I for one am not gonna complain too much, the new girls obviously provide plenty of scope for further drama. The show does lack something without Elena (aw, no more Katherine!) but Nina wanted to leave, it was her choice. She did fantastic, but there are lots of jealous female eyes out there, getting envious when Elena was with their crushes... Enough said.
I do agree with that other reviewer who states here that the show has lost its cleverness. Back-track through my earlier reviews and you'll find that I continually lamented about the good old days of Season One not being there anymore. Moonstone, the cure, small objects, now yet another one? Corny! Doppelgangers, Silus, Lorenzo, Augustine vampire, what were we put through?
Real reason I watched...?
Candice Accola. King nowadays. Always was the princess. Credit Kat Graham before her? Gmph!
Candice fans are sure to appreciate the jaw-dropping outfits she wears in this episode. First, bare legs with high heels. If that's not traffic-stopping enough, wait till ya see those long pants towards the end!
Green eyes. Wow. Okay, feline and very dangerous, but amazingly awesome.
Okay, if I have to say something about the storyline: What utter shameless junk. All of a sudden Mystic Falls is a mining town? We never heard about that before. Where are the mine dumps? Mysterious fire caused by gas surfacing, huh? What about the vampire bites? There are so many holes in that story you could drive a ten-ton truck through it. With room to spare for another ten-ton truck.
Quick note. Not a spoiler, just guess work by Johnny-come-lately. One new girl, Mary Louise, noticed as I put up quote, she has no surname. Others have. Gonna be some major reveal, her true identity.
