Like love and marriage, comic book movies and cameos are an institute you cannot disparage. Marvel might be the trailblazer in this regard, finding unique and innovative ways to shoehorn everyone and their uncle into a movie or TV show, but DC isn't immune from turning its audience into a real-life Pointing Rick Dalton meme. Yet, for every great appearance, there's also a flubber -- a moment that flops harder than "Joker: Folie à Deux" did at the box office.
Take a look at 2023's "The Flash" as an example. With all its multiversal potential, minds raced to the infinite possibilities, imagining the chances of seeing Christian Bale's Batman return for a triumphant third act cameo or even seeing Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern fly in for a visit. Instead, it turned into a CGI horrorfest where the tributes to past heroes angered -- rather than captivated -- viewers. It...

Cameras have been rolling on DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow for a while at this stage (several actors have already wrapped their scenes), but we now have word on a late addition to the cast.
Nexus Point News is reporting that The Brothers Son and Sex Education star Alice Hewkin has a supporting role in the movie, and she will play one of the Sklarian Raiders.
This group of all-female space pirates from the planet Sklar first appeared in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heros back in the late '70s, and have since faced off against numerous cosmic DC Comics heroes. They are ruthless thieves, but have also been depicted as having a moral code.
The Sklarians do not feature in Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow comic run, so it should be interesting to see how they're utilized in the movie. There is already speculation that they...

James Gunn’s Dcu is going to face major trouble after Donald Trump announced a 100% tariff for movies produced outside of the United States. Trump’s tariff is intended to save the movie industry in America. But movie studios won’t be happy with the new announcement, as some of the major productions are currently operating outside of the U.S.
While Gunn’s Superman production primarily took place at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, the Dcu is planning to move to the U.K. for its upcoming films. For instance, the next film in the Dcu roster, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is currently in production at the Warner Bros. Studio Leavesden in Hertfordshire.

With a few weeks to go, the first tracking data for Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is out and it seems as though his ace Imf agent Ethan Hunt is gearing up to go out with a bang.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, The Final Reckoning is currently looking at an opening in the $72 million to $88 million range, with box office pundits targeting a $80 million domestic launch over the course of the four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend, which would be a franchise-best, topping the $61.2 million three-day launch for Mission: Impossible - Fallout in 2018.
Meanwhile, Disney's Lilo & Stitch is expected to open around $120 million over the four-day holiday, with projections expecting something in the $110 million to $130 million range, so based on these early estimates, it seems like we're in for one of the biggest movie weekends since 2023's Barbenheimer.

The first trailer for Superman made it pretty clear that Lois Lane and the Man of Steel were an item, but it seems the former is going to have some doubts about the relationship in the upcoming DC reboot.
While speaking to ABC, director James Gunn explained where we'll find Lois and Clark at the beginning of the movie.
“He’s in love with her. She’s the one that needs the convincing in the relationship. It’s not him. You really see where he needs her in his life.”
As for the Man of Tomorrow, it sounds like this interpretation of the iconic hero is going to be depicted as being far from perfect.
"[The film is] a personal journey for Superman that’s entirely new,” says Gunn. "He’s a character who is pretty damn good, but flawed.”
Some feel that Superman shouldn't be seen to display any flaws, but the...

Well, there’s one less soldier on the DC Studios battlefield.
“Sgt. Rock,” to be directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by his “Challengers” and “Queer” collaborator Justin Kuritzkes, is no longer moving forward at DC Studios, TheWrap has exclusively learned. Colin Farrell, already a part of the DC Comics universe thanks to his role as The Penguin in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” and the HBO spinoff series “The Penguin,” was in talks to play the title character after Daniel Craig dropped out.
The issue, one insider noted, came down to scheduling. The film, which would require a lot of exterior shoots, needed to start production this summer and wasn’t going to make its date. Budget didn’t appear to be an issue — it was meant to come in under $70 million, which for a high-priority comic book adaptation, is a bargain.
DC Studios had no comment.

Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us has officially landed, and with it, a fresh wave of praise. Intense, emotional, and unapologetically raw, it’s another high point in what’s becoming one of TV’s finest adaptations. Critics are praising its bold storytelling, and fans are emotionally wrecked in the best way possible.
But with popularity comes danger: the temptation to stretch, spin off, and syndicate a good thing into the creative void. Sound familiar? It should, just ask the ghosts of the Arrowverse. But not on Mazin and Druckmann’s watch. They both know: people love a show because it’s complete, not because it’s endless.
Why Mazin and Druckmann won’t let The Last of Us drag on like the Arrowverse

More footage from the set of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has found its way online today, this time showcasing the Maiden of Might doing battle with three armoured baddies.
Based on previous photos and videos, this seems to be part of an outer space battle with Supergirl attacking a tank, fighting its inhabitants as it blasts through the cosmos, and then taking flight while tackling one of her foes.
We don't know who they are, though we wouldn't be shocked if they're somehow linked to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow's big bad, Krem of the Yellow Hills. Whatever the case may be, the hero has some badass fighting skills.
Superman is expected to introduce the Dcu's Supergirl, and if DC Studios follows the comic this movie shares a name with, we can expect Kara Zor-El to be a little rougher around the edges than previous live-action adaptations. It's previously been...

The first look at Milly Alcock suited up as Supergirl has surfaced. Earlier this month, photos from the set of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow made their way around the internet, which featured the House of the Dragon star donning the signature cape for her debut adventure in the DC Universe and fans have had a lot of thoughts about it.
That's not particularly surprising as fans have had a lot of thought about all things Dcu since the brand reboot was announced back in 2022. James Gunn and Peter Safran are overseeing rhe relaunch with Gunn's own Superman movie arriving in theaters this summer. Rumor has it that Alcock will make her official debut as the Girl of Steel in that movie, setting the stage for her return in her solo adventure next summer.
But in the meantime, audiences have these set photos to go on, and they look thrilling.

Through his megadeal with Warner Bros. Discovery, highly successful and prolific producer and screenwriter Greg Berlanti will be returning to more hands-on creative work, specifically writing for three different shows, each being developed for a different streaming platform. One of those series is a horror thriller titled Stillwater, which will be created for Prime Video.
Some comic book fans will be familiar with the show's title right away, as it's based on Skybound's horror comic book series of the same name by Chip Zdarsky. Amazon has given Stillwater a series order, although it's unclear how many episodes the first season will have.
Berlanti is best known for his work on shows such as Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, You, Titans and Superman & Lois. He and Carly Wray are working together to adapt the Stillwater comic for the screen. They will also executive produce along with Zdarsky, Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs,...

The new DC Universe is continuing to grow, and 2026 will be no different as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will arrive in movie theaters as one of the franchise's upcoming installments. This year's Superman will pave the way for the Girl of Steel's arrival, but it's safe to say that fans are ready to keep up with the Kryptonians in the near-future. And that includes seeing them take on some of their greatest foes.
James Gunn and Peter Safran are overseeing the DC Studios franchise, which they have promised audiences will pay tribute to the DC Comics, providing faithful storylines that comic book fans will love. And given that Supergirl's subtitle comes from a beloved comic series, audiences are expecting a great deal from that one.

Exclusive: How is this for continuity — as the last of the current series created/co-created by Greg Berlanti, You, is topping Netflix’s charts with its just-released final season, he is readying his next series — next three, that is, including Stillwater, which has been picked up by Amazon. I mean, the level of filmmaking across the board from our entire cast and crew and Christopher McQuarrie - what he's accomplished with this film, I just think it's exceptional. There's things you're going to see that have just never been done before and the emotional journey of the movie is... I just can't wait. I mean, there's so many things that it's just very, very rich filmmaking,...

The DC Extended Universe ended in 2023 with the sight of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's Orm eating a cockroach. After a disastrous year for the brand, it almost seemed fitting for it to conclude on such a bum note, but it wasn't all bad for the Dceu.
Sure, it was a rocky ride, and there were perhaps more misses than hits over the years, but it would be wrong to write this franchise off as a total disaster. A few of these titles were even great comic book movies, and it's those that the Dcu will need to compete with.
Ahead of Superman's release in theaters this July, we're ranking each of the Dceu movies from best to worst. Remember, this is only one person's opinion, and you're likely to have a very different take; we'd love to hear those in the comments section.

We’re only a few months away from the release of Superman, the first tentpole film in James Gunn’s Dcu, but the universe has already begun to take shape beyond its debut movie. One of the projects already announced and kicked into production is Lanterns, the Max original series that will see Rebel Ridge star Aaron Pierre step into the role of John Stewart, with Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler set to star opposite him as Hal Jordan. No Country for Old Men veteran Garrett Dillahunt sparked rumors that he had been cast as the Dcu’s Green Arrow/Oliver Queen after sharing some concept art of himself as the character, but James Gunn recently took to his personal Threads account to debunk this theory by responding to a fan who asked if it was true, simple saying “Haha, no.”

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has officially moved to outdoor filming, giving fans a fresh look at the production in action. Over the past few days, we’ve gotten our first glimpses of Supergirl’s new suit, some outer space setup, some flight scenes, and plenty of other interesting details.
Now, a new wave of set leaks has surfaced, courtesy of notable leaker @UnBoxPHD and their secondary account @UnBoxPHDFILM.
An insider shared a new video that appears to show costumes worn by the supporting cast. Despite this being a set leak, the video is relatively high quality, and we can see that the supporting cast wears armors along with shields and medieval-looking weapons.
This makes sense considering that the majority of the movie is supposed to take place on different planets.

Paramount Pictures has released another amazing new behind-the-scenes featurette from Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, this time shifting the spotlight away from the stunts and onto one of the franchise's most breathtaking shooting locations: Svalbard, Norway!
If you're wondering what brings our heroes to the Arctic, well, it's probably safe to say it'll have something to do with the missing Sevastopol, which sank at the beginning of the previous film.
Dead Reckoning spoilers ahead, but, as we all know now, the completed key that Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) managed to swipe at the end of that film opens a chamber in the Sevastopol that contains the Entity's source code, allowing it to be destroyed or controlled.
The sub's location has remained a mystery until now, but, it looks like, in the two months between adventures, Hunt and company will have cracked its hidding spot in the Arctic Ocean.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is seemingly close to wrapping filming at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studio per an Instagram post from actor David Krumholtz. The second film of James Gunn's new DC cinematic universe is set to hit theaters in June 2026.
Krumholtz's Instagram post, which the actor used to announce he's wrapped his scenes, showed the front and back of his chair on set. The back reads "Zor-El", which is the name of his character and the father of Milly Alcock's Supergirl. In the caption, the actor mentioned Alcock, who before being cast as the lead Kryptonian in this film played a younger version of Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon. He also mentioned 1899 star Emily Beecham, his on-screen wife. Krumholtz, who recently appeared in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, thanked director Craig Gillespie, as well as DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn. The second image in the...

David Krumholtz, who is set to play the Girl of Steel's father Zor-El in DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, has taken to social media to announce that he has finished filming his scenes, while also sharing a first look at the film's logo.
The actor notes that this is not the final logo in the comments of his post, which means it will likely be used for promotional material, tie-in merchandise and the like. Even so, the lack of "Woman of Tomorrow" may confirm the title change.
The fact that James Gunn referred to the film as Supergirl in his recent BTS post and the trades followed suit in their coverage has led to speculation that the subtitle has been dropped, which would make a certain amount of sense after "Superman: Legacy" was retitled Superman.

We're getting closer to a wrap on the Dcu's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, as actor David Krumholtz recently revealed that he has finished his scenes for the film. While some will celebrate the film moving one step closer to completely wrapping production, keen-eyed viewers have noticed the film's logo, and the bigger implication it could have on the movie.

As DC Studios prepares for the anticipated release of James Gunn’s Superman on July 11, another super-powered film in the Gods and Monsters arc is wrapping production. Today, David Krumholtz, who plays Supergirl’s father, Zor-El, in the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, shared a temporary logo for the forthcoming film. Krumholtz featured the logo in a recent Instagram post alongside an image of his casting chair with the name Zor-El on the back. The new photos come a day after Krumholtz posted a picture of himself looking proud and somewhat smarmy while wearing a Supergirl t-shirt.
We expect the Supergirl logo to be redesigned before the film’s release, but for now, the red, blue, and yellow graphic gives off bold superhero vibes.

Jason Momoa's Lobo took the spotlight in a brand-new inside look at DC Studios' upcoming solo film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
While Supergirl is still more than a year away from its release, Momoa has been front and center in helping to promote the movie as filming pushes forward. He has already teased a massive future for his new DC supervillain, Lobo, as he continues his work with Warner Bros. and builds this new franchise.
Lobo will take the spotlight alongside Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El for the first solo Supergirl movie in more than 40 years, which will also be the second film in James Gunn's new Dcu. Even though the promotional tour for the movie is far from starting, a small hint of what to expect has come forward for Momoa fans.

A new photo from the set of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been shared online, and it gives us another look at Milly Alcock suited-up as the Girl of Steel alongside the mysterious character believed to be Jason Momoa's Lobo.
An obviously fake image of The Main Man did the rounds online earlier today, but we still don't know for certain that this is actually Lobo. This latest photo doesn't really give us much more to go on, and if anything, makes us wonder if this could be a different character entirely.
Though this could me Momoa, the Aquaman star has previously said that his take on the alien bounty hunter would look pretty much exactly like he does in the comics, and this guy doesn't appear to have the pale skin of facial tattoos.
"Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa said during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel.

It was a trying and difficult time for the CW when Stephen Amell started out as Oliver Queen in the 2012 show Arrow. After Amell was through with his role, the Arrowverse was brought into existence.
However, there was a time when the studio was considering creating a spinoff in the Arrowverse, which could have had potentially devastating effects on Stephen Amell’s legacy.
Stephen Amell’s Arrowverse could have been ruined
Portraying the role of Oliver Queen for a total of 8 seasons, Stephen Amell found worldwide fame and critical acclaim for his role in Arrow. The result was the creation of the Arrowverse, which included shows and spin-offs like Supergirl and The Flash.

Back when flip phones ruled and crime shows were everywhere, Monk stood out like a sore thumb, one that had to be washed 27 times. Adrian Monk wasn’t your typical detective. He was a genius with germ issues, a human magnifying glass with 312 phobias, and the reason millions of us developed an odd respect for hand wipes. Tony Shalhoub made Monk iconic, but the rest of the gang, Natalie, Stottlemeyer, Randy, and even Sharona, brought their own brand of chaos, charm, and comedy.
For eight glorious seasons, they solved murders, wrestled personal baggage, and somehow made Ocd oddly heartwarming. After the show wrapped in 2009, fans waited years for a comeback. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will feature the talents of multiple veterans of the Game of Thrones universe. Supergirl herself will be played by Milly Alcock, who played Young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the prequel series House of the Dragon. She'll face off against space bounty hunter Lobo, who will be played by original Game of Thrones alum Jason Momoa, who blew up thanks to his turn as Khal Drogo.
I'm betting that Supergirl will also fight some other villain besides Lobo, who feels more like a miniboss. In any case, the first images from the set are starting to leak, thanks to the tireless efforts of @UnBoxPHD. Here's the first, faraway glimpse of Milly Alcock in costume as Kara Zor-El:

Paramount Pictures has shared a jaw-dropping new look at Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, offering a quick sneak peek at Tom Cruise's most dangerous stunt yet, as he hangs off the wing of a biplane at 8,000 feet, with winds of over 140 mph blasting!
This stunt, which will undoubtedly be this final installment's signature sequence. has been in the works for several years now, with Cruise ("Ethan Hunt") and director Christopher McQuarrie having meticulously shot it over the last two years. The duo actually first teased the plane sequence at CinemaCon 2023 ahead of the launch of that summer's Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning.
The previous installment received widespread critical acclaim and the follow-up is shaping up to bigger and better in every way, as Ethan Hunt and his elite team of Imf operatives race against the clock to stop The Entity once and for all.

Another Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow set video has landed today, this time showing the Maiden of Might battling a formidable-looking foe atop a spaceship. She then appears to fly into him, sending the villain hurtling into the unknown.
Supergirl, meanwhile, clings to the side of another ship after their altercation, suggesting that this is a high-speed chase of some sort. If they're hurtling through space, it makes sense why the hero isn't simply taking flight here.
As for the identity of the person Supergirl is battling, many fans are convinced it's meant to be Jason Momoa's Lobo. While we can't fully discount the idea, the photographer in question has said that the actor had announced he'd wrapped shooting before this footage was taken.
That doesn't mean it's not a stuntman, of course, but this looks more like a generic cosmic baddie than the Dcu's Scourge o' the Cosmos.

The DC Universe is beginning to take form. Under the tutelage of DC Studios' co-chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, the franchise has the potential to rival Marvel Studios' long-standing Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing DC Comics characters back to the big screen after the previous Dceu was rested. And it all starts with Superman this summer.
The Dcu officially kicked off with animated series Creature Commandos last year, but the Man of Steel will officially help it take flight. And David Corenswet's portrayal of the legendary DC hero in the upcoming James Gunn-directed film will also pave the way for the arrival of his cousin, Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl.
House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock takes on the mantle of the Girl of Steel in 2026's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and the first look at her suited up has surfaced online.

While photos of Jason Momoa's Lobo from the Dcu's new Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie are going viral, questions have come up about their legitimacy. It turns out, the photos of Momoa's much-anticipated portrayal of Lobo are AI-generated.
After years of playing Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the former Dceu, Momoa was the first star from that franchise to take on a new role in James Gunn's new DC Studios. This time, he will portray alien bounty hunter Lobo, allowing the actor to dive into a wild and insane persona on-screen.
Fans hope to see Lobo become a long-standing antihero/villain following 2026's Supergirl film. However, with production underway on the Dcu's second theatrical movie, the internet is rife with conflicting reports on what to expect.

One thing Netflix knows how to do well is have a summer hit emerge that’ll set the internet ablaze and have everyone discussing it in all corners of social media platforms.
There’s nothing quite like settling in for a binge with a cold beverage and nothing but time as the streamer lures you into a new world of pure vibes and solid characters.
And without a doubt, this summer’s hit will be The Waterfront.
(Dana Hawley/Netflix ) The Waterfront Already Sold Us with Who Is Behind It
Kevin Williamson wrote and executive produced the series.
Yes, that one — the man behind some of our lasting favorite series such as Dawson’s Creek, The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Fox’s grisly but great The Following, and, you know, the entire Scream franchise.
The Wheel of Time Finale Finally Sees Rand Ascend As The Dragon Reborn but at What Cost?...

Fans of Game of Thrones certainly know the legendary story of the unaired pilot episode that featured a different Daenerys Targaryen. Tamzin Merchant portrayed the Mother of Dragons, but during the grueling production of the failed first episode, HBO realized she wasn’t the best choice for the role.
Emilia Clarke replaced the actress, and from here, the filming went smooth sailing. The show finally picked up momentum, and after its first season run, it became a cultural phenomenon and a staple watch for every household.
Tamzin Merchant’s journey in Game of Thrones wasn’t as bad as Chris Pratt’s first audition for Marvel
There were a lot of variations as to what truly happened behind the scenes with Tamzin Merchant and her short-lived role in Game of Thrones. Some say she left the project, while others claim she was fired by HBO.
In an interview with James Hibberd for Entertainment Weekly,...

This latest Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow drone video reveals that filming has now moved to a brand-new set.
As usual, the footage is taken from quite a distance, but some details can be made out and a number of costumed extras can be seen (there's no sign of Milly Alcock suited-up as Kara Zorl-El).
There's speculation that this is either the interior of a Kryptonian (or another alien) spacecraft or some kind of space station.
In Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow comic, the Girl of Steel and her companion, Ruthye, take a little break from their revenge mission and travel to a space-bar for a drink. Here, Kara is confronted by an alien who blames her for her cousin Superman imprisoning his brothers in the Phantom Zone. As you might expect, the altercation doesn't work out so well for the instigator.
