Outrageous Egregious Preposterous

It should be illegal for Sam Elliot to be clean shaven. That is all.

Otherwise another solid episode in a great series. Looking forward to Justified City Primeval.

Things are developing nicely

Oh, now we're talking' . . .

One of the reasons 'Cash Game' is fun is the addition of new characters, chief among them Sam Elliott. But also Garret Dillahunt, leading a group of mercenaries in a Harlan land grab. Raylan and Tim maintain their witty repartee from last episode, but this is consistently entertaining even in their absence because of the new faces in the criminal department. The guest stars are characteristically top-shelf.

The other reason is that this really feels like it's laying the groundwork for something special. Plot-building that's steady and workmanlike. And that alone is fun in the classic "Justified" sense.

Yost and Co get their groove back...

Big smile from the couch potato.

Justified was my favorite series until Season 5 when they threw their former standards under the bus and spent way too much time with a bunch of noisy crows.

Season 6 is absolutely shining. Exec Producer Olyphant not only has his character down pat but actually seems to be having fun, something for example you did not see in DEADWOOD.

Speaking of Deadwood, the new resident baddie is also an alumnus, but that has already been covered in another review.

As an AARP member, I am delighted to see 62 year old Mary Steenburgen vamping it up with the boyz. And she looks great.

Speaking of looking great, Joelle Carter, now that she is out of prison, is allowed a tiny bit of H&M (hair and makeup) and in her case that is more than enough to make her a scene stealer again. A tilt of the head, and the camera absolutely adores her.

And Goggins shines as ever -- not only a phenomenal character actor, but he even has his own unique walk when he exits a scene. Last actor that did that, I think, was John Wayne.

It just keeps getting better

Warning: Spoilers
Well, I've got to admit, it wasn't as shocking as the first episode of the season, but it never tried to be.

It was all about character development, moving the plot forward, introducing some other minor characters that might play an interesting or even funny part on the story from now on.

We finally got to see Sam Elliott on the show (surprisingly without a mustache), the return of the Duffy man with the mob boss Katherine Hale (played by the beautiful Mary Steenburgen).

But besides Raylan, Boyd and Ava, one other character stole the show in this episode, and his name is Ty Walker.

For those who are familiar, this is the same guy who played Jack McCall and Francis Wolcott on Deadwood, the second being probably one of the most complex villains in the history of television.

Garret Dillahunt just put up even more class than this season could've possibly had, and we look forward to see what Ty Walker is capable of (even being controlled by another George Hearst)

Speaking of familiar faces, Sgt. Malarkey from Band of Brothers (played by Scott Grimes) also makes his first appearance and joined the collection of numerous BoB alums that appeared on the show.

Also, even if he isn't half a Dewey, Choo-Choo is a nice fresh air for comedy on the show, having at least two or three very funny scenes on this episode, bringing the best out of Gutterson's dark humor with him as well.

Well played, Justified, you have all the cards on the table for a great final season.

MVP's:

Ty Walker (Garret Dillahunt).

Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant).

Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins).
