Such a nice simple feel good movie! A bubble of positive vibes in our current selfish and egocentric world.

Charming Movie Based on a Famous Story
doppeltm7 December 2020
I enjoyed this movie very much. Despite the comforts that society has ot offer, unhappiness is also a pandemic and experiencing joy is a practice that needs to be pursued like any sort of fitness or work. This movie in a warm and witty way tackles the concepts of voids in one's life and the never ending quest for meaning. The characters are funny, sweet, and nuanced. The metaphors are significant. It is hard to find an experience that is at once deep and meaningful while being light and breezy. I was happy to come across this film.

Funny and Meaningful

Maya Batash's film Talking to God is a truly enjoyable movie with an inspirational message that true happiness must come from within. Maya's journey to Uman and interaction with many eccentric characters keeps the audience entertained. And the film contains a true message about the importance of prayer but also how ones internal contentment is key to one being happy with their lot in life. I recommend this film.

A Comedy with Meaning and Depth
lossef7 March 2021
Talking to God is a comedy that has meaning and depth. This is a modernized version of a classic tale that deals with finding contentment through daily brief practice of showing gratitude and establishing connection with a higher power. It balances comedy with touching moments that portray how people searching for meaning in their lives can find it in a most unexpected place. It's a movie that leaves you thinking about ways to derive greater satisfaction no matter what type of hand life has dealt to you. Highly recommended.

Talking to God had a great blend of humor as well as inspirational messages. Without being at all "preachy" it had some excellent lessons for people from all walks of life, even agnostics like myself included. It reinforces my personal philosophy that no matter your circumstances there is always a bright side.

Spectacular Movie - A RARE Combination of Entertainment and Life Changing Focus
et-071105 April 2020
Producer / Director (and actress) Maya Batash achieved that often sought but rarely achieved goal -- a truly entertaining movie where the message actually changes your consciousness, your way of life, your happiness, and who you are. This movie is based on a story of one of the great towering sages and mystics of the Jewish World - Rebbe Nachman of Breslov - but just as Judaism was the inspiration for most religions of the world, Rebbe Nachman's teachings are also the deepest advice for all of us, especially the current generation with all of its challenges. Rebbe Nachman's teachings are epic and beyond belief, but even he, at the later stage of his young life, decided that that the most effective teachings of all were stories.

So Fast Forward 200 years, and his deepest but simple to understand teachings of human nature -- How G-d designed us - have now been brought to the silver screen with all the brilliance of Hollywood - and not only without losing the message but "Talking to G-d" enhances the message for our modern times.

This is a truly Feel-Good Movie. But unlike most entertainment today - which satisfies you like a quart of Ben & Jerry (Good while it lasted, but 'why did I waste my time and calories on the whole thing?'), you leave this incredible film, feeling not only inspired, but asking yourself "How can I follow this advice to make my life more meaningful, to make my life happier?"

Because at the end of everything, this is what we all seek --- Meaning and Happiness.

This movie and the message it shares can truly help us all get there.

A Must See!!!
One of best films I've seen about God. Talking to God was really funny and made me laugh. It reminded me of the importance that God plays in our lives and especially during these trying times. Hopefully you too will walk away with a renewed relationship with Our Creator. I had a talk with after the film and hope that you do too.

Inspiring film

Warning: Spoilers
A film for the exact times we are living through right now. Everything is taken away and still the main character is happy and dancing and celebrating Shabbat. No matter what the king takes away the main character keeps reinventing himself to maintain his life without giving up. This is a film for the times and everyone should watch!

A funny, meaningful film, with a vitally deep message!
haya-8512820 March 2020
Maya Batash created an hilarious masterpiece for the heart and soul! Talking to God humorously addresses one of the most perplexing subjects of human consciousness. It laughs compassionately with the main character and with us, through our broken relationship with ourselves and with God, from within a very imperfect, painful world. Talking to God opens a whimsical window into personal communication with God and how it may transform us in unexpected ways. The film humorously brings a three hundred year old fable to life while addressing the anxieties of our generation. Talking to God is a must see film! It can bring us, along with its colorful, chaotic characters, laughing, crying and dancing into an authentic relationship with our Creator. Haya Baker

Warning: This film may open your heart and get your life unstuck
mlebowitz-020242 April 2023
Talking to God made me laugh and made me cry. But what it did most was helped me laugh my way into a mental-emotional-spiritual paradigm shift that opened my heart.

Be careful - it may do that to you too.

With a brilliant script and top level sound design and production Maya Batash grants the world access to the deepest secrets of Kabbalah and Hasidut with a gentle touch.

She has discovered the secret to true happiness in the fantastical tales of Rebbe Nachman and like any great doctor written a prescription that includes a spoon full of sugar to help us ingest and digest these new concepts as she retells the stories in a reality that we know.

Her portrayal of characters so absurd and exaggerated ironically makes them disarmingly relatable and human. And that's a whole lot of fun.

With all the the overstimulation and desensitization, Talking to God is a welcomed still strong voice that takes us back to basics. It's first and foremost a comedy about humanity - but then again - what is a human other than a biological being with a Divine soul and the potential for the consciousness to access it.

For me, this is a must watch, Probably at least once a month.
