Excellent film...

The acting is outstanding esp. Rylance as Thomas Cromwell. Lewis is very good as King Henry VIII and it should be noted he would be a great fit for the next James Bond.

This episode deals with Anne Boelyn closing the deal - securing Henry's love, being crowned and awaiting the birth of an heir to the throne - a boy hopefully but we know otherwise.

The parallel plot is the imploding full control Roman Catholcism had on Britain. Dissenters are becoming more bold in their 'sola scripturis' position even interrupting a mass conducted in Latin, with a layman reading, in English, from John 1:1...

The role reversal of both Thomas Cromwell and Thomas More - the former is now in ascendancy while the latter is under house arrest.

The sole complaint I have with the series is the choice of Anton Lesser as More. Even for allowing my mind to be clouded with the brilliant performance by Paul Schofield in 1966, Lesser is a misfit. He does not exhibit the type of true humility and strength of character it would take to say and do what More did - he maybe a good actor but here he looks more like a smarmy wisea$$.

The balance between loyalty and desire of power. Admirable job of Mark Rylance, inspired option for Damian Lewis in the skin of Henry VIII and a great construction of atmosphere , giving , more than good illustration of historical events, a very useful parable about options, meanings of dreams and plans to solve delicate situations, young women looking for love or power, , death of a protector and the cruelty , interests and vulnerabilities. Short, just a gem.
