When Johnny Depp Raked In A Huge Numbers Despite Not Having A Single Scene In It ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Johnny Depp is a renowned Hollywood personality who is also among the highest-paid actors. He faced a great ordeal owing to his court case against Amber Heard. Depp lost his deal with Disney and was dropped from the Pirates of the Caribbean. He also exited another popular fantasy film series, but the actor was, in a way, a gainer as the studio had to pay him his full salary for the role, and it was not a small amount.
Depp was at the peak of his career when the domestic abuse controversy happened that cost him his career. Not him, Amber also lost her reputation and work in Hollywood. The fans of both stars did not leave a moment to troll each other and them.

A case can be made that Drew Goddard is one of the more underappreciated genre voices to break through in the last 20 years. The filmmaker has had an impressive track record, from writing and directing a bonafide cult classic like Cabin in the Woods to also penning one of the best sci-fi movies of this century, 2015’s The Martian, which was adapted from the Andy Weir novel of the same name and earned Goddard an Oscar nomination. He also wrote the original Cloverfield and helmed the extremely overlooked Bad Times at the El Royale. In nerd circles, his name should be revered.
Even with that esteem though, we cannot ignore that a vast shadow of trepidation descended Wednesday afternoon when the news hit: Goddard has been tapped to write and direct what will be a fifth and currently untitled Matrix film—a first for a series which up until now...

The international box office was generally muted this weekend, save for in China which ushered in the Year of the Dragon on Saturday, and with it the lucrative Chinese New Year moviegoing period. According to early figures from Maoyan, the first two days of Spring Festival 2024 amassed Rmb 2.44B ($339M), just a touch below the comparable days in 2023.
Although Maoyan’s Pegasus 2 was tops on Saturday, the first day of the holiday, ultimately it was the Jia Ling Cfg/Alibaba inspirational film Yolo that won the weekend with an estimated Rmb 804M ($112M/comScore has it slightly lower at $110.4M) across the two-day stretch. IMAX accounted for $3.6M of that. It often happens that the day-one winner is overtaken on day two.

The year 2023 didn’t shine brightly for superhero movies, particularly within the Dceu, where profitability was a struggle for most releases. The last Dceu installment faced daunting challenges, as ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ marked the end of the Dceu era without a clear narrative continuation. Compounding this, the movie faced limited marketing due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, and controversy surrounding Amber Heard’s involvement following her highly publicized trial with ex-spouse Johnny Depp, leading to potential viewer boycotts.
Initial critical reception reflected the challenges, with the movie holding a 36% rating on Rotten Tomatoes within the first 48 hours and receiving a “B” CinemaScore, placing it among the lowest-rated Dceu films. Despite earning $28 million in its first three days—less than the projected $40 million—the film outperformed others in its opening.

2023 was not exactly a stellar year for superhero movies, and this trend continued even before as far as Dceu is concerned since barely any movie struggled to make a profit. The expectations were pretty grim when it came to the last Dceu installment for several reasons. First, following the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ Dceu was officially over, and the movie quite frankly led nowhere. Second, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike the movie had barely any marketing and to top it all, Amber Heard had a role in the movie following her messy public trial against former spouse Johnny Depp which caused some would-be viewers to boycott the movie.
Following the release, the movie held 36% on Rotten Tomatoes during the first 48 hours, and it earned and “B” CinemaScore based on early audience impressions, which put him among the lowest-rated movies in the Dceu.

Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air” is the third collaboration from the team behind HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific.” Trio Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Steven Spielberg produced the nine-part World War II epic series, which spotlights the men who fought in the 8th Air Force, specifically the men of the 100th Bomb Group. The vivid and vital story finds roots in the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller.
The crew of a typical Eighth Air Force heavy bomber plane included ten men — a pilot and his co-pilot flying the B17, the navigator and the bombardier in the machine’s nose, the flight engineer behind the pilot, the radio operator, two waist gunners, a ball turret gunner and a tail gunner. Not to mention the men who strategized from the bases, the plane engineers and Tuskegee airmen or Royal Airforce pilots who feature in this story.

The first book in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" ("Sorcerer's Stone" here in the States) was first published in June of 1997. It was written by author J.K. Rowling, long before she had been driven mad by an infuriating streak of unabashed transphobia that she insists on adhering to. Thanks to years of bigoted screaming, Rowling's legacy has been wholly tainted, and it's hard to read her lighthearted children's fantasy books without thinking of her poisonous worldview. If one checks out the Harry Potter books from the library, however, one can still enjoy the adventures and complex Wizarding World of Harry Potter without giving Rowling another dime.
Before her mind snapped open in public, however, the Harry Potter books — and their subsequent movie adaptations — were widely beloved. The title character was an impoverished 11-year-old who was forced to live in a closet with his abusive aunt and uncle.

Fantastic Beasts filmmaker David Yates told Total Film that the Harry Potter spinoff feature franchise “is parked.”
That’s a very similar message to what he told us back at TIFF, however, that was in regards to his involvement with the overall Harry Potter franchise..
We’ve reached out to Warner Bros to get an update on whether the J.K. Rowling spinoff features are truly on ice; the author originally announcing on a pre-fan day for the film back in 2016 with producer David Heyman that the plan was for five Fantastic Beasts movies, set in five different cities.
Fantastic Beasts followed the adventures of writer Newt Scamander (who penned one of Harry Potter’s textbooks) in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards.

The Fantastic Beasts movies are essentially done, at least for now.
David Yates, who directed the three Wizarding World of Harry Potter prequel movies and the last four Hp movies, is speaking out about the possibility of a fourth Fantastic Beasts film.
If you recall, the last one, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, did not do well at the box office and was the lowest performing film in the entire Harry Potter franchise. Because of this, it was unknown if another film would be happening.

According to filmmaker David Yates, the Fantastic Beasts film franchise is falling under a dark spell. Speaking with Total Film Magazine, the director of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts said the enchanted spin-off prequel franchise is “parked” after three movies. Initially, the plan involved making five Fantastic Beasts films. However, that no longer appears to be the case.

The “Fantastic Beasts” movie franchise is “parked,” director David Yates said in a new interview with Total Film magazine. The franchise, headlined by Eddie Redmayne, is a prequel to “Harry Potter” that was designed by author J.K. Rowling as a five-film series. Three films have been released — “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” (2016), “The Crimes of Grindelwald” (2018) and “The Secrets of Dumbledore” (2022) — but the lackluster box office returns to the third entry ($407 million worldwide) led many “Harry Potter” fans to question if two more films would become a reality.

Warner Bros. has cast an Immobulus spell on Fantastic Beasts.
Director David Yates gave an update about the beleaguered franchise, which halted after three of its five planned films were released.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore star Callum Turner goes on an epic quest for Olympic gold in the trailer for director George Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat, which Amazon MGM Studios dropped on Wednesday ahead of a Dec. 25 theatrical release.
Turner plays Joe Rantz, a Depression-era outsider who discovers joining the rowing team in college will assure him of job and housing. “We rowed out of need. The need to stay in school, the need to eat, to sleep,” an older Rantz says in a voice-over that recounts the underdog rowing team beating powerhouses like Harvard and Yale on their way to triumphing over host Nazi Germany at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.

The Zurich Film Festival, which runs Sept. 28 – Oct. 8, will honor the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen with its Golden Eye award in recognition of his “successful career and versatility,” the Swiss event said Monday.
Mikkelsen will accept the award on Oct. 6, and will present his latest film, “The Promised Land,” which had its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival this month. Nikolaj Arcel’s film was described by Variety critic Guy Lodge as a “lavishly upholstered historical romp,” and “a Danish Western, built on black-and-white moral binaries and a yee-haw sense of intrepid adventure.”
Lodge wrote: “Notionally rooted in historical fact, but embellished with storybook romance and flouncing cartoon villainy, this roundly enjoyable Venice competition entry finally owes all its residual gravitas (and at least half its considerable handsomeness) to the expressive woodcut visage of one Mads Mikkelsen.”

Tim Burton’s classic movie, Edward Scissorhands, tells the story of Edward (Johnny Depp), an artificial man constructed of scissor blades, who falls in love with Kim (Winona Ryder) after getting taken in by a suburban family. The heartwarming, whimsical film from the ’90s still has a following today. So, where is the Edward Scissorhands cast now? Here’s what to know.
Where is ‘Edward Scissorhands’ cast member Johnny Depp now?
Johnny Depp played Edward, the artificially constructed, soft-spoken man who was known for his scissor hands. So, where is the most famous Edward Scissorhands cast member now?
Depp received a lot of press in 2022 due to his trial against Amber Heard. He accused Heard of fabricating domestic abuse accusations. Depp resigned from his role in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore during the process due to his crumbling reputation. But now, it looks like he’s trying to make a comeback.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav sees a major challenge in his media empire: the underutilization of “Harry Potter,” “Lord of the Rings” and DC.
“One of the other real strengths of Warner Bros. is we talk about the great IP that Warner Bros. owns,” Zaslav said at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference. “But, for us, the challenge is that our content, our great IP — “Harry Potter,” DC, “Lord of the Rings” — that content has been underused.”
Zaslav went on to note that the company hasn’t done “long-form Superman” in over 10 years. Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” premiered back in 2013. And though Wbd has a stake in The CW, the network behind the currently running “Superman and Lois,” it is not the majority shareholder of the network.

Roman Polanski’s black comedy “The Palace” was given a tepid three-minutes of applause when it world premiered in the Palazzo del Cinema’s Sala Grande on Saturday night.
Producer Luca Barbareschi, French star Fanny Ardant and other key cast members including German actor Oliver Masucci (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”), Portugal’s Joaquim de Almeida and Italy’s Fortunato Cerlino (”Gomorrah”) stood up and took a bow, but the audience’s response seemed to be more polite than exited, though there were occasional bursts of laughter during the screening.
Before the film’s premiere “The Palace” set designer Tonino Zera received Venice’s Campari Passion for Film prize from artistic director Alberto Barbera.
Polanski directed the black comedy from a screenplay he wrote alongside Jerzy Skolimowski and Ewa Piaskowska. “The Palace” takes place during New Year’s Eve in 1999, when a dinner party at Switzerland’s Gstaad Palace hotel takes an unexpected turn.

If you’ve waited to experience Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in the comfort of your own home, now’s your chance! The James Mangold-directed adventure is now available digitally through Vudu, the American digital video store and streaming service owned by Fandango Media. The film will be available to watch on the Vudu platform in Sd, HD, and Uhd for $19.99.
When Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, the film met with mediocre reviews. Knowing Indy’s latest odyssey would be compared to its predecessors, Mangold spoke with Variety about the film’s reception, saying, “When you’re in franchise land, it’s very hard for critical thinkers…to overlook what I’m sure their editors want, which is this business prism of how does it rate to the other ones?…I always thought if I were second or third...

The great actor Mads Mikkelsen will play Nazi scientist Dr. Juren Voller in the eagerly awaited movie Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny.
Mads Mikkelsen is no stranger to a series, having been in films like Star Wars and James Bond, but his performance in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny impacted a little bit differently. It’s not because he plays the film’s antagonist, Jürgen Voller, on screen for the first time as a Nazi.
Of all the properties he has worked on, Indiana Jones is the one with which he has a strong emotional connection. Mikkelsen recently discussed his preferences for characters in an interview, saying that he prefers portraying “losers” to more conventionally nice and innocent parts.

Mads Mikkelsen stars opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny playing Nazi scientist Dr. Jürgen Voller. The actor recently opened up about the roles that he likes to play opting to play “losers” on-screen versus “cutie pie” characters.
“To combine it — to do something real and also be a cutie pie — I don’t really find it interesting,” Mikkelsen told GQ in a recent interview. “I’m not into the ‘hair falling in your eyes, be cute in a corner.’ Not me. The losers are fun. Because we know them. You might have been in that situation yourself sometimes.”
The Danish actor has made a name for himself in the U.S. playing villains. Other notable performances include Hannibal Lecter in the Hannibal series, the evil wizard in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and the accountant in Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money.”

While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny marks Harrison Ford’s final performance as Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr., the franchise may continue with another character leading future expeditions into the unknown. I’m talking about Indy’s goddaughter, Helena Shaw. Phoebe Waller-Bridge brings the character to life in the James Mangold-directed sequel. From what I’ve heard, Helena is a highlight of the new film, and the franchise’s future could rest in her capable hands. In a recent interview with Variety, producer Kathleen Kennedy says it’s “entirely possible” for Waller-Bridge to continue the brand.
Speaking with Variety about the new film, its mixed reception, and the franchise’s future, Mangold becomes visibly excited when the outlet broaches the topic of Helena Shaw. Mangold says he and the Butterworths (Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth) wrote the character specifically for Waller-Bridge, including elements of what made...

After staying out of the limelight in the lead-up to The Flash, star Ezra Miller made a rare public appearance at the DC film’s premiere Monday, posing for photos and making brief remarks to the crowd in Hollywood.
“I love you, maestro. I think you are amazing, and I think your work is monumental,” Miller said, addressing director Andy Muschietti in their first public comments since August 2022. Last year, they cited “complex mental health issues” in a blanket apology for past behavior, which included trespassing and choking a woman in Iceland in an incident caught on video.
Miller met with Warners film bosses Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca after that apology, and on Monday night, Miller thanked them, along with Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, who initially cast them as the Flash back in 2014.

Indiana Jones may be in his twilight years, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t solve a few more ancient puzzles. Disney has released a new clip for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in which the famed hero uses the power of water displacement to find his way out of a pickle.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last month, but the early reception was mixed. Some had a lot of fun with the movie and had plenty of praise for Harrison Ford, but others felt it was bogged down in nostalgia. Either way, I can’t wait to watch the film for myself and go on one final adventure with my favourite hero.

Harrison Ford’s final performance as Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny could be looking at an underwhelming box office when the film opens exclusively in theaters on June 30. Analysts predict a $60 million to $70 million take for the fifth and final Indiana Jones film over a five-day holiday opening. While $60M would be a reason to celebrate for most movies, the Indiana Jones franchise carries a legacy that could warrant more of a return for Ford’s farewell performance as the intrepid archaeologist.

In late August 2022, Ezra Miller trekked to Warner Bros. for their first meeting with film chairs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy. The sit-down followed months of legal and personal troubles for the actor, with a string of arrests and bad headlines threatening to derail The Flash, the $200 million feature Miller had been attached to since 2014. A few weeks earlier, Miller apologized for their behavior — which included trespassing and choking a woman in Iceland in an incident captured on video — citing “complex mental health issues.”
The question on everyone’s mind that day in August: Could Miller stay out of trouble, and out of the headlines, long enough for The Flash to safely enter theaters? Ten months later, the answer appears to be yes. Miller has not only stayed out of the headlines, but the actor is nowhere to be found in the press as the film sprints toward its June 16 release date.

Goodbye HBO Max, hello Max. Warner Bros. Discovery announced several weeks back that the company was dropping the "HBO" from the name of its flagship streaming service, and that day has come. What does that mean for you, the subscriber? For one, it means a lot more movies and TV shows will be streaming in 4K, and the list of initial titles is pretty impressive. There are, however, a few caveats.
Those who wish to watch movies like "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Argo" in Ultra HD will need to be subscribed to the new tier offered by Max called "Ultimate Ad-Free." This goes for $19.99 per month and includes access to the service's library of 4K movies and TV shows. There is also a plan with ads for $9.99 per month and a regular ad-free plan for $15.99 per month. Sudheer Sirivara, Global Technology Platform for Warner Bros. Discovery, had this to...

Universal Pictures Content Group and Lupus Films’ adaptation follows the Thomas’s attempts to rescue their cat from the top of a tree. Despite everyone’s fears, Mog has a magical night in the snow with a cat-themed Christmas dream. “This festive, family-friendly tale has huge cross generational appeal and is the perfect literary classic to adapt for the whole family to come together to watch,” said Ruth Fielding, Lupus Films Producer and Co-Founder.
