Indie eastern-western

Warning: Spoilers
Remember the mini-wave of 'eastern westerns' that were made in the 1970s? The chief of these was THE STRANGER AND THE GUNFIGHTER, a fine and quirky little movie in which Lee Van Cleef and Lo Lieh teamed up to fight evil. Well, THE LAST WOLF OF EZO is another film of this type, albeit one made on an indie budget by westerners obviously obsessed with samurai culture. It suffers very much from an entirely low budget although it does try very hard to succeed. There are lots of cowboys, a great deal of bad acting, and a little bit of bloodshed.

Fun, ambitious movie!

My bf and I randomly came across the DVD of this film and had to come drop a review! This was a super fun take on blending a traditional western in an awesome way with samurais and supernatural elements. Very entertaining and enjoyable!

You can tell everyone in the film is having a great time and I wholeheartedly respect the ambition to extend (what I am assuming) a shoestring budget to this feature film length movie (spanning multiple sets and many actors) wasn't easy! Very much appreciate the widely representative cast too.

Also... nice surprise to see my local Bay Area Japanese tea garden featured in here!

Hands down: a great viewing experience

Everyone has that friend who is trying to be the next rapper, the next DJ, the next filmmaker. Not all of them are able to grasp that dream.

Eddie did. I've seen many of my friends works through the years, but nothing as polished as this. A full-length feature film. A classic western, mixed with some Japanese ninja bassassery.

This movie really threw you into a western. You feel like you are right there in the action, wearing your own cowboy hat and boots, while continually swatting flies off your face and coughing up sand and dust.

I haven't watched a good western in a long time. This one brings back all of those late nights watching them with your brothers and fathers.

If you like indie films and just generally want to experience a good movie:

Watch: The Last Wolf of Ezo.
