost. Wow. What could have been a compelling crime drama, turns into low-brow grindhouse slasher/splatter. I wish the movie-makers would have turned this into a traditional good vs. evil story, with her redemptive sacrifice, in the end. Instead, we get a ghost.

It's just business

Warning: Spoilers
Joan (Jamie Bernadette) is a paid assassin who likes Anthony (Teo Celigo ), neat whiskey, and three ways. We see her do a job where she ends up killing the guy who owes her boss Frank (David Carey Foster) and one of her own men who dropped the "C" word on her. Something I imagine most women would do if they could. Frank is not pleased. Joan is assigned a task and does not follow through. Her own henchmen kill her. Joan comes back to life with a dark power that allows her use a force against people and to travel through black dust holes.

Once back from the dead, Joan becomes a vigilante against her former boss dressed in slinky black with spike heeled boot. The dialogue was not great. The acting less than par. The special effects seemed like a joke. The explanation for the darkness didn't make it.

Guide: F-word. Sex. Nudity (Heather Noelle+)

Gut wrenchingly awful

This is by far the worst film of the year so far, and it will take some beating! Shockingly bad dialogue..delivered by equally shocking acting, it had me in stiches scene after gut wrenchingly awful scene. A must see for bad film afficianados..I wont go as far a The Room comparison, but my goodness..its pretty close!

Where to start....
trainman2695 April 2018
Im pretty tolerant of bad cinema. I prefer to be positive rather than negative. But THIS...was just awful. From the poor mans (and I do mean skint mans) Trinity of "the lead" character, to the total disinterest of her boss and goons, to the nightclub scene with no patrons....

I went into it with no preconceptions, I WANTED to like it, lets face it the synopsis covers every base going. Gang thug meets social worker and gains dark powers, man this HAS to rock. There HAD to be some good in there.. I lasted half an hour.

Avoid

Should've been called: Killing the Audience!

I cannot fathom or understand Jamie Bernadette! She has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt how capable an artist she is with the Furnace and the 4/20 Massacre. And then she goes and accepts a role in this diatribe. My theory that even the best of actors and actresses can be terrible when the get bad script and bad directors, has been proven time and time again. Bruce Willis, Nick Cage and John Cusack but to name a few who picked God awful scripts.

Jamie Bernadette hits a High note as a female Assassin!

Killing Joan is the new action/ revenge movie From Writer/ Director Todd Bartoo . Jamie Bernadette (Joan)plays a bad ass Strong arm for the mob. She starts getting to aggressive and calling all the shots. Anyone who pisses her off or poses a threat is disposed of. This gets her Boss Frank angry and he decides to have her killed. She becomes resurrected and gets her revenge on those who double-crossed her and left her for dead. This is a cross between Death Wish and the classic supernatural toned The Crow! Our main character at the beginning is a ruthless heartless killer. The only person she has ever loved makes her see her evil ways. He slowly get through to her and starts seeing there is more to life than killing and revenge. But is it to late. Jamie Bernadette over the last year has grown as an actress. She does not type cast herself and in every movie plays a strong female character that shows her range! David Corey Foster who plays Mob boss Frank was equally entertaining. He made the best of his screen time and created a memorable character. Todd Bartoo could of made a paint by number action revenge flick but he added the supernatural element that worked! He Gave a cool take of a very predictable genre with a very nice goosebumps ending! I also like how he directed Jamie and would love to see another feature pairing Jamie under Todd's direction.

Written and Directed by Todd Bartoo. With Jamie Bernadette , Teo Celigo, Erik Audé , Dion Bosco, Katarina Leigh Waters, Erin O 'Brien, Alexandra Lemus, Danny Mika, David Carey Foster. A special thanks to Clint Morris for providing me with all the promo items!
