- Dr. Robert Ford: What is your itinerary?
- Peter Abernathy: To meet my maker.
- Dr. Robert Ford: Ah. Well. You're in luck. And what do you want to say to your maker?
- Peter Abernathy: By most mechanical and dirty hand
- [laughs]
- Peter Abernathy: . I shall have such revenges on you... both. The things I will do, what they are, yet I know not. But they will be the terrors of the earth. You don't know where you are, do you? You're in a prison of your own sins.
- Dolores Abernathy: "Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world. The disarray. I Choose to see the beauty."
- Peter Abernathy: I have a question... you're not supposed to ask.
- Peter Abernathy: I want an answer... I'm not supposed to want.
- Peter Abernathy: Don't you see? Hell is empty. All the devils are here.
- Bernard Lowe: The hosts can't hurt you by design.
- Ashley Stubbs: You don't have kids at home, do you, Bernard?
- Bernard Lowe: No.
- Ashley Stubbs: If you did, you'd know that they all rebel eventually.
- Bernard Lowe: Last question Dolores. What if I told you that you were wrong? That there are no chance encounters? That you and everyone you know were built to gratify the desires of the people who pay to visit your world? The people you call the newcomers
- Bernard Lowe: What if I told you that you can't hurt the newcomers? And that they can do anything they want to you?
- Bernard Lowe: Would the things I told you change the way you think about the newcomers Dolores?
- Dolores Abernathy: No, of course not. We all love the newcomers. Every new person I meet reminds me how lucky I am to be alive, and how beautiful this world can be
- Stubbs: Have you ever lied to us?
- Dolores Abernathy: No.
- Stubbs: Last question, Dolores. Would you ever hurt a living thing?
- Dolores Abernathy: No. Of course not.
- Dr. Robert Ford: Evolution forged the entirety of sentient life on this planet using only one tool: the mistake.
- Dolores Abernathy: Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world, the disarray. I choose to see the beauty. To believe there is an order to our days. A purpose.
- Maeve Millay: All the banks and trains around here and you fucking reprobates choose to rob us?
- Hector Escaton: Why not? You're all here indulging your particular vices. And so I've come to indulge mine.
- [Offline hostess, a hooker, touches her lip]
- Bernard Lowe: Did you see it?
- Elsie King: No.
- Bernard Lowe: Give it a second. She'll do it again.
- [the hostess touches her lip again]
- Bernard Lowe: Her finger. That's not standard. I noticed it last night. Went looking in the update. It's a whole new class of gestures.
- Elsie King: But if we didn't put it there, then who did?
- Bernard Lowe: Ford. He still reviews every update before we issue them. He must have slipped it in there without telling anyone. He calls them "Reveries". The old gestures were just generic movements. These are tied to specific memories.
- Elsie King: How?
- Bernard Lowe: The memories are purged at the end of every narrative loop. But they're still in there, waiting to be overwritten. He found a way to access them, like a subconscious.
- Elsie King: A hooker with hidden depths? Every man's dream.
- Bernard Lowe: It's the tiny things that make them seem real, that make the guests fall in love with them.
- [last lines]
- Stubbs: You know why she's special? She's been repaired so many times she's practically brand-new. Don't let that fool you. She's the oldest host in the park.
- Stubbs: [to Dolores] Come on, sweetheart. Tell us what you think of your world.
- Dolores Abernathy: [smiles, speaks in Western accent] This world?
- [In bed, birds chirping, Dolores wakes up. She walks down the stairs with her easel folded]
- Dolores Abernathy: [V.O] Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world. The disarray.
- Dolores Abernathy: Morning, Daddy. You sleep well?
- Bartender: [as Peter Abernathy] Oh, well enough. You headin' out to do some more of that paintin' of yours?
- Dolores Abernathy: [V.O] I choose to see the beauty.
- [Bernard escorts Peter Abernathy and Walter into cold storage with the response team on guard duty. Bernard touches Peter on the shoulder, stopping him, and whispers something unheard. Peter, his face expressing sorrow, continues to walk on into the throngs of pale, naked host, joining its motionless forest of the standing dead. Elsewhere, Teddy Flood is yet again riding into town on the train with guests, unconsciously grasping his chest where he was shot in his previous iteration]
- Dolores Abernathy: [V.O] To believe there is an order to our days, a purpose.
- [the Man in Black looks at a maze-like pattern on the inside of the scalp of host Kissy he has taken. There is a human-like stick figure in its center. He rides off slowly with it. Back at the farm, a lone fly buzzes around Dolores, landing on her neck]
- Dolores Abernathy: [in the facility, aloud] I know things will work out the way they're meant to.
- [On the farm, Dolores reflexively swats the fly dead]
- Hector Escaton: Problem with the righteous: they can't shoot for shit.
- Armistice: Making a helluva racket though.
- The Man In Black: I never understood why they paired some of you off.
- The Man In Black: Seems cruel.
- The Man In Black: And then I realized, winning doesn't mean anything unless someone else loses.
- The Man In Black: Which means, you're here to be the loser.
- The Man In Black: Let me help you, son.
- The Man In Black: Seems you're not the man you thought you were.
- Theresa Cullen: This building isn't in any survey of the park.
- Bernard Lowe: That's because we use hosts to do most of the surveys. They're programmed to ignore this place. They literally couldn't see it if they were staring right at it.
- Theresa Cullen: And these unregistered hosts you told me about?
- Bernard Lowe: I don't know. He may have moved them.
- Theresa Cullen: What's behind this door?
- Bernard Lowe: What door?
- Peter Abernathy: I had a question, a question you're not supposed to ask, which gave me an answer you're not supposed to know
- The Man In Black: Winning doesn't mean anything unless someone else loses, which means you're here to be the loser
- [first lines]
- [dark room, all lines voice-over]
- Bernard Lowe: Bring her back online.
- [a ring of light appears, scarcely illuminating a blond female form. More lights turn on behind, straight segments surrounding areas containing more halo-like lights]
- Bernard Lowe: Can you hear me?
- [the light over the female brightens. Though still draped in shadow, she is unmistakably nude]
- Dolores Abernathy: [In Western accent] Yes. I'm sorry. I'm... not feelin' quite myself.
- Bernard Lowe: You can lose the accent. Do you know where you are?
- [Dolores is in close-up as lights come up brighter. She is motionless, two dried spatters of blood on her cheek. A lone fly alights on her temple. The image slowly moves in]
- Dolores Abernathy: [in standard accent] I'm in a dream.
- Bernard Lowe: Would you like to wake up from this dream?
- Dolores Abernathy: Yes. I'm terrified.
- [the fly crosses her forehead to her nose, to between her eyes]
- Bernard Lowe: There's nothing to be afraid of, Dolores, if you answer my questions correctly. Understand?
- [the fly moves to the inside corner of her eye and pauses]
- Dolores Abernathy: Yes.
- Bernard Lowe: Good.
- [the fly moves to stand on the pupil of her eye and cleans its wings]
- Bernard Lowe: First: have you ever questioned the nature of your reality?
- [With a buzz, the fly departs. Dolores has not reacted in the slightest. Jump to her asleep in her bed, birds chirping]
- Dolores Abernathy: No.
- [Her eyes open]
- Bernard Lowe: Tell us what you think of your world.
- Dolores Abernathy: [In Western accent] Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world. The disarray. I choose to see the beauty... To believe there is an order to our days, a purpose.
- Dr. Robert Ford: we've managed to slip evolution's leash now, haven't we? We can cure any disease, keep even the weakest of us alive, and, you know, one fine day perhaps we shall even resurrect the dead. Call forth Lazarus from his cave. Do you know what that means? It means that we're done. That this is as good as we're going to get. It also means that you must indulge me the occasional mistake.
- Dolores Abernathy: Daddy! Daddy!
- [Sobbing]
- Dolores Abernathy: Daddy! No!
- [Dolores crying over her father's body while the man in black approaches in silent]
- The Man In Black: Hello again. Your daddy gave it up quickly. Think he's losing his touch.
- Dolores Abernathy: You'll be following right behind him, you son of a bitch.
- The Man In Black: Is that any way to treat an old friend? I've been coming here for 30 years, but you still don't remember me, do you? After all we've been through. They gave you a little more pluck, Dolores. Absolutely charming.
- Dr. Robert Ford: So our creatures have been misbehaving, and you haven't yet isolated the bug. That's so unlike you Bernard
- Peter Abernathy: I have to warn her.
- Dr. Robert Ford: Warn who?
- Peter Abernathy: Dolores! The things they do to her. The things You do to her!
- Hooker: You're new... I'll give you a discount
- Teddy Flood: No offense but I'd rather earn a woman's affection than pay for it.
- Hooker: You're always paying for it darling. The difference is our costs are fixed and posted right there on the door.
- Dr. Robert Ford: What is your itinerary?
- Peter Abernathy: To meet my maker.
- Dr. Robert Ford: Uh-huh. Well, you're in luck. And what do you want to say to your maker?
- Peter Abernathy: By most mechanical and dirty hand... I shall have such revenges on you... Both. The things i will do. What they are, yet i know not, but they will be the terrors of the earth. You don't know where you are, do you? You're in a prison of your own sins.
- The Man In Black: I never understood why they paired some of you off. Seems cruel. And then I realized, winning doesn't mean anything unless someone else loses. Which means, you're here to be the loser. Let me help you, son. Seems you're not the man you thought you were.
- Dolores Abernathy: [carrying her folded easel] Morning, Daddy. You sleep well?
- Peter Abernathy: Well enough. You headed out to set down some of this natural splendor?
- Dolores Abernathy: Thought I might.
