- While hunting, Pandu accidentally kills a Sage. To do penance Pandu decides to spend his life in exile and entrusts Kingdom to Dhritarastra. In time five children are born to Kunti and Madri. Dhritarastra had a hundred sons from Gandhari.
- Before dying rishi Kindam had blessed Kunti and Madri to have sons. While hunting, Pandu accidentally kills Rishi Kindam. Madri wanted Pandu to hunt a tiger for her. Pandu releases a sound sensitive arrow, that instead spears Rishi Kindam and his wife, while they were having sex. Pandu reaches the site, and finds Kindam dying. Kindam decides to punish Pandu for using a sound weapon, when he didn't have the ability to distinguish sounds properly. Pandu has ended Kindam's dynasty and wants the same for Pandu. Kindam curses Pandu that he would die the moment he has sex with anyone. Pandu admits that he killed Kindam, but is sure that he fired that arrow towards the tiger and not at the rishi. Madri holds herself responsible as she wanted the tiger skin and urged Pandu to hunt for it.
Satyavati calls Kunti, Madri and Pandu back to Hastinapur. Gandhari is afraid that Dhritarashtra is getting possessive about the crown. She implores Dhritarashtra to call Pandu back, before Satyavati orders him to do so. Shakuni has also told Dhritarashtra that the crown belongs to him. Just then Bhishma delivers Satyavati's order to Dhritarashtra to call Pandu back to the court from his holiday. Dhritarashtra knows that he will now have to revert the crown to Pandu.
Upon return Pandu meets Dhritarashtra and confesses his crime. Dhritarashtra wants Pandu to discuss this problem in open court, over-ruling Gandhari's objections who says that no discussion is required since it was an accident. Pandu confesses his crime in the Hastinapur court. Vidur argues that a murder has happened, and since it is an accident, the punishment should not be death, but exile. Pandu decides to pay for this crime by going into exile into the forest. Pandu could have hidden the crime, since he was the only witness to it. Bhishma praises Pandu for his honesty and for creating a precedent for the common citizens to follow the law in letter and spirit. Dhritarashtra is made king permanently. Satyavati objects, but this is Pandu's decision. He is the King and even Bhishma cannot overrule the King of Hastinapur.
Kunti and Madri accompany Pandu on his exile. Pandu dreams that he is not allowed into heaven coz he has not paid his Pitra Rinn, coz he hasn't borne any kids. Kunti tells Pandu about the God Mantra given to her by Rishi Durvasa. In time five children - Yudhishthir (DharamRaj) (Gajendra Chouhan), Bheem (Wind) (Praveen Kumar), Arjun (Indra) (Arjun), Nakul (Sameer Chitre) and Sahadeva (Sanjeev Chitre), are born to Kunti and Madri, using Kunti's God mantra..
Dhritarashtra had a hundred sons and a daughter (Dusshala) from Gandhari, the eldest being Duryodhana (Puneet Issar). But secretly he is angry that Pandu had a son earlier than him.
Kansa (Goga Kapoor) is the prince of Mathura. But he is cruel and commits atrocities against his own people. Kansa is the son-in-law of Magadh naresh. Mathura is ruled by Kansa's father Ugrasen. A delegation of citizens complain to Ugrasen who confronts Kansa. Kansa dethrones Ugrasen and crowns himself as King and Ruler. He puts Ugrasen in prison.
