- The Pandavs return to Hastinapur. Determined to establish peace between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, Bheeshma suggests giving half the Kingdom to Yudhishthir.
- Bhishma goes to Ganga for direction as he knows the kingdom is headed towards partition. He knows that Dhritarashtra will force him to do this injustice. He knows one Kingdom cannot have 2 yuvraj. Ganga calls him a coward (for not being able to live through the consequences of his own promises and vows). Bhishma promises her not to go to her again, ever. He says now Ganga will have to come to meet him.
Bhishma talks to Duryodhan and promises him that his rights will not be trampled upon. But he wants Duryodhan to have the correct definition of his rights. Duryodhan says that Bhishma was witness to Duryodhan becoming the yuvraj of Hastinapur. He also says Dhritarashtra always told him from childhood that Duryodhan will be the King of Hastinapur. Bhishma says that in the dynasty of Bharat, being eldest is not a right to the throne, one has to be capable as well. Duryodhan promises Bhishma that he will honor any decision taken by Bhishma. Bhishma promises that whatever he decides will be in the best interests of Hastinapur.
The Pandavas and Draupadi return to Hastinapur. Bhishma, Drona, and Kripa were at the gate along with Dushasan to welcome them. Duryodhan skips says that he is busy. Draupadi and Kunti enter first, followed by Krishna and Balram and then lastly followed by the Pandavas. Bhishma hugs Arjun when he enters the palace. Dhritarashtra conceals his disappointment and orders everyone to welcome them. Krishna and Balram also meet Dhritarashtra for the first time. Kunti introduces them as sons of her brother Vasudev. Krishna tells Arjun about his sister Subhadra, whom he loves very much. Balram insists that decisions regarding Subhadra's life will be taken by him alone, as he is the elder brother. Krishna also says to Arjun and Balram that he is anticipating a partition of the Kingdom.
Dhritarashtra calls for a meeting of his council to decide what to do about the situation between Duryodhan and Yudhishthir. Shakuni notes that Duryodhan was made Yuvraj with consensus by the same council and Duryodhan never begged for the post. Vidur says that he wants present in the council that day, and if was there, he would not have acted so hastily. Vidur argues that Duryodhan is not fit to be Yuvraj. Kripa says removing any one of Duryodhan or Yudhishthir from the post of Yuvraj would be an injustice to either. Shakuni doesn't allow Drona to speak, as he knows Drona will favor Arjun. Everyone decides to let Bhishma take the decision. Determined to establish peace between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, Bhishma suggests giving half the Kingdom to Yudhishthir. He also admonishes Vidur for hiding the fact that the Pandavas were alive, due to which this decision was taken to appoint Duryodhan as yuvraj and now that decision cannot be undone. Dhritarashtra agrees to this suggestion.
Dhritarashtra calls Yudhishthir for a private meeting and asks him agree to partition and take Khandhavprastha as his share. Krishna and Balram, also give their consent and it is decided that Yudhisthira's coronation as King of Khandavprastha be held in Hastinapur.
