Cult Cuts Volume 11
#2/4: Lieutenant Jangles (2018)
(8/10):Boy is this stupid but it's so awesome, silly and hilariously fun that I didn't even care.
I'm also not going to dive into the plot as it's best you find out for yourself, it's amazing, lol.
An Indie film hailing from Australia,Lieutenant Jangles is a parody of the old cop investigation films as well as a tribute to B-Movies in same way that Machete is,albeit with a much smaller budget but my point is that both are an example of how we are experiencing a reemergence of the old
B-Movies in our modern era of cinema;Once Again a B-Movie/Drive-In Renaissance.
It's a very immature and silly film that requires you take it for what it is, pure comedy and entertainment.
The swearing is abundant and there's two or three instances of a couple of guys pee fighting, yes you read that correctly, but that's how mature this is if you need an example.
The soundtrack is a standout with many collaborating artists, little to none that I've heard of,but they do an excellent job at emulating the B-Movie homage tonality of the film.
It's scored with some synth wave music and even some of the score is reminiscent of classic rock.
The action is over the top and exaggerated. There's explosions, big guns and also on a side note some great costumes and sets that get blown up during the destruction.
I also don't see many,if any people talk about this film, even in when niche B-Movies are mentioned, especially regarding recent films I just never see it talked about. That's a shame because while it's a silly B-Movie, it's clear that a lot of time and effort went into capturing the essence of drive-in cinema and its just a ton of fun.
I highly recommend this one for people who are just looking for an awesome, fun and action packed
B-Movie with lots of love put into it.
