Bad script Good effects
shalona7418 January 2022
Speaking for myself I know for a fact spirits of some kind exist from tons of experiences and I have The most clear ,detailed picture proof of it as well.

That said... I just can't believe this since the script just has too many flaws, I don't even have to name them, if you've seen it you'll know. Amazing effects though, that actually scared me pretty good. So I'll give it an A for effort and a 5 for a somewhat decent horror movie.

Interesting but I'm sure it's fake.

Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to believe this was true, but what made me sceptical was how everything in the pantry on the shelves always remained in the same position every night of filming. Then when the guest came to witness the filming the pantry was empty! Then after the guest left and he filmed again after he put the lock on the door, everything was back on the shelves exactly in the same place as they were before it was emptied. Lost me after that. Pretty neat camera tricks but this is what makes it so hard to believe when it's so easy to manipulate a scene.

Just a movie after all
killercharm24 May 2020
Wonderful scary. A man finds a ghost in his pantry by filming the door opening by itself every night. In his quest to understand he tries all kinds of things like locking the door closed and taking the door off. That last one was a big mistake.

Almost..

I am a believer in the paranormal and watch as many documentaries as I can on the subject. Through the first 10-15 mins or so I was a skeptical believer. When the children and the older woman become involved the acting falls apart. There's also timing discrepancies during the visiting John video.

Sigh
cordeliagrimm13 May 2020
I wanted so badly for this to be genuine. The first 15-20 minutes were convincing and then the daughter started reading her script and the illusion shattered. Once I got to the hide and seek video it was pretty obvious everything was staged. Disappointing, but the ghost effects were neat.

So dumb and unbelievable...
MissLeopard835 September 2019
Before watching this "documentary," I had seen the ghost videos on YouTube. I thought there was something fishy about the whole thing because the guy recording never provides any back story or has any paranormal investigators come to his house. He never even researches who this 'Mabel' is. Then I saw this movie. I knew immediately it had to be fake. The daughter is so phony and the mother first says that John is her "ex-husband" and then calls him her "husband" throughout the rest of the movie. John has his face blurred out because he doesn't want anyone breaking into his house, even though he doesn't live there anymore, according to the videos. I feel like I wasted 40 minutes of my life after it was over. So stupid.

Real...
cruzgarcia-3703223 May 2023
All the people commented below, obviously never experienced anything!

First of all. To the guy who commented.

Its her x husband now, but when they filmed the real videos, they were still married. Reason why she says my husband. When children are followed by a demon, they will ask to play childlike games. They know children are innocent and Demons want to get tru them to destroy them and their descendents and so they will never be saved and go to heaven, this is their mission to destroy us. This is a real DEMON, it is imitating a child who lived there long ago and was probably locked in there when punished. That child must have suffered alot, and this Demon probably caused the pain in her family long ago to act like this and treat her like trash.

The simple only answer they needed is JESUS. THEY FEAR IT. THE DEMON WOULD HAVE LEFT THAT PLACE VERY FAST!

The videos are very real. Demons appear in many different forms. This video was very frightening and that family had a very powerful DEMON in the house.

In the end. IF YOU NEVER WITNESSED ANYTHING, DONT COMMENT. I DID AND YES THEY IMITATE LOVED ONES, WHICH IS A BAD SIGN. IT MEANS THEY DIDNT GO TO HEAVEN.

WHEN THE PERSON RECIEVES JESUS IT NEVER HAPPENS. IF THIS EVER HAPPENS, GET REAL CHRISTIAN HELP, NOT CATHOLIC HELP. THEY DONT KNOW NOTHING. BELIEVE IN THE LORD AND TELL THEM IN THE NAME OF JESUS, GET OUT!

All the dialogue of the daughter is clearly scripted. Nothing natural about it.

Why do movies like these keep calling themselves documentaries?
balscalatoosa23 May 2022
We get it by now. The Blaire Witch was not real. You don't have to keep trying to actually make us believe this are real.

And my heavens, if you have the gall to try and tell people this thing is real...get some better actors and and better direction.

When the time stamp changes a few seconds ahead and behind during the ghost "proof", you know something fishy is up.

TOTALLY FAKE!
mhoover-4364028 August 2022
First the acting is HORRIBLE, & stories don't match up. Then every image of this "Mable" are blurry and kinda look like the so called medium that was his teacher. Also who invites a random stranger from fb into your home to witness this? And did anyone notice how the little girls room didn't have a single toy, picture, shoes, ANYTHING that would say a little girl sleeps here? Here bed is HUGE for her size, & I coulda sworn the closet he opened during hide & seek was hers but it contained just a few pieces of adult clothing. Then there's the pantry itself & I've never seen such a bare one. Abcdefghijklmnop.

Time discrepancy
ashleemaree-150665 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There has got to be some faking to this, during the john visit, the first sighting of the hands occurs at 12:34:13 then the face appears at 12:34:30 then all of a sudden the time stamp jumps back to 12:33:54 and then the door opens at 12:33:58, they show the inside at 12:34:16 so there is definitely something up with this documentary.

Warning: Spoilers
They had me a bit up until the daughter came into play & then it was all downhill. What kind of kid her age isn't screaming bloody murder the second she hears a voice talking to her! And what kind of father lets her continue to be alone in that room or alone anywhere in the house for that matter. Not to mention it seemed like she was reading her lines off cue cards. Then it gets laughable with the old lady psychic...nuf said there. The 3 stars are for the visual effects that were pretty cool. I think there was a trap or 2nd door in the pantry. It could have been the daughter doing double duty. And another big giveaway when I saw the scene for the 2nd time in the credits is when the father is filming footage when people are over during the day and as he swings the camera by the pantry you catch a glimpse of someone behind the door & on cue the boy sitting there immediately gets up & opens it to reveal nothing there. In hindsight that's overkill. Oh and lastly how about no update at the end of this "documentary" Credits roll & that's it. If your trying to put this off as real you gotta have a paragraph at least about where they moved & how the daughters doing etc...something, anything! Just glad all I had to invest was 43 minutes..

Some good stuff. Some not so good stuff.
nolan-2085329 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When they play hide and seek it is clear the sheet has been smoothed very neat around the daughter, indicating the scene has been staged. At the same time the it really looks like as if the daughter is acting. This also seems to be the case when she, years later, is interviewed.

The friends reaction when the ghost appeared did seem rather odd too.

And there doesn't really seem to be an end to the story.

It could be true, but it just didn't seem like that at all.

I saw this movie twice and it gave me the chills. Several you tubers debunked this so called ghost. I'm disappointed that it wasn't real. Ghosts are in fact real, however, this movie isn't. I hope this family received a big pay day for their trickery.

Hackneyed, silly, forgettable
Armin_Nikkhah_Shirazi27 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
THE PANTRY GHOST is a mockumentary or fake documentary about a ghost that mysteriously opens a pantry door each night at 12:34 am. Once the homeowner removes the door, it begins contacting his daughter. Then, the family is told by a psychic that this ghost represents "bad energy" and moves out.

That's it, this is the whole "story"!

I have to say, putting the ghost in the pantry strikes me as extra-silly. Also, no reason is given why removing the door provides access to the rest of the house, when the ghost had no problem opening the door even when locked. Even ghost stories need a modicum of logic!

There is some padding about the homeowner having OCD, but it does not tie in any way to the story. There is that also that tired cliché of a ball ominously dropping down the stairs, and the girl is clearly reading her lines.

If you are looking for a good ghost story, this ain't it.

Yawn
WereWolf17764 September 2023
The only thing paranormal in this movie is the actors' talent. This was the most ridiculous "ghost" movie I have ever had the displeasure of watching. Out of the numerous questions this movie presents the most glaring one I have is; if "John" doesn't want us to know his face or voice, then why are we permitted to hear him speak without the voice distortion when he is speaking on the "home videos". This is obviously a terrible student film made by amateurs who don't know how to write a plot that includes a cause for an individual's action, this being the ghost's reasons for it's haunting, and why the ghost has chosen the pantry for it's nightly haunts. DO NOT waste you time on this ridiculous amateur horror film as there is absolutely nothing scary about this movie. I have had more scares from cartoons than this movie provides.

Totally fake
amandajeanstone19 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Who in their right mind would put their hands up against a ghostly presence? Also, why would taking the door off the pantry release the ghost when it opened the door every night at 12:34 (roughly, give or take a few seconds) and could just come out on its own? Also, 12:34... Yeah right; 1,2,3,4. Soooo original it hurts. There are so many inconsistencies and the attic shot is set up. The camera pans back to where he wants you to look and waits, how did he know he was going to see anything at that location exactly? Suddenly, there it is. When he claims to have seen his daughter behind the dresser, it looked like his own shadow to me. Seeing the ghost huddled in the corner looked like a shot out of The Ring. Actually his ghost was similar too. Also, had most people seen anything close to the image in the pantry door, I think they'd leave right away. I know I would.
