Territory is one of the best new Netflix shows of October 2024! Since the series premiere on Oct. 24, the new Netflix original series has been one of the most popular shows of the month, too! Depending on where you live, Territory has been all over the Netflix Top 10 and is even the No. 1 show in many countries.
Created by Ben Davies and Timothy Lee, the neo-Western series stars Sam Corlett, Anna Torv, Michael Dorman, Robert Taylor, and more. Territory tells the story of the Lawson family who own the world's largest cattle company. In the Australian Bush, the Lawson family and their allies are under attack from all sides over the property.
We're still waiting for news about Territory season 2, but we're hopeful that it will happen on Netflix. Given the strong early viewership numbers, we should see a renewal in no time!

The run-up to Halloween is peak spooky season, and this week’s Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report proves that streaming audiences are flocking to scary fare. Yet despite an influx of horror flicks, thrillers, and serial killer content, none of it can scare “The Penguin” out of the top spot.
Collin Farrell’s turn as Gotham City’s bird-like crime boss has held the top spot for six consecutive weeks and shows no sign of stopping, with two more episodes to go in the Max/HBO series.
Now, let’s count the creepies. “Woman of the Hour,” in second place again this week, tells the how-can-this-be-real-life story of serial killer Rodney Alcala appearing as a contestant on “The Dating Game” in the 1970s. Newcomer “Don’t Move” is No. 4 this week, with 1.1 million households watching the Netflix horror movie in the first three days it was available.

Kevin Costner might have left "Yellowstone" behind following the end of season 5A, but his shadow will always loom large over the popular Paramount series. As John Dutton III, head of the Dutton ranch, Costner very much defined the show, helping propel its success and bringing his significant experience with Westerns along with him. Costner knows what makes a Western succeed or fail, with the actor telling People:
"I've always believed a good Western isn't always just rushing towards its gunfight. If you can create language and situations, and then you end up at a gunfight, I think it can be an amazing movie or TV show."
In other words, Costner likes some actual acting alongside his action when it comes to Westerns, and what better way to flesh out characters than with a five-season series that paints a vivid and complex picture of life on a Montana ranch.

Comcast president Mike Cavanaugh floated the possibility during the company’s third-quarter earnings call with analysts.
Quarterly earnings reports often make for somewhat dry reading, but they’re still must-haves for analysts because many times company executives use them to make big announcements. Comcast president Mike Cavanaugh did just that on Thursday, using his company’s conference call to discuss its third-quarter earnings as a platform to announce that it was considering spinning off popular cable channels like Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network into their own business, a move that could help Comcast focus more on scaling its streaming service Peacock.
Key Details: Cavanaugh said more specifics about the plan would be available once Comcast reached “firm conclusions. The executive also said Comcast was still on the lookout for potential streaming joint ventures or other partnerships. Other media firms like Wbd have been urged to separate their cable and streaming businesses by analysts.

The NBCUniversal streamer isn’t competing with Netflix and Prime Video in terms of subscribers, but it is slowly moving toward profitability.
All of a sudden it’s late October, and for many entertainment companies that means it’s time to start reporting third-quarter earnings. NBCUniversal revealed its quarterly earnings report for Peacock on Thursday, Oct. 31, and as part of the report informed analysts and observers that it had gained 3 million subscribers, taking its new total to 36 million after ending Q2 with 33.5 million customers.

Financially, Peacock had another encouraging quarter. Its revenue brought in during the quarter was $1.5 billion, a year-over-year increase of 82%. An increase in revenue is hardly surprising, considering Q3 was the first full quarter in which Peacock's new prices were in effect, and the streamer also had the benefit of hosting the Olympics and the starts of new NFL and college football seasons.

November already? Surely there must be some sort of law against this… but sure enough, the skeletons and pumpkins are being swapped out for colorful lights and fake snow ahead of the winter holidays. In TV land it’s time for winter (!) premieres and finales, and some welcome breaks for hungry viewers to catch up on everything they’ve missed.
The month brings a handful of exciting premieres, including “FX’s Say Nothing,” Hulu’s “Interior Chinatown,” Netflix’s “A Man on the Inside,” and “Dune Prophecy” on HBO. Eddie Redmayne, Billy Bob Thornton, and Colman Domingo come to the small screen with “The Day of the Jackal,” “Landman,” and “The Madness,” respectively, and viewers will finally get a taste of Prime Video’s televised take on “Cruel Intentions.”

Take a look at more footage from the action thriller TV series "Lioness", created by Taylor Sheridan ("Yellowstone") , based on a true story, starring Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana, following 'CIA' agents infiltrating terrorist organizations, now streaming on Paramount+:

Why Yellowstone Reigns as America’s Most-Watched Show (Photo Credit – Instagram)
When Yellowstone burst onto the Paramount Network scene in the summer of 2018, it was like a wild Mustang taking off. Critics weren’t exactly throwing confetti at first, but by Season 3, this Taylor Sheridan creation stampeded to the top, becoming America’s most-watched show. Its mix of grit, breathtaking Montana landscapes, and juicy family drama had everyone talking.
Taylor Sheridan, the mind behind hits like Sicario and Hell or High Water, knew how to capture raw human emotion. With Yellowstone and its prequels, 1883 and 1923, he hit that nostalgia sweet spot while keeping it fresh. Audiences couldn’t get enough of the Duttons battling family loyalty and land disputes—it was like a Shakespearean tragedy with cowboys and way more horses.
Montana served as more than just a backdrop; it became its own character. From the sweeping vistas of Paradise...

Four and a half seasons of the Taylor Sheridan series have followed the Dutton Family, led by patriarch Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, who oversees the largest cattle ranch in the modern-day United States. The Dutton family faces constant challenges from those at its borders — the growing Bozeman, Montana, the fictional Indian reservation of Broken Rock and America’s first national park.

Armie Hammer’s exile from the film industry appears to be over.
The actor — who hasn’t acted in more than three years following sexual assault allegations that arose in 2021 — has landed a key role in upcoming Western “Frontier Crucible.”
From “Bone Tomahawk” and “Dragged Across Concrete” producer Dallas Sonnier, the film comes from Sonnier’s Bonfire Legend banner and will be directed by Travis Mills (“The Pendragon Cycle”). Thomas Jane (“Boogie Nights”) also stars, alongside Myles Clohessy (“The Pendragon Cycle”), Eli Brown (“Run Hide Fight”), Eddie Spears (“Yellowstone”) and Zane Holtz (“Hunter Killer”), singer-songwriter Jonah Kagen and newcomer Mary Stickley.
“I’ve made a career out of smashing taboos, while always striving for great cinema,” Sonnier said in a statement. “This moment is the perfect mix of my two dedications. I cannot wait to work with Armie Hammer on this incredible western, a genre I adore.”

Despite Tulsa King‘s entertainment value, which has proven to be the next big thing for Paramount in the realm of television after Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, the show hasn’t been immune to writing mishaps. The shortcomings are more noticeable in the second season, especially with the narrative surrounding Jay Will’s Tyson.

Taylor Sheridan just never seems to miss, delivering some of the most epic projects of all time curated from his indisputable genius. Kevin Costner pops up a fair amount in the trailer for Yellowstone season 5 part 2. He just won’t be in the show itself.
Much of the story of Yellowstone over the last 18 months has concerned what’s not happening on screen as much as what’s on it. After the show screened the first half of season five, coming to an end in January 2023, there’s been a lot of waiting. Waiting for it to come back, and waiting to see if Kevin Costner would reprise the lead role of John Dutton.
Well, the show’s back from 10th November 2024, and as you probably know, it’s going to be Kevin Costner-less. Costner is pursuing his Horizon series of movies, amongst other projects, and for whatever reason, Yellowstone schedules didn’t line up.
Paramount thus has faced an interesting challenge here as to how to sell the programme now that its lead actor has gone.

Exclusive: Greg McLean, director of the Australian drama series Territory, which is currently sitting at No. 3 on Netflix’s list of its Top 10 TV Shows in the U.S. after premiering October 24, has signed with Range Media Partners for management.
Billed as the Aussie version of Yellowstone, the six-part series follows the generational clashes that threaten to tear the Lawson family apart when Marianne Station is left without a clear successor. Sensing this once-great dynasty is in decline, the outback’s most powerful factions — rival cattle barons, desert gangsters, Indigenous elders and billionaire miners — move in for the kill. With billions of dollars at stake, everyone wants a piece of the pie.

Liberals and conservatives overlap with some shows, but others have a clear partisan skew according to a new survey from Hub Research.
There’s no doubt that the United States is experiencing deep levels of political division. In an election year that’s hardly a surprise, but a new survey from Hub Research shows that the discord between political factions in the U.S. is spilling over into TV preferences as well. Its data shows that there are clear areas of alignment between liberals and conservatives when it comes to TV, but also stark differences in their TV and streaming preferences.
Key Details: Titles like “Friends,” “Saturday Night Live” and “NCIS” have broad appeal for audiences. Liberal viewers are more attracted to shows that discuss real-life issues or poke fun at politicians. Conservative audiences are more drawn to shows that offer strong relationships and characters.

Ever since 2018, Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone took the world by storm. Set against the rugged backdrop of Montana, the show centered around the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton, played by the 69-year-old star. The show blended elements of family drama, political intrigue, and the harsh realities of the American West, which brought it a huge fan following. However, the 4th season of the series ran into a few problems.

The oil business affects everything in the wild West Texas town of Landman, and Billy Bob Thornton is a key cog in that machine.
The second trailer for the next Taylor Sheridan series, this time about the oil business, focuses on Thornton’s Tommy Norris, a crisis manager in the oil industry, and peels back more of the relationships between the star-studded ensemble that includes Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore and Ali Larter.
“Men die, oil companies don’t,” says Tommy (Thornton) in the high-octane trailer (below), as he describes himself as “a divorced alcoholic with $500 thousand in debt” and pulls his son (Jacob Lofland) into the business.
Hamm stars in a recurring guest role as Monty Miller, a Texas oil industry titan with a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy; Moore plays Cami, the wife of another powerful oil man in Texas and friend of Norris; and Larter plays Norris’ ex-wife.

Dave Annable on Making High-Stakes Sacrifices in ‘Lioness’ and His Ride as a Dutton on ‘Yellowstone’
Dave Annable understands the concept well that through some of life’s horrific tragedies come born-again moments that create the strongest bonds between family and friends. This theory has proven true in both his real life and in his Hollywood acting career.
One real-life scenario that tested this theory for Annable happened on Sept. 11, 2001.
“I was there in New York, I was in the city, and I mean…the craziest,” Annable recalls about 9/11. “I went down to volunteer and ended up staying until 2 or 3 a.m., and then obviously they couldn’t use us because there was nothing for us to do, for any volunteers. I didn’t know anybody in Manhattan who I could stay with; none of the phones were working. This one girl I met, we were going to go on our first date that night. So, I ended up walking up to Fordham [in the Bronx], like 60 or 70 blocks.

"Yellowstone" might be a massively popular series full of dramatic deaths and sordid family in-fighting, but it turns out it's also pretty realistic, too. "Yellowstone" is actually surprisingly accurate in many aspects, mostly due to series creator Taylor Sheridan's commitment to writing what he knows and keeping certain elements of his neo-Western as believable as possible. The more soapy aspects of the show — which led Hollywood Legend Sam Elliot to trash "Yellowstone" — might not represent a dogged commitment to realism, but when it comes to cowboy stuff, Texas-raised Sheridan ensures his show rings true.
The show creator revealed his philosophy on writing the series in a promotional clip, saying, "I believe that if I make something look real, it will be dramatic because life is dramatic." That apparently extends to casting himself in the series as horse trainer and certified cowboy Travis Wheatley. The Texas horseman and rodeo competitor shows up throughout "Yellowstone,...

The Lioness program will be scrutinized like never before when Season 2 of the Zoe Saldaña-led spy thriller unspools on Paramount+ this Sunday, beginning with the first two episodes.

The "Yellowstone" phenomenon is quite fascinating. While studios and networks floundered attempting to recreate the lightning-in-a-bottle-success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2010s, Taylor Sheridan went off and launched his own interconnected media universe like it was no big deal. Having already released multiple spin-offs with even more on the way after its parent series (maybe) wraps up with "Yellowstone" season 5, part 2, the greater saga of the Dutton family has proven to be a viewership bonanza on the level with the various Western series that dominated the TV landscape back in the 1960s and '70s.
For as much as "Yellowstone" has thrived at getting people to watch it, though, it's never exactly been a critical darling. Some of the show's fans blame that on the neo-Western's perceived politics, which, like those for Sheridan-scripted films such as "Sicario" and "Hell or High Water," are more complicated than you might assume.

Taylor Sheridan brought a whole new world out in the open with his neo-western drama Yellowstone. The show featuring the fictional Dutton family quickly gained popularity when it premiered in 2018. And with the upcoming Season 5 Part 2, the show is all set to create magic on the screen for one last time.
With the anticipation soaring high, the fact that actor Kevin Costner is no longer part of the Yellowstone universe has been a point of heartbreak for the fans. He played the patriarch John Dutton in the show and was part of the drama series since 2018. However, due to several scheduling conflicts and behind-the-scenes drama, the actor left the project after filming the first part of the fifth season.

In Paul King's "Paddington 2," High Grant played an egocentric actor named Phoenix Buchanan, a greedy villain given to flights of narcissism. Given what Jon Stewart has said about Grant, it might not have been a stretch for him to play such a character. Grant had a bad reputation and has taken to task by the press several times in the past for losing his temper on set. Most recently, Grant was reported to have yelled very harshly at a woman on the set of "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves." He assumed that the woman was a visiting executive and he was infuriated by her demands. As it turns out, the woman was an on-set chaperone for one of the film's child actors, and certainly didn't deserve a dressing down.
Grant was conciliatory afterward, however. He admitted immediately to "groveling," asking for forgiveness.
Back in 2012, however, Grant already recognized this about himself.
