A really great movie for such a low budget, the cast feels really open and makes the story really bloom. For a documentary it has it's funny moments but also the heartfelt ones

Encouraging
blumdeluxe10 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Full out" tells the story of a young Gymnast, who has to fight for her dream to become a professional athlete after she is severly injured in a horrible car accident.

In many respects, this feels like a teenage film, from the way the characters are designed to some of the plot choices and even the looks. How strict the plot sticks to reality is hard to tell but since some of the people involved are also present in the film one can only assume that it is not totally off limits. The story itself is definitely encouraging and if some kids get inspired by this to work for what they want to achieve no matter the hardships, the movie definitely made sense.

All in all this is not a game changer and in many respects predictable and a feel good film. Nevertheless it has the potential to inspire people and carries a nice message that many people could benefit from.

To rediscover one's passion.
Reno-Rangan14 July 2017
This is an under-noticed inspiring tale. A biographical sport film based on an American gymnast Ariana Berlin. Like in any sports, after suffering from an accident or injury, how they fight for their comeback is the purpose of this film. It opened with a brief intro of her childhood, like what gymnastic means for her. She was not alone, but grew up with it alongside her close friend, Isla. The timeline of the story was on the crossroad of her life, just a few steps away to become what she had dreamt of. But with an unexpected event, her dream comes crumbling down.

First of all, this is not like any other sports film you have seen. But yes, a few parts resembles on what all the sports films have that in common with. So it is a very similar kind to the recent film 'Bleed for This', except a different sport. I have seen some good gymnastic films, including the recent 'The Bronze', but this one was a unique experience. Because all those films are focused on heroism. Like too unrealistic or intentional, how one overcomes from all the obstacles. Everything's about achieving something big. Unlike those, this was more about passion for the game.

Besides, the road to come back, everybody needs a confident boost. One never knows where and how it strikes him. You might think it would be the coach, parents, friends or maybe a counselor/mentor, but that part was the unusual of this film. It was none of them, but hip hop. Seems these two are not so far away from one another, especially they align in the case of physics, but totally falls in a different category. The fusions in any events are not rare, even in professional level in this modern world, but how does it work is the interesting part. A part of innovation. I would say it was nothing special, yet quite enjoyable.

❝Sometimes when the front door gets slammed in your face, you have to go through the back door.❞

It had a good opening, and after the initial setback which is to set up a platform for the rest of the story, the middle section picked up well from it. Not that the film scenes were unpredictable, even though reasonable. Yeah, I was not sure which way the narration is heading. It was quite jumping all around till the third act to commence, then it sets its target firmly. Probably where you would get disappointed is the Ariana's dream. Her passion wins, but not her ambition. The end is where all the viewers would have their eyes. How it all going to end and what kind of message it reveals was much simpler, yet, like I said earlier, inspiring.

One of the best sport-films of the year. It was fun as well. I felt the dance parts should have given more attention to. Anyway, it was not primarily a dance flick, but had enough influence to say close to one. So don't watch it expecting it to be one, but gymnastic. If you like that game, particularly an aspirant, or any sports aspirant with a roadblock, it'll motivate you to keep on trying. Totally an unexpected film and I'm glad I saw it. Surely I would suggest it if anybody asks me for some good sports and biopics.

Good casting, pretty faces in the front row, if you are a guy. I don't know much about gymnastics, but I know the lead cast worked hard for the perfection. At least to be close to it. I hope Ana Golja and Sarah Fisher would do more films in the lead. They were very impressive in their respective roles. The real Ariana appeared in a guest role roles. A decent writing and direction, but it was the fine storyline that held them up, alongside performances. I liked all the gymnastic stunts/displays. The runtime and the pace of the narration was perfect. Overall an appreciable film. Usually biopics are must see, so I hope you consider it.

Terrible acting, special effects bad
javiergarcon4 October 2019
I gave it a chance and after watching the car crash, it was unspectacular. Why would a person go full speed past a hazard flashing RV? On a one lane road? Clearly the fault was the mother, and again this shows women are bad drivers, it gives the sense women are bad drivers, I did not like how they portray women as helpless and needy. I was a gymnist and if any girl acts like this, there career was cut short! So if your a gymnist you would agree! Serious gymnist are not girly girls and they do not have time to be a kid! These actors need more training, they are just a pretty face trying to read lines.

Family friendly
sljordan-0588822 September 2018
It was so refreshing to sit down with my 6 year old gymnast that featured dancing and budding relationships that didn't feel sexual. I have seen so many other movies with this kind of content that the dancing was at least rated PG 13 and the teenage kids are all getting hot and heavy. THANK YOU for keeping it clean and family friendly.

Appropriate for tweens looking for a feel good movie
susan-lu5 May 2020
The plot feels one dimensional and strained, and the acting reeks of Degrassi. Many scenes feel predictable like your classic emotional Lifetime film with a heavy layer of upbeat inspo-music. The writing had so much potential, such as the main character's coming to terms that her dream has ended, her best friend contenting with a demanding and abusive coach/father. Unfortunately, none of it felt realistic on-screen. As much as the actors try to convey the emotion of the pressures that come with gymnastics, it falls flat. It's not a biographical film as much as a preteen feel-happy movie with some famous gymnastics names thrown in. Perfect for a midnight sleepover entertainment to pass the time, especially if you recognize some of the Degrassi alums in the cast.

Like watching a sitcom on the kids channels...
kysta30 October 2021
Would not usually refer to myself as the wrong demographic because i will watch almost anything once...however this was lacking in most aspects for what i rate from a movie.

Based on a true story so i won't devalue that, just not for everyone.

I started gymnastics because of this movie
millarina22 October 2020
I watched this movie at the age of 24. Three days latter, I was on my first ever gymnastics class. Now, a couple of years latter, and insanely more skilled and fit, I can only recommend to check out this movie. Pay attention to how she basically fies on the bars, and if the movie turns too boring, perhaps google "adult gymnastics *your city*" on your mobile and make a better movie of your own life (without the accident please).

Honestly, the movie is not amazing. The acting is sometimes poor and the story a bit slow but it has some good parts too. I love the speed from the gymnastics parts, ofc.

Very Inspiring

This movie is very inspiring. It speaks on the true story of an Olympic medal gymnast who suffers a severe accident. She ends up dealing with therapy, trials and triumphs only to cross into dance. A truly inspiring film.

Awesome
cjase2200712 December 2018
As I began watching this, I started to think of two other movies: Step Up and Stick it. I won't break down the details, but there are some similarities. There is dancing and in Ariana's routine she also dances. This movie has a lot of heart, it's based on a true story. A young gymnast has dreams of going to college and competing, but then gets in a car accident. It seems like all of her dreams are crushed and she won't be able to do gymnastics anymore. She eventually recovers and joins a hip hop dance team. She has to choose between her love for gymnastics and helping her new friends. Definitely recommended.

Beautifully portrayed

Warning: Spoilers
When I first watched this, I didn't realized it was based on a true story but I was still very inspired by this. However, when I found out this was in fact based on the real life story of gymnast, Ariana Berlin, I was inspired even more. I also sort of feel a connection because after my grandmother suffered an injury and her health deteriorated in the hospital from infections etc. her doctor told her she would never eat or drink again. We told her that although we couldn't promise her she would, he couldn't promise she wouldn't. He's not G-d. Ariana's doctor told her she would most likely never do gymnastics again. I'm not sure why doctors feel it's okay to crush their patients' hopes and dreams but it's especially horrible that they tell it to their faces! Doctors are great messangers - but they are not G-d. I think that Ariana overcoming all odds is very inspirational and the movie was very heartfelt.

Very cute...
RosanaBotafogo20 August 2021
I love movies based on the lives of people who have surpassed their own limits, here we see a beautiful copy, cliché, dramatic, sensitive, and happy tragic, but which one is not, simple and efficient... Ariana Berlin's life from gymnast to dancer, with the participation of it, very cute...
