Unsuitable for Children
JadedJester1 January 2016
In the "Animation" genre, what is the writer thinking when suggesting "kidnapping girls and locking them in the basement" as an activity theme for "pretend pirates" especially when this animation is presumably meant for Children?! Simply appalling and for so glad I was bored enough to press play before letting my Niece and Nephew watch this. Having absolutely no entertainment value even for adults makes this the absolute in-classifiable animated movie.

The flow of the story line is bumpy and animation is stiff. Although the animation style could be intentional, it seems artificial and more digestible as a school presentation. Ultimately, the idea that kidnapping girls and locking them up whilst using physical force is normal as "play pretend" for young boys is absolutely frightening. It bothers me enough to write a review for the first time after so many years should say something. Parents and Liberal forward thinking adults alike, you have been informed.

THAT DIAMOND WON'T STEAL ITSELF

Warning: Spoilers
The film opens as we watch one of Nena's 99 luftballoons float into Kelly Town. Albert is born and a proud dad shows the town by holding Albert out over a balcony. Albert quickly grows up in the film and as a toddler he accidentally destroys the town statue of an air balloon captain. Albert and his friend leave town to be the captain of a hot air balloon and fly it back to town and also be pirates.

I am not sure if everything in the film has a positive message for kids. The kids want to steal and form a scoundrels club where they kidnap girls and hold them in their basement...but they wouldn't have to kiss them. The film is a French version of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, taking place in an older time period and place not well defined.

Good 3D graphics. An easy film to watch.
