WWE Royal Rumble (2015)
DannMarshall26 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Below are quick results of this year's Royal Rumble PPV. While many fans are pretty upset (not including myself) of the winner, there was some good moments and exciting action. It seemed for a while that Bray Wyatt had the upper hand. There were a few surprise entrants this year including Bubba Ray Dudley. Also, The Rock made an appearance and The New Age Outlaws faced The Ascension in the opening contest. The Triple Threat for the World Championship was very exciting as well.

1. The Ascension b. The New Age Outlaws.

2. The Uso's b. Damien Mizdow and The Miz to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships.

3. The Bella Twins b. Paige and Natalya.

4. Brock Lesnar b. Seth Rollins and John Cena in a Triple Threat Match to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. (Best match of the night. Lesnar will hold the title until Wrestlemania. This match had a bit of everything and really delivered.)

5. Roman Reigns won the 30 man Royal Rumble Match. (Reigns will face Lesnar for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania. I thought this years Rumble was pretty good. Reigns was one of my picks to win (behind Bryan of course.) There were a few surprise entrants, Kane made history, Wyatt had a great showing, and there was a spot at the end in which could have given Rusev the victory.)

No royal in the rumble
paudieconnolly23 October 2020
A once great event starting to feel like a real feeder event for wrestlemania. Obviously every event should feed the next but it does not have to be at the cost of the current event. Sometimes I would feel the royal rumble was the event the year.

A Poorly Booked Rumble Match

Royal Rumble 2015 Thoughts

Royal Rumble 2015 was the 28th annual Royal Rumble PPV event produced by the WWE. It took place on January 25, 2015 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with an attendance of 17,164. The buy rate was at a way lower rate than the previous year. 145,000. This is mostly because of this being the first rumble PPV after the launch of the WWE Network.

We had 5 matches on set for the main card with the one of the most infamous Royal Rumble matches main eventing tonight. We'll get to it. Also on the card was a strong triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Brock Lesnar defending the belt against John Cena and Seth Rollins. Great buildup. Event was also remembered for being Daniel Bryan's first PPV return from his first hiatus as he was in the Royal Rumble which did not go well with the fans.

The Good - There is no doubt the triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship was one hell of a match. It felt intense and gave everyone goosebumps. John Cena doing 3 straight AAs on Brock Lesnar was one of the coolest moments in his career. That made Lesnar look like a strong star who's nearly invincible. Seth Rollins also putting everything he got to take down Lesnar deserves praise as well.

The Meh - The Tag Team Championship match was above average with a lot of the match centered at the comedy acts of Damien Mizdow who was so over at the time. I feel it would have been a better match if it was taken more seriously.

The Bad - Unfortunately the Royal Rumble was a poorly booked Rumble. It seem we might get a fun rumble but the interest clearly was dead after the infamous Elimination of Daniel Bryan. I feel the booking of that elimination was a stupid decision by the WWE. The problem wasn't Bryan needing to win but how he was out early and didn't look strong despite how over he is, was what hurt everyone. The crowd turned their backs on the entire match and who could blame them. Them also trying to get Roman Reigns to win over fans like that despite his lack of character change and interest was not working at all. It felt lazy to get the heels in the ring eliminate every star, who was way over than him (like Bryan, Ambrose, and Ziggler) just to make him look like a big hero at the end. The rest of the undercard matches also were forgettable.

Overall - The only saving grace was that triple threat match. I can't imagine how this whole show would have gone down if that match never happened but overall, this show was a thumbs down.

Score - 4 out of 10: Boring

0 = Terrible : 1 = Bad : 2 = Decent : 3 = Good : 4 = Awesome : 5 = One of the Best of all Time :

1. The New Age Outlaws vs. The Ascension - 1.5/5

5. 30-Man Royal Rumble Match - 1/5

Best Match - John Cena vs. Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar.
