Melissa Fumero (Amy) was in the late stages of her pregnancy at the time of filming. Amy and Jake's conversation ("Do I really look pregnant?"/"Uh, I GUESS I can see it") is poking fun at the sitcom trope of poorly employing obvious camera, prop, and wardrobe tricks to hide an actor's pregnancy. Over the past several episodes, Fumero has been shown in loose-fitting clothing, sitting at her desk behind piles of paperwork, standing behind chairs, holding files over her belly, and being masked behind large (and sometimes sparkly) set pieces or props.
