The power of nostalgia

Warning: Spoilers
'C'est si bon' is based on true characters but not on the story. Characters are powerful, but how the director carries out the story is average even though the story itself is powerful.

Jo Young-nam's thick glass, Lee Jang-hee's mustache, Lee Hyung-joo's dandy and preppy outfit, Song Chang-sik's bang take the audience to 60s with them. They are all singers cherished and respected for 40 years, and it was so nostalgic to breath with them for a while.

'C'est si bon' is very general but also private. Characters are public figure, but also the audience has their own first love and memory of youth. Oh and Min's love story is so relatable that it takes me to not 1960s but to my 20s. Oh's jubilance, sacrifice, turmoil, and lack of 'skill of love'.. we all experience in our 20s. Then I see Oh in 40s all collected yet depressed, it hits me sad about growing old and losing all the innocence in 20s. The last scene when they meet all together and forgive each other in their 60s symbolizes wisdom and life experience at that age.

I looked back at my youth, agonized my present, and hoped for wise 60s after this movie. It is such an irony the movie with so public figures can bring me so personal introspection.
