The organization that Holt submits a grant request for funds to improve the office is the M. C. Guffin Foundation. In film parlance, a "MacGuffin" is a plot device in the form of some goal, desired object, or another motivator that the protagonist pursues, often with little or no narrative explanation. Therefore, the M. C. Guffin Foundation is a literal MacGuffin.
