Castiel
- Castiel: Do you think Claire is in trouble?
- Dean Winchester: She's hanging out with a guy named Randy. She's in trouble.
- Castiel: Now I realize that there is no righteous path, it's just people trying to do their best in a world where it is far too easy to do your worst.
- Claire Novak: Wow, deep.
- Castiel: Yeah, for a doof.
- Sandra Phelan: What is it that you do exactly?
- Castiel: I... um... I fight certain deadly threats to humanity.
- [awkward silence]
- Claire Novak: He's an exterminator.
- Castiel: I'm an exterminator.
- Dean Winchester: Cass, I need you to promise me something.
- Castiel: Of course.
- Dean Winchester: If I do go dark side, you gotta take me out.
- Castiel: What do you mean?
- Dean Winchester: Knife me. Smite me. Throw me into the freaking sun, whatever. And don't let Sam get in the way, because he'll try. I can't go down that road again man. I can't be that thing again.
- Dean Winchester: So you're having a midlife crisis?
- Castiel: Well, I'm extremely old, I think I'm entitled.
- Dean Winchester: This is why you called us, this is your emergency?
- Castiel: Yes!
- Dean Winchester: No Cas, an emergency is a dead body, okay or a wigged out angel, or the Apocalypse take three. Some chick bolting on you is no emergency.
- [Smiles]
- Dean Winchester: That's every Friday night for Sam.
- Sam Winchester: Dude!
- Dean Winchester: There's some stuff you just gotta let go. Okay? The people you let down, the ones you can't save... You gotta forget about 'em, for your own good.
- Castiel: Is that what you do?
- Dean Winchester: That's the opposite of what I do. But I ain't exactly a role model.
- Castiel: I thought I could make it up to her.
- Sam Winchester: I don't think you can. I mean, Jimmy was her father. And to some people, that's... that's everything, you know?
- Castiel: No. I don't. I never knew my father. He was distant, to say the least.
- Claire Novak: [Emotional] I used to pray to you Castiel, every night. I would beg you to bring him home safe.
- Castiel: [Softly] I know.
- Claire Novak: You know... My father was a good man. In what messed up world does he have to die and you get to live?
- Castiel: Where's your mother?
- Claire Novak: About a few months after you, she took off. Dropped me off at my grandma's and went to go "find herself." I guess she's still looking.
- Sandra Phelan: I'm not trying to be the bad guy here. I'm not. But until Claire turns 18, she is my responsibility. I know you're trying to do what you think is best. I know you wanna be her friend.
- Castiel: I do.
- Sandra Phelan: And that's our problem, Mr. Novak. Claire's troubled. The last few years have not been easy for her. And she doesn't need a friend. She needs a father.
- Claire Novak: You changed. The Castiel I met, he was crappy, like super stuck-up and a dick and you just wanted to punch in his stupid angel face.
- Castiel: [Sheepish] Don't think I was that bad.
- Claire Novak: You totally were. And now you're just, I don't know, nicer. Kind of a doof... no offence.
- Claire Novak: My Dad, is he still in there?
- Castiel: [Sadly] No. The human soul it can only occupy a body while it retains a certain structural integrity, and this vessel it was, it was ripped apart on a sub-atomic level by an archangel.
- Claire Novak: Then how are you-...
- Castiel: I was reassembled.
- [pause]
- Castiel: Your father is in Heaven.
- Claire Novak: Well, yay for him. Anyway good talk, you can get the hell out of my life now.
- Castiel: You were going to *rob* that convenience store?
- Claire Novak: So?
- Castiel: "So?" So... it's wrong.
- Claire Novak: You wanna talk to me about wrong?
- [Voice breaks]
- Claire Novak: You killed my dad.
