I may be a bit biased with this animated short film that only came out a couple months ago as I have never been too big on Lego in terms of the toys or in terms of the style as animation in film. This is a 7-minute short film written and directed by Chris Choyce (his second effort as a filmmaker) and it is about a cancerous young boy and how his single dad and the people around him deal with this difficult situation. If you have lost somebody to cancer, it may have a bigger impact on than it did for me. Occasionally, I have to say, this may have worked much better as a live action movie. The constant grinning of the Lego characters is truly strange in the face of events here and sometimes it almost feels like from a weird horror film because of that. Anyway, looking away from the visual side, in terms of the story, this was a good effort by Choyce and this is also the main (and only, apart from the fitting soundtrack) reason I give it a thumbs-up.
