Whispered Secrets

So we are still in 1973 then? Richie goes to see Lester about releasing some of his old blues songs. Lester is still sore at Richie and still has a sore throat after the mobsters crushed his windpipe. He now works as handyman at an old people's home. Well would you believe it, there is a DJ playing hip hop at the turntable in 1973, the kind of hip hop played at the New York clubs in the late 70s (it might be Kool Herc who did do Hip Hop in 1973.)

The The Nasty Bits wow the crowd with their brand of English punk rock rather than a cover of The Kinks song. But hold on Punk took off in Britain in late 1976 and you needed The New York Dolls, The Ramones or The Stooges first as inspiration. Well at least this episode has Alice Cooper which one of Richie's A&R rep tries to court but he could be up to his neck in trouble.

Richie meanwhile is embarrassed at a record producers banquet over his aborted sale of his record company, he is also shaken up by dead body of Buck Rogers being found and of course the police now investigating his death. Honestly, this has really shaken Richie, he starts to talk like a guy from the 21st century than the 1970s.
